Yeah I was going to have to say the worst was either the Audi sexual assault kid or the juvenile Godaddy one until that farmer poo poo. The farmer one made the best jokes show up on my Twitter feed, though. Lots of Monsanto and federal subsidies stuff.

Not saying that commercial or multiple others weren't awful but seriously is this just a thinly veiled "I'm too cool to watch sports" post? Its the most watched thing on TV every year. If you were flipping to the superbowl to watch advertisements you deserve every horrible ad you were subjected to.

The real con of that ad is they aren't even targeting farmers. What would the point of that be? This isn't the 1800s, only a tiny percentage of this country works in agriculture. No, they want Mr. Middle Management Desk Wimp to feel like a badass when he tows his jetski.

That's Farmers Insurance, not State Farm. Edit: The Dodge Farmer ad is pretty much the same thing as the Clint Eastwood ad from last year. Hoorah America, we're made of tougher stuff, let's go work really hard, and buy a car we don't need!

Pretty sure State Farm and Farmers are based on the old Farm Bureaus and it's just a name. Also most farmers I know can be categorized into two groups: Group A are actual farmers, they drive beat up old farm trucks. Group B are "farmers" who hire illegal mexicans, bitch about socialism then hold their hands out for farm subsidies, and drive brand new trucks.

No, I was seriously more interested in watching Iron Man 2 (which I had never gotten around to seeing) than the Superbowl. I flipped to CBS when the movie went to commercials to keep up with the game and usually flipped back immediately if commercials were on. I had to finish watching the horrible Dodge ad to learn who was pandering so much.

My facebook feed had precious little about Superbowl ads, but this one came up three times. All talking about how great it was. Not surprising from my family in rural Oregon, but one of my 20-something friends here in Portland said it was "the best ad in recent superbowls" which caught me off guard quite a bit. I practically watch everything online these days, so watching live tv (and commercials) for the first time in months was actually a bit refreshing, though still pretty terrible. Still, it was nice to not have to see the same set of a dozen ads in every single commercial break I'm subject to. Particularly anything with babies in it really gets under my skin, especially ones like this (which has been playing constantly online) that have someone narrating as the baby. Do I just have an irrational pet peeve about this or are baby-centric commercial inherently irritating?

Who else got an ad for Scientology during the Super Bowl? I'm in the New York market, and I can confirm that Michigan didn't get it.

Baby commercials are rarely any good. I think they rely too much on audiences automatically thinking babies = cute and they don't bother putting anything else in the ad, if that makes sense. The writers just kinda assume "theres a baby, welp my work is done here".

The problem with it is that it's from the late 70's, whereas today the 'Farmer' archetype really doesn't exist anymore (Small Family Farms are incredibly rare now). It's appealing to people who buy trucks to be 'people that drive trucks', not because of any actual need.

What kind of car do you drive? If you said a Prius, Civic, I ride a bicycle, Volvo, I ride the bus, or anything other than a US made truck, well then you'll probably not get the ad. That's OK because they really don't give a poo poo about catering to you, since you're not going to buy a Ram anyway. But the kind of people in the market for a truck who may consider a Ram are the kind of people who like the ad.
