I guess if you've grown up playing nothing but 70 fov on widescreens then 110 may look real weird.

Based on other people here you should be good to run medium-high without too much issue depending on what card you have. Just as a reference how BF4 runs in a lower end system: I have stock i5-750, 8 GB RAM, stock HD 6950 1GB GPU. The game runs buttery smooth above 60 fps with low settings even on 64 player conquest nearly all the time, sometimes dipping below 50 when the going gets really hectic. And the game still looks awesome on low settings, even though FPS wise I could go higher but I want my inputs to be not hampered by lower fps.* *The mean FPS is around 80. Anyone watching the EU vs USA X1 Showdown? I can't because I'm at work but I'm wondering what it's like for the poor console folks to play BF4 32v32. I still wish that we could mixed all the console players with the PC players haha. Or at least choose to play with them (using a custom search).

Mutation posted:Don't you worry about that high of a FOV making everyone look really, really tiny? If you want to try long shots with ironsights I guess it's harder, but just put a scope on there and it's fine. After a certain point everything is small regardless of FOV anyway. On the other hand it really helps in close to mid ranges because you are able to see quite a bit more of the area around you.

Aside from the constant crashes, the time I spend actually playing the game has been a blast. I don't get the deal with the infantry combat in this game though. I would consider myself competent at fps games but I feel like I always lose my one-on-one engagements. Is there a secret to shooting mans that I'm missing? I'm still using the starting rifle. In the meantime, I made some emblems based off the Planetside empires.

GentlemanGiant posted:They travel slower and drop faster, but not nearly enough to make a difference. The drop makes a huge difference. You basically can't do proper long range shots at all with HE rounds - you have to aim as high as you can to get a few hundred meters and the round is so slow anyone can dodge it easy. In a brawl they're awesome though - just win straight up.

Lazyfire posted:No, you hosed up. One of the changes from the beta to the release game is that you can only hit the counter button during the prompt. Hitting it before the prompt will make it not appear and you'll lose the fight no matter how many times you hit it. Wish I'd known that. It's a cool mechanic, though. I was like "yes your life belongs to me now" but he stabbed me cleanly, it was horrible.

I doubt its a bug since you can do this in any vehicle. More likely DICE just didn't think to delay countermeasures whenever someone exited the drivers seat

It's a bug. It's a mechanic (flare cooldown) being subverted by an unrelated action (switching seats).

Why they don't change it so that it countermeasure use is tied to the vehicle instead of the driver is beyond me.

Well, I feel dirty. I picked up the recon kit to get its sniper-rifle assignment out of the way. I do like how sniping mechanics feel in this game, but at the same time the act is either frustrating, meaningless or tedious if not all three. The biggest issue is that range that the mid-range scopes are effective in seem to be well within the comfortable zone of ARs and LMGs. So you're either the jackass in the hills (and therefore its only a matter time before you're knifed or run over) or half the time your target or his buddy start shooting back at you which throws off your aim. On the plus side though I got through Bronze and Silver in a single map and now have whiz-balls. Also, almost every kill with a sniper rifle earns you a nice big gob of points.

Yeah I'm starting to like Locker because it turns out one team can't actually cover all possible approaches. As long as you immediately step back and flank around whenever you see a corridor blocked it's pretty drat fluid in terms of map control.

Oh DICE... The only thing I noticed from the new metro map is that it now has those big green containers scattered around: Sure you'll find lots of those in France, the only problem is they are for glass waste. The hook on top of it is used to lift them so they can be emptied from the bottom. Yep, it makes absolutely zero sense to find that stuff in a metro station. In a cramped corridor of all places. I know this sounds very :sperg: but they stick out like a sore thumb. Next time pay attention to details DICE.

Zaphod42 posted:Should be the bottom option on the customization menu. The problem is they don't even keep it going from the same driver on switch. They weren't switching to a different pilot mid-flight to get a new set of flares. That'd be almost interesting because it requires a lot of coordination. It was the same pilot switching seats for a split second and then back into the pilot seat.

So how do shotguns work with respect to accuracy and stuff? Do they always shoot the 10? 12? pellets randomly in a pre-defined cone, or does that cone get bigger or smaller depending on your movement / ADS etc.? Does the cone become off center when moving or due to recoil? Do shotguns vary in these stats? Do pump shotguns have a tighter cone?
