Is there a mod that makes enemies react to the horn (slow/stop, move out of the way, etc)? I reflexively honk it to get their attention sometimes and it's a bummer how they don't seem to react.

There should be a mod that would make the horn like the Fus Ro Dah shout in Skyrim.

Considering the amount of horns I've put on my truck I could probably clear the road for miles in front of me. :v:

It's the most strangely relaxing driving around listening to the radio sim I have ever played. It defies words in that regard.

Plus there's those occasional moments where you zone out and go down an offramp at 120km/h and oh poo poo a stoplight aaaaah

ETS is my new relaxation game.

When official Oculus Rift support makes it in, this game will be the ultimate get away. Fully immersed in your drive, music playing through headphones, looking around as the miles roll by....

Even falling asleep at the wheel will have a realistic feel and viewpoint.

It's gonna be like one of those cyberpunk bad-ends, just a neckbeared slumped in his computer chair, head tilted back, drooling. Paramedics have to cut the Rift off of his face, and are revolted to see he has no eyes. Slowly, the goon lifts his arm up, and pulls down an invisible cord. He mutters, slackjawed, "honk... honk."

Sorry I didn't get the new POTW assigned in Steam group last week - I was on vacation and couldn't be arsed.

Two great submissions worthy of POTW honors.

From Wolfhammer: "Delivering the goods"

From Poil: "Just passing through"

I'll set Wolfhammer as POTW for this week and Poil for next. Keep the submissions coming!

In the spirit of the financial discussions I finished a 55k job. I repaid the 60k or so left on my 100k loan, then I repaired my truck which cost about 20k leaving me at -18k. The bank didn't even send me an email after that. All the damage to my truck was me being deliberately irresponsible. I did about 13% damage running into a toll both barrier. I probably should have used the brakes a bit more.

Next up I want to expand the business so I can drive recklessly all the time.

Goddammit this Cello is way out of tune!
I slightly bumped into a car at a red light. It somehow was completely obliterated from the slight bump which wouldn't do jack poo poo in damage. Just trading some paint if that. Then I drove around it. Got a wrong way ticket. Lights weren't on my truck because I could see perfectly at the time. Got the ticket for improper light use. Drove around the car, and I was 1mm over the line. Ticket for running a red light.

If this game was realistic, I wouldn't have gotten that many fees for bumping into a car.

You know where you are? You're in the suburbs, baby. You're gonna drive.

Editing economy.sii is fun, just doubled experience point generation and the amount of experience for parking the trailer manually.

I also found this line:
Default:
code:
	simulation_avg_speed: 62.0	# km/h
Changed to:
code:
	simulation_avg_speed: 90.0	# km/h
Should give a more accurate time prediction on the GPS. Actually it speeds up the AI truckers

I Also decreased the per delivery amount you get, but balanced it by increasing the per km amount. (from €600/€15 to €500/€25) so for a first level, 100km trip you get as a base (before skill bonuses) €3,000 instead of €2,100, and for a 2,000km run you get as a base €50,500 instead of €30,600.

This replaces the currencies mod included in the modpack torrent.

I disagree.

I don't want to wear a $300 brick taped to my face in order to look around, or be stuck with reduced graphics in order to ensure 60 fps 100% of the time, or have to eschew most contemporary UI design.

But then I'm admittedly super butthurt about the giant circlejerk over Oculus Rift and random retards demanding literally every game under the sun have Oculus Rift support when TIR has existed and been affordable for ages and just was never supported by anyone.

Some info from the interview:
- a linux version will be launching together with the DLC on the 20th
- world of trucks, for starters, will be a website (a "service" running on top of the game) that allows some sort of customization
- later they want to evolve this to allow for meta-gaming, e.g. virtual trucking companies, social interaction kind of thing
- down the line, SCS have ambitions for creating an actual expansive trucking mmo (that we've all been hoping for)
- new volvo truck will be a free update
- another free update down the line will include 3 new trucks
- new, improved AI is being developed
- they're considering Xbone and PS4 ports for ETS2

I was popular, once.
As long as the new and improved AI means the enemy vehicles pose more of a challenge than just randomly stopping or pulling into your lane then I say bring it! Also the virtual trucking company thing will at least feed the appetite for spreadsheets.

Also also, free trucks is always a plus, as long as it includes official Mercedes support! :getin:

I think someone else already suggested this, but I'd go bonkers over a Mad Max/Deathrace mod that played almost exactly like the base game, but with the addition of MUCH more aggressive enemy AI (only when you're hauling) and the ability to put defensive (and offensive) poo poo onto your truck and trailer. poo poo like huge fuckoff spikes to impale your enemies on and pneumatic bolt guns. The contracting company would give you more money the more enemies you killed and less the more damaged the cargo was.

- coach sim will be titled Bus Simulator 2
- Bus Sim 2 is below ETS2 and ATS in priority, will not be released any time soon. (1, maybe 2 years away)
- They're negotiating with Mercedes to get the brand in the game. Also, brands are featured for "free" SCS don't have to pay royalties or anything to the manufacturer.
