Olimar lets out a yawn as he continues to smoke, he stands removing the guard's tabard he had on, revealing his intricately designed dwarven deep delver armor. He brushes his armor absently before taking a large drag from the bottle of alcohol on him and telling the other prisoners, "Don't worry, everything will be OK." He sits back down crosses his legs and tosses the flask of liquor to Figuero, "Have a drink and calm down, lad."

Nessa shakes her head. "Fine, good enough. Wouldn't mind at least another person coming but either way, gotta go." She heads off towards the flayer. On the way, she pulls her helmet from the sling, smiling at it a little, and puts it on, then starts to wind the device as she goes. Mechanically, run, wind the thing for one round, then run until she can noticeably feel the thing's influence and guess its direction. Then finish winding, and head that way.

Hecate Hecate looks at Flora and Oreom heading outside the Manor, and then at Vanessa who went towards the Flayer chamber, and is torn between the two. Would she take the easy way out with Bonne? Although it was certain that after this botch job, there was no way to stay on Geareg anymore, and she still didn't trusted Barnabus well enough to be sure if he wouldn't discard her to quell Carbon's rage. And of course, there's always that little thing called... A conscience. For some reason that Hecate couldn't put her hands on, she just felt that leaving Vanessa and the others here would be something bad. Yes, it's stupid to feel that way about these morons who brought it on themselves but... Yes, looking after these people is going to be the real death of her. She grunts while following Vanessa. "I must be a goddamn Saint."

"Well, two people unmade part of the sealing that kept the Flayer's powers under check. This is a friendly advice since who knows what he can do if you get too close..." Hecate shrugs before conveying some more data to Nessa. Other details about the chamber mentioned as well!

: "If they don't find that squidhead, they're gonna get arrested. If they do, the absolute best-case scenario is they're gonna be slaves... an' as I understand it, that's only a squidhead's second-favorite thing to do ta people." "I was gonna go back an' scrape a coupla shelves inta my pack hopin' we'd get some better evidence of whatever Carbon's up to, but intentionally lettin' that thing outta where it's locked up is suicide, an' I wanna be as far away as possible by the time they let it loose." "Let's get Flora back to her pa, and get them what's waitin' for us, and get outta here before that tank shows up." Lefty is obviously reluctant to do so, given that he just ran away from there and probably couldn't follow through with anything if Carbon decided to raise the stakes, but unless someone else is gonna step up and take Flora back, he does it himself. Anyone (although I guess only Oreom and P'ui are left behind to not kill themselves by brainsucking) who feels like coming with is welcome to do so, this whole "hostage" thing is kind of lousy to Lefty in the first place. P'ui glances off at the others departing back the way they came and rolls her eyes. "If the apes want to die in flames or be lead away in manacles, that is their choice. She rummages around in her satchel for a moment, pulling out a small index card and handing it to Flora. "The Flora's ordeal will be over soon enough. She hopes there's no hard feelings, yes? If it needs a research partner, apothecary, or assassin, do look us up. She owes It a favor now, mind." "Now, we'd better get It to It's Father, before The Carbon decides to kill Her coworkers, yes? She would prefer to keep It for a while for Her own safety, but options have been left a little slim." P'ui nods to Lefty. "Let's go then, Ape. The Armor draws near."

Oreom Bonne Oreom accompanies Lefty to return Flora; not necessarily out of any sense of good-doing, but more as a token of appreciation for Flora being such a good sport about being his human shield for the past several minutes and never once slapping him for it. Granted, spurning his hand is enough to make him grumpy, but he supposed that Lefty deserved to have a little bit of muscle standing behind him to encourage Carbon to not just shoot him and be done with it, and he figured Carbon would find the rat about as intimidating as Oreom himself did. And you didn't start finding rats threatening after your sixth rat stew, either. He might have been a self-centered rear end in a top hat, but he wasn't actively TRYING to throw the other people on the job under the tank. Mostly.

Lefty, Oreom, Olimar, Figuero, Thorgeisl, P'ui: Flora stares at P'ui, dumbfounded. After a few moments she accepts the card and pockets it sighing. "... Would that we met under better circumstances." She attempts a weak smile. P'ui, Oreom and Lefty escort Flora up to the front gate of the manor and confront Nick and his group, who have Thorgeisl, Figuero and Olimar under gun point. James and Cyrus make a point to be behind the remaining two Guards. An approaching Steam Tank rumbles ominously closer and closer with each passing moment! Nick strides up a bit. "Right. I guess the best we can hope for here is to exchange at the same time?" He gestures over his shoulder and the Guards bring the PCs on his end up. You can go ahead with a proposed exchange or try to negotiate a bit more or dictate terms of the exchange, but you can hear that rumbling getting closer by the second! Vanessa, Hecate: Stepping back into the secret basement, you progress smoothly until you enter the sewer chamber where the research lab is. Even with the Anti-Magic Generator running smoothly, a voice penetrates Vanessa's mind. <Arrogance is unbecoming of the lesser races. Allow me to guide you.> It attempts to assert control. Vanessa: Make a Will Save.

Vanessa: You are under a compulsion. The voice continues instructing you. <Set the Device down. Proceed across the railway.> You cannot act or even speak out of turn unless you have an effect that may help against compulsion/mind-affecting. You can visualize a room where stocky, gray-skinned humanoids without eye sockets have been dissected on large tables. In the North of the room is a great and terrible carving of a malicious looking outsider. At the base of the stone is an iron-framed block of a weird gel-like substance with the barest silhouette of an alien something inside. <Destroy the remaining runic circles.> Hecate: Vanessa seems to be unusually silent and moving with direct purpose, as if she had been here before. She has set the Anti-Magic Generator down at the entrance.

Olimar nods at Lefty as he is led to the line, he trudges up to Lefty during the exchange and says, "Let's make this quick, you fellas want to be out of here before that tank-unit arrives." He digs in his pack, removing one item he keeps in his hand before handing the pack to Lefty, <dwarvish>Take this for me, I need to do something before I can meet up with you. Don't worry about the Dwarves."<dwarvish> He smiles at Carbon and turns, "Come on, Old Boy, let's make this quick, we haven't got all day, them dwarves are a lot more punctual than you humans ever thought to be." He has handed everything except his weapons, armor and the one item he is holding to Lefty for 'safe keeping'. He turns back to Lefty, <dwarvish>"Meet me where we were hired later on. I'll be around when I can. If I'm not, I guess everything in that is yours."<dwarvish> He gives a companionable grin, <dwarvish>"Because if we don't meet again I've died."<Dwarvish>

Olimar: Your actions are interrupted before you can leave Nick's side of the exchange at all, preventing you from meeting, speaking and passing items off to Lefty. Nick thrusts the barrel of his rifle into your stomach. "Woah there! What the Hell do you think we're doing, you drunken little idiot?" He guides you back to his Guards and grits his teeth, speaking very deliberately. "You hail your friends, they release Flora and she takes ten paces forward. I release you three idiots, all of you walk back to your respective sides and if you're lucky, you can accomplish this before the Patrol arrives, not that I care, but I'm trying to see things from your end." Vanessa and Hecate: You retreat back through the secret passageway. You have two choices for your path out. You can take secret stairs up to the Northern Vaults, or to the Southern Barracks. As you recall, Oreom had his duel in the Vaults and they were mostly empty. The Southern Barracks had a ton of unconscious troops in them, but as Hecate knows, also had at least three of Carbon's Guards running around with rifles and what not. Lefty, Oreom, P'ui: Flora ignores Lefty and tenses up, stepping 10 feet forward tentatively. She looks over to Nick's side of the camp. Figuero, Thorgeisl, Olimar: Nick gestures to you to get moving. Assuming you do, you get to move 20/30 feet each, Dwarven move-speed accounted for and all. You guys are able to move another 60 feet and get most of the way across the garden and toward the other party members when Flora moves 30 feet... to the North! She then casts a quick spell while well out of everybody's melee range and Vanishes, turning Invisible! Nick roars out. "RIGHT! Gun them down!" He and his Guards open fire and Cyrus throws his pipe over the lot of them, where it ignites into a roaring fireball that explodes across Figuero, Thorgeisl and Olimar. Bullets fly wide, but some meet their mark and Nick relishes the shot he lands square in Olimar's back. After the gunfire the fire whiplashes across the three! Edit: Reflex DC for the Fireball is 15. Figuero: You were missed by gunfire but take 12 damage from the Fireball, Reflex Save for half. Olimar: Nick's shot pierces your armor and impacts with a whistling sonic projectile that bleeds you good for 11 + 3 Sonic/Force damage. The fireball follows for another 12 damage, Reflex Save for half. Thorgeisl: You're only grazed in the arm for 2 damage by the Guard's shot, but the Fireball whips across you for a searing 12 damage, Reflex Save for half. At this point, you guys can run for it and escape onto the streets or call for Initiative. The Tank Brigade is very loud and close at this point, though! Welp, that went exactly as well as expected. How likely are the former-captives-current-targets from decent cover and a chance to escape? If they need cover, Lefty will cover. If they can reasonably get away, Lefty's bolting.

Edit: Reflex Save DC is 15. The nearest cover and the nearest escape are the same thing: running to the fence that separates the property from the street with one round's worth of double movements/running. The only hiccup is that if Olimar doesn't make his Reflex Save, he'll hit 0 HP and collapse. Then again, he is close enough for somebody to move up, grab him and then move out. He waves his badge at Carbon, "I never said I came solely with these lot, you just assumed. There's a reason I wasn't letting them hurt the girl. Vanessa and Hecate: All's clear in the Vault. However, taking the next set of stairs up to the first floor of the manor reveals that the front door is blocked by Nick, James, Cyrus and some Guards.
