re: the GBA talk, one game that I only encountered through a random stroll through some ROMs back in the day that I found quite interesting was the Europe-only platformer Go Go Beckham: Adventures on Soccer Island. While the temptation to throw Becks himself into a pit of lava is always strong, the gameplay was very original, and 100%ing the game took a bit of ingenuity at times. Everything you did in the game involved kicking a soccer ball---gathering coins, attacking enemies, etc.---and with different balls with their own physics and the occasional magic power allowing for huge bends or to get the ball back without having to chase it, it really was something different in platforming. Definitely aimed at younger audiences, it's not difficult to clear through the final boss, but the real challenge is, as I said, going for a 100% collection rate.

Welp, was finally able to hit up a local store with money. Bill and Ted's Excellent Videogame Adventure and Ducktales were gone but Rescue Rangers was still there so I got that for $6 and a pretty decent (as long as I didn't overpay) consolation game. Both are what is probably considered Like New condition. Can someone tell me what Megaman tends to cost? Oh and I spend $8.50 in store credit on a nice copy of Super Punchout.

They're not a ton until the 5th and 6th ones, which will run a lot more. A full set of 1-6 will run about $150. V: Yeah that's a fine price for number 4, it runs $15+ on eBay and is probably the best game in the NES series. 3 is also great, 2 and 1 are good, 5 and 6 are very polarizing but had much more limited manufacturing runs. Even back in the days of Funcoland they were way more expensive than the other ones. Safari Disco Lion fucked around with this message at 22:40 on Jun 30, 2013 |

Ok because the consolation game (that I think I saved from a life on eBay) was Megaman 4 and I spent $19 on it so I'm hoping I didn't get screwed on the price. Also that gives me hope I might be able to get a copy of 1 and 2 at some point. 2/3rds of a series is better than 0/3rds.

I recently modded my SNES mini/jr. for RGB and it looks amazing on my girlfriend's 50+ inch TV with my xrgb, but I noticed that some of the sound effects on my recently purchased copy of Super Mario World are slightly off from my memory. I know the mini/jr. has a different DSP from the old-school purple SNES that I grew up with. Would this account for the change in sound effects? I ran the audio through my receiver and directly into the TV with the same results. I know this is going to get a little , but... The most obvious sounds that are different: the sound effect when Mario gets the cape and the sound when he enters/exits a pipe. It doesn't sound bad, it's just different. Also, the "whistley" part of the song from the first overworld area that I know so well is barely audible. I had to really mess with the EQ to bring it out. I haven't noticed anything off about the other two games I have (F-Zero & Super Mario RPG). I preordered an sd2snes , so maybe I can experiment with the various revisions of SMW and see if that's why it's off?

Following post maybe for naked cartridges. Boxes just slow down the fun (except for the Mega Drive.) This is the latest edition to my collection. The games from left to right are Granada, Bare Knuckle 2 (streets of Rage 2), PuyoPuyo and Gain Ground. I picked it up as package as it included BK2 and Gain Ground, but Granada turned out to be a nice surprise. It's a free-roaming SHMUP(?) which is pretty basic at its core, but fun in practice. I'm planing to gut PuyoPuyo for a flash cart. It seems I have so many copies of that game. Expanded the SFC collection. Thanks to Shibawako for suggesting 'Nankoku Shonen Papuukun.' I don't understand what's going on at all and I love every second of it. Also Mr Nutz. Picross and Vegas Stakes, just cause. And stumbling across this article got me interested in the two sumo games; Ozumo Spirits and Super Ozumo - Nessen Oichiban . Still figuring out how they work, but they're a nice change of pace from the usual fighting games. Also, Miyamoto sending me the GB copy of James Bond has sent me down a dangerous path... Yoshi's Panepon(Tetris Attack), Tetris, Picross, Link's Awakening DX, Pokemon Red, Wario Land and Mario Land 2 in the SuperGB2. I'm thinking about getting a copy of Pokemon Blue and real deal GB along with a link cable to see if I can catch 'em all. Only issue I have is that the battery in in ML2 is dead. So I guess I better learn how to fix that. Luckily I had already picked up this DTC-20 screwdriver. That's Japanese for 3.8mm Gamebit, only its marked as 3.6mm(?). This one is made by ENGINEER and is quality construction. The DTC-27 is the one that opens consoles, if you're looking for these on Rakuten. Add a US copy of Golden Eye (supplied by the aforementioned Miyamoto himself) and a copy of good old Derby Stallion (JP), and we can have a little fun swapping the backs. Note the position of the indents on the cases. Now I'm a happy boy. I know most of you already know about this, but its been a first for me coming from PAL land Anybody want a copy of Derby Stallion ready to play on your US N64? It's not that much worse than fixing an SNES to work. The tabs are harder to get to and sturdier so you have to do more work to get them off, but once they're gone you can fit games from any region into the modded console.
