The thing I don't get about the whole furry thing is how people can base their entire life and decisions, interactions and ambitions around a fetish of all things. You also see it with nerd fandom and how people dedicate themselves to some form of media like TV shows, movies or anime, card games and video games, but to say "gently caress it, everything I do henceforth revolves around this weird sexual kink I have regarding furry creatures." It just baffles me that people can actually function (this is questionable) this way.

I deal with these people daily through my work. These are people who often have trouble socializing with real people. They form attachments to anime characters that they validate by buying their merchandise. In their circles of online "friends" the one with the most is envied. Most of the extreme ones with rooms full of stuff and posters everywhere will usually have everything from one show or about one character. TLDR its all about e-peen Not all of them are terrible at decorating, some of them are working professionals with kids. They just keep a separate "hobby room" like a sane person typical bad Good You dont even want to know how much those dolls are worth. That bottom pic is probably about 80k worth of stuff. Most people guess they are worth a few hundred each. The nice thing about the hobbies with the most crazies is the very active used market. You can usually liquidate your collection for retail pricing or more very easily. If I had those dolls I would have no problem selling them on yahooauctions.jp in a matter of minutes for at least 80k They are called Dolfies and they are a whole other brand of crazy. It takes the whole waifu crap to another level since you dont have to leave your pillow at home People pay thousands for a custom head and thousands more for custom clothes. Ball-jointed dolls/dollfies loving terrify me, every time I go to a con there are those weird girls walking around with them and it's something I can't mentally comprehend. Most anime figures it's easy to collect without going financially overboard, in the right places they're no more expensive than a videogame or a couple of blu-rays every payday. It's when you start spending $200-300 on anime girls in swimsuits that things really start going downhill. Maybe it's just me not being one to typically resell stuff but I've never gotten the obsession with keeping poo poo in boxes like this. It's like some kind of nerd one-upsmanship especially when people are super condescending to people who take stuff out of the box. There was a great moment on a James May show about old toys where he went to a model train auction and took the thing out of the box to play with it and some of the looks he got were hilarious. You can watch the bit here.

"10 years in the making" A lot of these people were probably like 12 when they thought to do this, I wonder just how many of them ducked out in those 10 years. I mean that's a long loving time to acquire some self-awareness, not to mention grow up, what we have left are the unlucky few who managed neither.

HoneyBoy posted:"10 years in the making" I think when they say it's 10 years in the making they mean it's been 10 years since the first Kingdom Hearts came out because when you've taken the name, logo and probably some music as well you might as well try and piggyback on the series anniversary.

N. Senada posted:You guys like VIDEO GAMES and MUSICALS and DISNEY and FINAL FANTASY? I'm going to take a wild guess and say that, like A Very Potter Musical, this musical will be 3 hours long with maybe 5 or 6 actual songs. The rest of the running time will be filled by "wacky and random" (i.e. awkward) skits and/or irrelevant pop culture references. Also, the songs will all be the same generic pop/rock poo poo you hear in every parody musical.

N. Senada posted:You guys like VIDEO GAMES and MUSICALS and DISNEY and FINAL FANTASY? I watched so many of these videos. The folks spend the musical (what of it they've shown) winking to the audience and saying "Yeah, we're in on the joke, too!" But there's no joke within it. They're trying to be campy. It's very much like they took a bucket of ironic quotation marks and threw it at the script, so there's tons of around the entire thing. Are they being meta about the game? Meta about the musical? It's just adults saying "gently caress" a lot. Its biggest sin is that it isn't good enough OR bad enough. Mouse Dresser has a new favorite as of 06:50 on Jun 5, 2013 |

Benne posted:Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis fired his PR agent today because of a Sports Illustrated article that said big mean things about his daddy. Last Saturday, I saw a guy driving a big rear end truck with giant Raider flags all over, and raider themed black and silver testicles hanging from the trailer hitch. There were at least 6 or seven giant flags; so much so that it was probably a hazard. He got out and was the stereotypical cholo from head to toe: bald head, dark shades, crisp white t-shirt, jorts, and white socks pulled up high. While we both waited for our food, he tried to talk about how bad rear end the raiders were, keep in mind this is in San Diego where the chargers are the team, so he might have been looking for a bit of a debate. But I told him I've never been really into football, but if it's his thing, he should let his flag fly...literally. He told me "RAIDERS RULE" as he bro fisted me on his way out with his Carne Asada burrito. I want that guy to see this picture so bad.
