Well, it's dead but if he had a tension pneumothorax or tamponade or blood in his chest simple measures can restore his circulation early on. Hence the obvious attempts at resuscitation seen on the body. There is an interview about the doctor in the ED who mentions he came in in arrest but that they did not just pronounce him but tried thoracotomy, etc.

It's only slightly relevant, but just last year Fabrice Muamba, a soccer player in England, suffered cardiac arrest during a game and did end up surviving thanks to the actions of the doctors, so cardiac arrest definitely doesn't definitively mean dead.

Oh, gently caress your smug elitism. Justice only exists by the efforts of people, and it only stays neutral as those people work to keep it neutral. Justice isn't some mystic entity that just happens, it requires a poo poo-load of work and for people to overcome emotions to hold to an ideal, and maybe we should celebrate the people who work to ensure justice, especially in a week where a bunch of first responders were vaporized in a fertilizer plant explosion.

Is it kosher to post a link to an export of the original thread that has been cleaned up and combined into a single page? I haven't exported it yet but I wrote a little program that will do it. Not sure how to handle the externally hosted images though, I'm thinking of just inlining them using the src="data:img base64" thing. Maybe better to download each external image and then just change the href so it is a local reference?

No, they weren't creepy. People were just reading way too much into them. The travel-sized shampoo thing is easily explained by Sunil's family moving to the Brown area to search for him, and staying there long enough to switch from travel-size to regular-size toiletries.

It was just a bunch of goons trying way too hard to find something creepy, and in the process casting aspersions on a completely innocent family in a very trying time for them. Way to go, goons!

The image that sticks with me today was of a K-9 (prob german shepherd) trotting along happily next to his handler while en route to the boat scene. Saw it on the ABC news feed after the scanner called for one--ONE--police dog.

This dog looked so happy and his tail was wagging--he was going for a walk with his person and having a good time. :)

About a year and a half back I was part of a line of cars at a TX border crossing (~300 miles from the border... with New Mexico) where there was a dog trotting along the line of cars, and he kept looking up at his handler with this big dopey dog grin, "Am I doin' good, boss? Am I doin' good?" Less than a quarter of the way along the line of cars they turned around and brought out a different dog. Dawgs. :3:

Seriously Boston, so amazing. I have friends/family/relatives scattered all over the world and they're so impressed that this was pulled off with so little collateral damage. One beautiful spring day going stir-crazy is a small price to pay.
