Tea partiers speak a different language. It uses english words but changes the meanings. It's basically slang. In their language "socialist, Muslim, nazi, communist, pacifist, gay, weak, and liberal" are all synonyms which mean "evil, bad, dumb, etc." while "Christian, conservative, family, traditional, guns, military, Reagan, and the bible" are also all synonyms for which mean "good, comfort, safe, etc."

I mean from this language it makes sense that they don't like us, when they read our words it's translated to them as "evil bad I love genocide murder your family kill all."

I bet this isn't actually unique in even the slightest, I'm just noticing it with them when it probably happens everywhere. Maybe if we learn their language we can communicate with them!

It's not our fault they were poorly educated and indoctrinated into evangelical Christianity. I honestly believe that the biggest problem we face is that a cornerstone of conservative ideology is teaching each other to immediately knee-jerk reject any idea they don't already agree with. As soon as they read or hear something they don't agree with, they instantaneously attack it or dismiss it as objectively false without so much as a second thought. I can't think of any way to get around that barrier, especially when they love to project their bullheadedness onto us.

I think this is most apparent when the issue of global warming comes around. Their position boils down to “we are banking everything on the possibility that the scientists are either lying or wrong”. They refuse to even entertain the thought that the scientists could be correct. It is beyond the realm of possible scenarios for them. This is why I think they refuse to even acknowledge the stakes. If we assume the scientists are right, whether or not they actually are, we end up with a clearer and nicer world to live on. If we assume the scientists are wrong and do nothing we get to live on a dirty poo poo hole planet and if it turns out they were right after all we all loving die.

If I had to guess why they are like this I would assume they see all issues as a slippery slope. If the liberals are correct about a single issue then it will steam roll into complete ideological defeat.

No, its that they think the second coming is like, any loving day now, and that gawd is not going to let anything bad happen to his favorite planet. It also can be justified in that they suspect that once the worldly resources are used up, jesus will come a calling. Its like getting a tin of cookies from your relatives and then finding out they're coming over, you want to finish it off quickly so they feel you appreciated their gift.

So either its that they believe that god will save us all (except for those loving liberals) or that in order for the world to end and justice to reign supreme, it is their christianly duty to tell everybody who doesn't believe 'gently caress you, we're destroying this planet because jesus'.

There is no personal logic to it at all. They just internalize (and are constantly reinforced by) mass media information. But it does encourage obstinate opinions as well. As long as the energy companies buy advertising on the news networks (or make generous public broadcasting donations) the jury will remain out on climate change in the court of public opinion. My big fear is when things really start crashing down the dominant narrative will become 'divine retribution against gay liberals' since 'we're stubborn and this is our own fault' doesn't sell products.

This is precisely why if you come across someone who doesn't "believe" in climate change, it's a good idea to not take anything they say seriously whatsoever. Best case, they're profoundly ignorant and uneducated. Worst case, they're legitimate sociopaths who want to see future generations burn so that corporations can squeeze out a few more bucks.

Or both. There's always the option that it's both.

Pretty much this. Its terrible because they wish to spite everyone else and everyone else's religion for the sake of theirs.

For example, I asked someone once who had a big sticker with 'In GOD we trust' on their bumper, and I asked whose god? They of course said theirs and I asked how they knew...

It's been said before repeatedly, but I love how the evil overlords the conspiracy theorists envision are simultaneously all-powerful, all-seeing evil geniuses, and completely loving incompetent morons. They literally think that a man sent to secretly plant a bomb, in public, in order to orchestrate a 'false flag' attack that is presumably supposed to remain secret, would just go ahead and openly wear the logo of the organization he works for while he does this dirty deed. And not wear it just anywhere, no, he's got it plastered right there on his loving forehead where it's plainly visible.

The conspiracy theorists are kinda screwed both ways - either the Boston Bombing 'false flag' conspiracy theory is a load of bullshit, or, if it's correct, the New World Order are so loving retarded that there is no possible way they will ever take over the world.

The United States is pretty cool in that it was the first political revolution based on Enlightenment ideas of rationality, science, and free will. Like the Arab Spring it triggered Revolutions in France, Poland (Kościuszko), and South America (Bolivar).

The problem is most people are pretty stupid and there is no uber-rational worldview. But one day that can change with modern information technology, and as a living document the Constitution can integrate IT for a better citizenry (the CIA factbook and the opportunity for old codger congressman to run their mouths on Twitter are good places to start). The Constitution mandates a Postal Service already. What is the Mail but a way of sending and receiving recorded information?

The problem is that it is in some people's interests to feed simple messages to the superstitious, gullible, and misanthropic.

I think its supposed to be how jet fuel burns at a certain temperature, releasing X amount of heat, and in order to turn steel molten, it has to be Y amount of heat.

The problem being is that the steel is not just fine and dandy up until Y amount of heat where it suddenly and instantly turns to liquid, but warps and buckles, weakening the structure. This isn't a video game where the steel has one HP left and therefore is just fine.
