For taping your feet, I don't know what your local equivalent would be, but moleskin. Not actually the skin of a mole, but this stuff: http://www.soap.com/p/dr-scholls-mo...pla&cagpspn=pla No poo poo, this stuff is awesome. As for marksmanship, that's really hard to diagnose without seeing you in person. But in general the basics are hard to go buy. Get a good stance, grip firmly but don't choke it. Make sure your sight picture is the same each time. Relax. Breathe. Let the shot out at the same point in your breathing rhythm. Squeeze the trigger and don't slap it. Or alternatively, I lost so much weight in basic training that I started getting the tremors loving terribly until I could get out and eat a reasonable meal, but I doubt that's your problem.

Nah, no gold bars for you. I'm more surprised to see the words hot bath and basic in the same post though. DEET, hot showers, tweezers and a mirror. Tuck/blouse your pants into your boots, wear long sleeves and button the wrists, douse the back of your neck in DEET, wear a hat with a wide brim and shake it off once in a while, especially when you're pissing around in the woods. Ticks like to fall off of trees and poo poo, so stay on as clear a part of trail as possible. If you're going to be set up in the same area for a while you can always go get those insecticide yard sprays and hose down a patch where you'll be camped and whatnot. A bottle in the states usually runs $10~ and would be enough to do a campsite. Carry a hand mirror and tweezers for checking obvious places, but that's like an unwritten rule that a shitload of people don't know about because they weren't raised as hill folk.

LITERALLY SHAKING posted:Nah, no gold bars for you. I'm more surprised to see the words hot bath and basic in the same post though. DEET, hot showers, tweezers and a mirror. Buying a hand mirror for when I go back in, good advice. Basically GMU (Basic Military Training) in Sweden is 3 months, we have weekends off (aside for a few where we have to stay in, I think its four) So the hot bath was today at home. After the 3 months and if you pass you decide if you want to sign up and then you get a trial period that is half a year and some more in depth training. If they like you theny you sign a contract that is upwards to 8 years. We're basically always pissing about in the woods. No desert camps in Sweden. Just lots of wet rain, mosquitoes and ticks. For the guy above you with the markmanship advice, thanks, its basically what the trainers are telling me. I know my stance needs more attention. I think it went well in the beginning because I was going solidly by the basics every time I squeezed the trigger, but when I got more comfortable and cocky I started trying to get my shots downrange faster and skipped important steps. I need to get back to the basics. Losing weight isn't a problem because they are literally stuffing us full of food (when they aren't starving us)

Pay isn't very good, like say 2800$ / month. Benefits rock though. You can live on base for 130$/month (while trying to find your own apartment), meals are cheap and loving awesome. Free dental/medical. Etc. If you get field training (staying in field over the day when employed) you get 150$ / day extra plus 8 hours of vaccation time. (4 of those you can sell back to the military) So if you're in the field a lot training you get hella pay and free days. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm a loving dumbass. There is a road coming off of NAS Whiting Field (AFTER the gate house) that apparantly is still base. I didn't know that. Speeding ticket there, 65 in a 45 because its a loving highway. I have a clean driving record, civilian and on base. In fact, I'd never been pulled over before this (even though I obviously drive like an idiot) What penalties can I expect? I'm not going to get like a month of no driving on base am I? Also, I'm expecting orders in the next week, the next traffic court for the base is in like four weeks. The cop had no clue what I should do. Should I just refer to my CoC for that?

If I can swing this properly, I can get my orders, go to traffic court, get my mandatory however long off base, and then take leave for all of it as I PCS. That's probably not going to happen.

Navy O-1 here. Being involuntarily separated (honorable discharge) and would like some advice on what I should be doing before I get the gently caress out. Anything I should be doing right now with regards to veteran benefits. Time on AD was 8 months not counting OCS. I know I get 50% of post-9/11, but other than that...I am at a loving loss as to what else is available to me. Also, what is the best way to did a "do it yourself move" once I am leaving AD? Does one simply go to the property office on base and tell them to issue moving allowance ahead of time? Sorry, but this poo poo caught me completely off guard and I know jack poo poo about anything but being corrected.

O-1 Ensign. OCS Commissioned in May 2013. Was in flight school down in Pensacola, Florida. NFO pipeline. Flight school was not working out for me and was sent to a Probationary Officer Review and Continuation Board. Was not selected for any re-designation into any designator and basically told: thank you for your service, we are not in need of junior officers at the moment. Slated for removal from AD into IRR January 31, 2014. Basically, OCS guys are given the boot if their primary designator doesn't work for them. ROTC and Academy guys have more money invested in them and Navy doesn't give them the boot as easily as it was for me. Most of my command say it is due to force reductions and whatnot. No DUI or anything. I will be getting an honorable discharge. I have never had any disciplinary action of any kind what so ever.
