Multiplayer is very underrated and its a shame it barely cracks over 1000 people playing. I dont know why people are saying Killzone 2 had better multiplayer. The gunplay and movement feel way better. Everything seems really balanced and the maps are good as well. It would be nice if you just made the spreadsheet public. I dont think anyone minds psn usernames being listed.

I think it's partly because there's a new console ad ~5 big name titles out at the same time, so people are splitting their time between games, and playing through SP parts. Hopefully it will pick up soon!

On too many platforms. I hope the Euro launch (almost Wednesday in the CET zone) brings enough players, and Ghosts doesn't become the most sold and played title again.

This can be something we can work on during goon games. We'll make sure that when we see an ammo box, we use it. I noticed the same thing though, Pubbies don't notice/care about the ammo boxes that you place down.

Jimbot

The trouble with ammo boxes in these kind of shooters is that you die so fast that ammo doesn't really factor into things. It's very fast paced and isn't really like Battlefield where you have to take the time to run to places and play very carefully. I constantly run and gun my way to victory and if I get killed it's no big deal. I think they should roll ammo box into the assault's shield but drop the healing stuff. I think it would make more sense.

Edit: And for the record, I haven't played Killzone since the day I beat it mainly because it's launch and wanted to play my other titles (save BF4 which I'm going to wait until it gets fixed), which is why I push for a goon night so I know when everyone else is playing and can play with.

Since I forgot some fine forum-goers can't send PMs, here's the link to the "find a time for Goon Killzone Night" spreadsheet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApgoTnajm3jEdDFzeW1NM2ZocVJNckswNW13VlFyRGc&usp=sharing

There's a tab for each day, so plop your name in, put a 0 (or leave blank) when you can't play, and put a 1 under the times that work for you. I will then attempt to use basic math and determine which day(s) and time(s) work the bestest for the most people.

One thing about this game that always pushes me back towards CoD is that spawn camping is so much more rampant in KZ.

You get lovely spawns in CoD, sure, but with set spawns and the spawn beacon in KZ, it seems REALLY easy for the other team to create really terrible choke points that only serve to infuriate the other team.

Yeah but... ammo boxes refill your grenades :unsmigghh:

Also while it's unlikely that you survive with a super red screen, it does also instantly heal you to full when you bend over to pick it up.

Hey, a really badly shot Q&A!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYlslCn60Q4

I watched it, so you don't have to:

  • December 28th and 29th will be a Free Multiplayer Weekend for anyone who doesn't have the game.
  • Voice chat not being in the game was a "judgment call" originally to just be able to talk with your group, but the community has pointed out it "makes teamplay difficult", so they're "looking into" putting voice chat in.
  • They're going to implement customizable "battle chatter", to hear yourself and your allies talking. That was in response to someone asking about in-game announcers, so they were saying they wanted to see how this battle chatter sounded before putting in an announcer.
  • Clan support is being brought out in stages, with a basic implementation first and then expanding it as they go. "Early next year" is the timeframe given.
  • They're going to put in named ranks based on the number of challenges you've done, instead of just having a number next to your name.
  • Some idiot asked if there were going to be "double XP weekends", which is hilarious.
  • There will be more details about what form, precisely, DLC will take in "three to four weeks". They did reiterate that all new maps will be free.
  • They're looking into making the ammo boxes more obvious, including the "player chatter" calling out their placement.

I'm kind of surprised they aren't fixed emplacements on the map like in 2. The only ammo box I have ever seen in 4 is the one I saw the other, well coordinated team drop behind a set of shields tonight.

Got this with my PS4 last night and I've been playing both campaign and multiplayer. I'm on like chapter 3 in the campaign and the checkpoint system is loving maddening. Definitely one of the worst I've encountered in recent memory. Multiplayer, however, is really fun. I was playing with a buddy who also just got the game earlier today and we had a blast using party chat and discovering new features about the game and the system while shooting dudes.

I actually thought the checkpoint system was really lenient. I have been playing it through on hard mode with little to no drama.

I got stuck playing War Thunder and not Killzone MP. Loved the weight and feel, it's meaty, just poorly balanced.

I've been playing TDM most of this weekend with a bit of warzone. Almost all support, I did try scout but it gets a bit boring. However a couple maps where scout seems to work well are park and remains. Actually the remains tends to give me a lot of trouble in general.

Anyway I think it's pretty fun, even if I suck (0.47 K/D ratio).

It crashes pretty often (BF4) even with the new patch, but it's much better than before. I prefer Killzone MP, but tBF and CoD are the heavy hitters of FPS games. When you fire up your PS4, look for parties named 'Helghoons' or killzone. Join them! If you start playing and nobody else is online, start a party named 'Helghoons'.

I played for many an hour yesterday, with goons joining into my party throughout the night. I'll be on again tonight around 8pm EST until the wee hours.

I'm not feeling the game in singleplayer or multiplayer, but it is a solid fine game with respectable work put into it that GG should be commended for. I prefer it over BF4s SP because it's not insultingly stupid, but MP-wise I think I've mentally had it with first person shooters.

Gonna wrap up the SP soon, then spend a fever-free day in multi and see if I can get that spark I got from War Thunder PS4 or even APB Reloaded and Dust514 when matchups were fair and balanced. The only other game I feel the same for in MP as this is Hawken, which is a fine game with no major problems, just that I cannot feel what I'm doing, even if I jump in and top the boards and vary my play.

A side affect of buying like five launch titles, coupled with the fact that I am truly enjoying Battlefield 4, means I have neglected Killzone for quite a while.

Anyway, I just gave multiplayer another go and finally got comfortable with the controls and it is quite fun! I am rather enjoying it.

It's really loving awful. Some maps only have 2 or 3 exits from base, all facing the same direction and it's poo poo easy to just stand there and gently caress up people as they come out. Compound this with dumb loving pubbies who refuse to drop spawn beacons and it can be an exercise in frustration.

I like the MP and all, but that's about as rage-inducing as it gets.

Finally got some quality time in with the campaign this weekend, and I'm almost finished. Overall I'm enjoying it - certainly not the 'hot garbage' others had described it as, but that said I agree it doesn't really do anything special or memorable as far as shooter campaigns go. It also helps that I'm playing after the 1.05 patch, as the skydiving and container escort portions weren't painful at all. The part that did drive me crazy was that stupid free fall portion in chapter 7 - it probably took me 8 or 9 tries before I realized you're supposed to aim for that little rocket trail at the bottom (that eventually deploys into a cushion - why they didn't have the cushion pop out way earlier boggles my mind).

One other thing that's a little annoying - the game seems to love ending chapters with massive firefights that always go on at least one wave longer than they should.
