This is an interesting special effect from the movie. John Carpenter wanted a computer wireframe view of the city as Snake Plisskin came in on his glider, but it was much too expensive to do on an actual computer in 1981. Instead, the crew made a model of New York City, put tape on the edges of the buildings, and filmed it under black light.

Abe Lincoln vs. Zombies is one of the more impressive features Asylum has put out, it's hilarious. No real excuse not to check it out either if you have Netflix, since I think it's still on there. To be honest, I think the most interesting thing about this illusion is the fact that schizophrenics aren't fooled by it. Rather than the hollow face appearing to be a convex, normal face, like it does for most people, schizophrenic patients see it for what it is - a concave mask. Some really neat stuff; but I probably find it neat cause I studied neuro :science:
