Ok, I'm gonna try one last time.

On their front page they bang on about storage expandable by USB.
On their latest blog post they say that games on expandable storage are to come.

These two statements do not marry up, and I specifically said that if you want to split hairs about this then you could, and that I just felt it was misleading.

You need to be more reasonable because you are coming off as a bit dim, that derail about the PS4 controller was just beyond stupid.

I agree it's definitely misleading. I think what Aweful is trying to say is that if you are go to that site as a prospective OUYA customer to read up about the features, then what's relevant to you isn't what the OUYA has now, it's what the OUYA will have in June when you can actually get one. So I think he's saying that if OUYA can deliver the extended games storage by June, then it's alright to promise that feature to customers who can get an OUYA until June anyway.

I can see his reasoning, but I can see your argument, too. It's all a very bungled & unclear situation that would have been better served by OUYA being honest about the March release being a beta version. If they had labeled the current release as a beta, they could then say that the full version will have extended storage and it probably would have been okay.

But since they originally said the March release was the full version, only to backpedal afterwards, now everything's all screwed up. They've put out so many different versions of the truth that pretty much anything they say is sure to conflict with something else they've said.

This new shipment update wasn't a big step forward, either. I would say it's marginally better... but, it's like 6th grade instead of 4th grade. Even if it's not as bad as the first, you can't really say it's an "improvement". Ah, well.

And again, I don't see the problem - ouya.tv is talking about the finished product - I mean, if you order an OUYA based on that site, you won't have one until June, at which point theoretically they'll have the feature (assuming they even make their June launch). You seem to be getting rather pissed off at them for doing what every product manufacturer does, talk about the features that will be on the unit at the time that you can buy it. I mean, Sony is saying this about the PS4:

It says the DS4 incorporates all this stuff, it doesn't say it *will* incorporate it. That doesn't mean they are lying or being shady or trying to trick anyone.

Yeah, it's just like that time Sony promised a bunch of features that weren't in the PS3, then pretended the launch date was 6 months later and included the features it didn't have before.

It really depends on whether you do it by air freight or by ship. Air is pretty quick but shipping can obviously take a few weeks. Honestly when they're already way behind it'd be dumb to try and make it up by splashing their tiny cash reserve on air freight so I'd expect that's what they're going to do.

Probably "[I] dunno where you heard that; it isn't true." Does that make more sense? A lot of people drop the subject at the beginning of sentences when they're being casual. I do it a lot, especially when typing. It's not proper grammar, of course, so I can see how it could be annoying or confusing. If that was your problem, I wouldn't hold it against you.

edit: I thought of a good example of this phenomenon. The beginning of the song "My Fat Baby" features six sentences in a row that drop the subject.

"Warm out today. Warm yesterday. Even warmer today. Met her on my CB. Said her name was Mimi. Sounded like an angel come to earth."

I thought i already answered this...someone was saying that the Ouya website claims that the system supports external storage, but it currently does not, so they were obviously lieing bastards trying to trick people, and that's why he really hated the company. I was giving an example of how ALL system manufacturers talk about features in their upcoming systems as existing in the present, though they don't exist yet, and they aren't ever seen as lieing or trying to trick people by doing so. The Ouya folks have really spun some things hard, but not in this specific case - they were just listing system features (on the page designed for new sales, technically), and of course the fact that the system didn't launch feature-complete yet is old news.

So screwing over your early backers, who incidentally make up a significant portion of the people developing games for your marketplace, and who quite literally bankrolled your development and manufacturing with a feature-incomplete and inferior beta version of the console is an acceptable business practice to you?

Nope. This too I already said - when they realized in early February that they wouldn't have all of the software features ready for the promised March launch, they should have announced this fact to the Kickstarter backers, and held a poll asking if they would rather get the unit early but with incomplete software, or wait a month or two and get it feature-complete. As a Kickstarter project most backers would have been understanding of a delay, as long as they communicated it correctly (I'm betting most people would have responded "get it early but incomplete", but that doesn't mean they should have just assumed that and suddenly started talking about it as a sneak preview as if it were that all along).

The Ouya company's biggest problem is communication (followed by being overly optimistic, but I can't come down too hard on them for that, because I too have that problem).

Here's the difference: Sony actually designs and finalises product specs and details months in advance of shipping, so while the DS4 is for an upcoming system, it does also actually exist in the present right at this time, you're just not able to have one.

In comparison to the Ouya which is still being designed despite having already started shipping what were supposed to be the final system, and that use of the present tense is a giant loving lie that you can verify by owning an Ouya.

Yeah, I figured someone would bring that up. Certainly sounds bad. Apple is still trusting them to manufacture the majority of their iPad minis though. And that contract went through a year after the explosion.

Aren't they just generally a pretty massive company that you can't just write off because of something like that? I can't tell if they still do, but apparently they've manufactured both 360 and PS3 in the past? People use them because their cost is so low, not because its good. The manufacturing of the Xbox 360 was not successful either by any means.

If they only do the case and assembly of the large components then it doesn't matter who does it because there is very little to go wrong at that point. Just whoever costs the least.
