BonoMan posted:I'd love to know how you financed that journey. Have you done an Ask/Tell about it? I was planning making a thread about it once I got all my photos and writing sorted out. I've been writing a journal/story about it, I'm at 30 pages so far and just about half way through. I have 2GB of photos and videos I'm going through as well. The first three countries, Thailand, Malaysian Borneo, and Bali were a field school I did for a geography minor, then I just went to Australia and New Zealand since I was already relatively close and have wanted to go there as long as I could remember. As for funding, I received some inheritance money. Someday I will start a thread, because I saw and experienced some really incredible, non-tourist things that in hindsight are kind of hard to believe really happened.

It doesn't make much difference since there isn't a lot of continuity, but Brad Pitts is the latest episode, not the earliest. They are listed in the correct order on the website (Oldest first): http://www.helpingyoumaintain.com/episodes I just thought I'd point it out because the earlier episodes are almost straight comedy, but they start introducing some darker and more story-heavy elements in the later episodes.

It also has pretty much every giant robot or derivative under the sun(though not Pacific Rim), Godzilla, and even Spider-Man's giant robot Leopardon from 1978 Spider-Man live-action Japanese tv show. This is from about a hundred posts ago, but I didn't realize the sad history of Metallica; it explains their passion for me. They lost a founding member so very early on. Here's one of my favorites from a band that lost a founding member at their peak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESAZFiD9rAU The awesome guitar work is Ricky, Cindy's brother, who told no one about his aids. One day he just said he's too sick to perform. Their story is so strong; I should look for a docudrama about how they took such a gut punch and came back with Cosmic Thing just to neatly bookend the 80's. edit// this one is also good because Fred shuts the gently caress up for a minute Subliminal Sauce fucked around with this message at 03:45 on Aug 6, 2013 |

I posted a little short a while ago made by a new animation studio helmed by some of the best animators in Japan called Studio Trigger. The short was called Little Witch Academia, and was a one-shot about a witch school(based on something much older than Harry Potter, forget what it was called). It's a cute, fanservice-free fantastical romp with gorgeous animation and they're currently running a Kickstarter to fund a second episode, which is an extraordinary thing since Japanese companies are very set in their ways, but Trigger is being really open and willing to accept change with their development styles. If you'd like to see more of Little Witch Academia, they'd like to make more of it, maybe even a full series(once their current projects are over). There's two days left on their kickstarter and some of the rewards are pretty awesome. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1311401276/little-witch-academia-2 The first episode for posterity, they uploaded it to their Youtube channel themselves because they realized it was futile to stop people uploading it elsewhere, so released it officially. They're basically the (old) Google of Japanese animation studios. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBlqxEIJ_Cg&hd=1

Centipeed posted:I'd be interested to know about the last couple of characters, which appear to be larger than the known universe. Gurren Lagann begins literally in a hole in the ground and by the end of it, The MOON is a massive space battleship. That is also a robot. It's also only the third biggest mech in the series.. It's very much a self-aware love letter to the mecha genre, made by some of the people who helped create the current iteration of it(Gainax, the Gunbuster and Evangelion people). It revels in its absurdity and that's why it's so popular, there's only one or two episodes where things are not constantly ramping up and getting more ridiculous. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkkFPrNdKu0 The newspaper I assume is an injoke or commenting on how huge that edition of it is or something.
