So just started playing this with a friend and we're fairly lost strategy wise. I mean it seems like you may be able to keep the cops from showing up for a good while if you know what you're doing but we pretty much get spotted immediately and then play the rest of the mission under constant fire. Is this pretty normal or can we stealth through a bit better.

Is this pretty normal or can we stealth through a bit better. Depends on the mission. Being able to stealth missions 100% is largely down to player knowledge, skills (and a equipment to a certain extent). Right at the start of the game it is going to be very hard if not impossible for 2 players to stealth the bank as you need skills to be able to tie more people up, answer more pagers etc. Early on just aim for getting as far as you can, but expect it to go loud. Aim for getting a bit further each time, earn some money, get some more skills. Don't try to attempt missions on the hard or above difficulties right away, as the difficulty scaling in this game (for the combat anyway) is not a cakewalk

The Jewelry Store and Ukrainian Job heists (same map, in actuality, just with slightly different goals, and one or two minor differences) are a microcosm of the game's mechanics. Start there if you want to get used to the stealth system. Another important tip: When you do get caught and go loud, try and ignore first responders rather than returning fire and killing them all. The cops respond to your aggression to an extent; killing blue shirts (and/or civvies) will get SWAT on your rear end very, very quickly. Realistically though, the game is built more for shoot mans than sneak mans. You're not expected to stealth every single heist, and some maps can't be stealthed at all. But we have a think-tank of experts here, so if you have any questions about the stealth system, expect to get answers in triplicate. I've stealthed every part of the game it's possible to stealth many times, since my usual group and I apparently hate ourselves. The thing about the first responders is good advice, you can carve some good time off the bank vault drill before the first assault if you leave 'em to it outside and just pop anyone who actively comes in for your hostages.

There are usually a few goons on that are willing to show you the ropes and get you guys killin' cops (or sneaking past them) like professionals. Just do 2 or 3 Pro Overkill Firestarters to get a quick 30 or 40 levels instantly

Stealthing four stores is honestly really easy with a single ECM, so you don't really have to spam it. It's literally walk into convenience store, put self in corner between ATM and shelves, mask up, apply ECM to ATM, collect cash, wait for van. Mallcrashers - yeah, that's tricky to stealth, and honestly seems silly when the objective is to break the poo poo out of the mall.

Four Stores isn't hard to do full stealth, if you get the ATM inside the convenience store and have a decent Ghost. Just pop it open with an ECM when nobody is looking, wait for the van to arrive and get out there. You won't make a lot of cash for it, but it's pretty straight forward.

It will probably still not be as good as a modded CAR-4. Yessssssss @ the select fire mod, though. I'm hoping the semi that goes full auto is the M308. e; I like how overkill have realised their drop system is loving terrible, so they're just handing out the select fire mods to everyone. Considering how decently priced the Armored Truck DLC was, hopefully this will come in around $4-5. Though I suppose it depends on what's hiding inside those other two boxes...

I think they've been cutting down on the number of weapon mods new weapons get in order to not flood the drop system (and effectively lock you out of mods for your paid weapons) and also to balance guns more carefully.

John Murdoch posted:I meant actual full stealth, completely cleaning out the place and not the cheesy ATM method. :p Without killing everybody full stealth is going to be hard, you have to ECM almost from the get-go so that the security guards don't call it in, you have to have people on the street making sure civilians don't run off and call the cops out of bounds, and you have to deal with cameras. It's doable but its a massive pain in the rear end for what amounts to barely a 60 grand payout at most.

Apparently the drum mags are already in the game and have been for a while (the Payday 2 wiki has a screenshot of what one looks like on the CAR-4). The SCAR-H might actually be worthwhile on semi-auto with all the damage mods, in the hands of a Tech. Might make a nice alternative to the M14.

They'd best let me have a drum mag for my M308, and then let me make it full auto. I can't think of a balance reason why they shouldn't. (This would be hilarious but never happen)

Acquire Currency! posted:Drum mag+fully modded car4 = Why the CAR-4? The 553 does better damage fully modded, and only loses a bit of accuracy. Bigger total capacity. I hope if they actually do drum mags they let you increase the ammo accordingly. The Swedish K is useless with the extended magazine. You get more shots with the first mag, but the second is only about half full.

So I counted the variation of mods that were shown. The Eagle Barrel: 1 mod Stock: 1 mod Grip: 1 mod Foregrip: 1 mod Probably going to have 45~48 damage without Barrel Extender mods, so about 53~58 with Fire breather. Accuracy will probably sit at around 15, although you'll be able to get it up to over 20 with Ghost skill. Stability will probably sit around 20. I think it can be a middle ground between AK.762 and M308. More ammo than M308, and more damage than AK.762. SpecOps Barrel/Barrel ext: Not sure if it's getting its own silencer or not. Magazine: 1 mod Could be an alternative to Swedish K. Signature .40 Slide: 2 mods Grip: 1 mod Mag: 1 mod Probably very similar to Crosskill, except higher stability.

Okay, I really can't think what to spend my last three skill points on. Does anyone have any suggestions? http://www.pd2skills.info/#/profile/lemoncurdistan/ It's a toss-up between acing Shinobi for stealth, or acing SMG Specialist because why not (I use a Para as my secondary most of the time), acing Combat Engineer just for the sake of it (it's not like sensor mode is particularly useful), or putting one point in Stun Resistance and then, I don't know, a point in Pumping Iron and Martial Arts?
