Is there a way to roll back the tattoo pack? It adds a tattoo to Jason's right arm that looks really bad. I'd like to remove it.

Is everyone absolutely sure that no more pirates appear in secure areas? I've run into three of these little convoys now and two of them were in friendly-controlled areas. I got to see one get butchered by a bunch of Rakyat warriors, which was awesome, and took down the others myself.

Pirates DO appear in "secure" areas. Just less often. You're not making areas "safe" so much as "safeER".

Uh, do you mean the UPlay rewards tattoo pack? Because that's for multiplayer. The giant tattoo that Jason has in singleplayer has always been there (watch the intro again!).

You should keep the parameters in the OP for those of us who want to run Uplay/FC3 without running Steam, and also add the -skipintro parameter. I'm not sure what intro that parameter skips. The logos maybe? I never tested, but I use it.

Here's the Steam mode parameters again:

I'm going to try these out with Assassin's Creed 3.

Somebody playing around with a hex editor more, has managed to disable popups while keeping the health indicator. The map is displayed (health is part of it) but the map is disabled. (kinda annoying, but sounds like the best of both worlds)

I messed around with the map editor earlier. It is fun although somewhat limited since you can't really add attachments to guns. But the functionality is there to build some pretty fun maps with AI or have some crazy battles.

So I had just cleared a camp. I was standing in a circle of dead bodies and carnage.

On the other side of the camp was a bird stuck in a cage, looking miserable. In a fit of animal compassions I decided to let this animal free. A quick whack and the door to the cage was open.

"You're free bird thing from Australia", I yelled pointing to the jungle just on the other side of the fence. Tentatively the bird stepped out. Then it died. To the Rakyat that showed up in a jeep.

That gave me a bit of a laugh.

I'm just a memory, I can't give you any new information.

On the "empty world" thing, what I'd like to see is actual conflict and choices.

Make it so that you cannot actually capture all of the bases in a game. You can clear them out, but you have to choose to call in reinforcements to hold the location.

At the start of the game, make it so that you have very limited reinforcements. Link story progression to the amount of bases you can hold at any one time and introduce mechanics where the bases are connected by patrol routes and friendly bases which are connected to each other by routes and which can get reinforcements can hold out longer or even indefinitely.

Make it so that you can establish a beachhead at the beginning of the game but over time you will lose those bases or maybe give them up willingly so you can take and hold a base somewhere else to help in current missions. Build to the point where you can legitimately hold half the island and have friendly and enemy bases in conflict along connecting patrol routes. As the game goes on keep upping the amount of forces you can have to the point you can take the whole island, but not until the end of the game.

The thing for me, is I liked the concept behind Assassin's Creed: Revelations' little wargames thing where you recruit dudes and send them on missions and take over the world for the Assassins. I want to be able to do that in real time, in a sandbox world I can explore and help in. I want to be able to recruit or train spies to infiltrate enemy bases, who I can have sabotage defenses and poo poo. I want a dynamic strategic ai to get involved so that you're both fighting the face to face gunbattles and a larger strategic game where you can draw the enemy out into ambushes or order reinforcements to pile into an enemy base from nearby friendly bases while you slip in the back and murder people.

My dream game, I guess, would be one where you really feel like you're a leader, not just the only dude in the world who is capable of really getting poo poo done. Imagine a Far Cry 5 where you fight over a country and if you play your cards right you can either sneak into the enemy base and destroy everything yourself, or build your military forces up to the point that they need your support but can do a bunch of the work themselves and you have a massive final assault on an entrenched enemy position where you have a squad of your best dudes infiltrate with you and kill the enemy leader while your army keeps them too concerned with the war outside to notice your infiltration inside.

I just really wish that someone would get that feeling of large scale conflict right. Make it fun to play but make it more than "you get notification this area is about to fall". Put the player in control of the strategic picture to the point that you know if a base is going to be in danger before it hits the "go help or lose it" point because you're actively involved in the bigger goings on.

Map editor can't modify the single player islands, only create small self-contained levels for dicking around in, either multiplayer or not.

Turtlicious posted:

Seems like somewhere in-between. DEFINITELY not Skyrim level, Skyrim gives you the keys to the city and lets you go to town. Skyrim has a scripting engine that accepts custom code and they give you access to the development tools, you can recompile and poo poo.

Extremely unlikely for that to happen, or else we'd already have it. No, what we have is an editor for making multiplayer maps or single player little skirmishes.

Past that, we're not sure. They claimed the game has really good modability, so we'll see.

So far all "mods" are just DLL hacks, which isn't really a mod at all.

Which is potentially moddable. I did a test with someone in a private match on a quick map I did with animals and vehicles. The vehicles worked, but the AI didn't (the animals just stood around). Making AI work in multiplayer is potentionally fixable with modding.

So, I was combing the beach this morning, when I stopped and saw a curious sight.

This poor guy swam up the shoreline and got himself stuck on land. He couldn't attack me or anything, he just kept trying to wriggle free in vain. I even walked over and tried to push him back in, but no good, he was stuck.

I didn't want to leave him there, and I needed a shark skin anyway, so I did the only thing I could.
