He is clearly supposed to be scary in the first season, and I think most people would agree that he is. But of course everyone has their own idea of what is scary, especially since the horror genre is just slowly starting to get away from tortureporn.

A forest walking entry is more tolerable when there's another entry right after it, rather than getting all excited for the new episode only to experience Unfunny Nature Break. We write it the way we do because we are more concerned with how it will come out as a complete product. Also, part of the reason you have those entire episode with woods-walking episodes and "nothing happens" in the whole thing is because that content was going to be on the channel one way or the other and we felt it was better to put it out there as a standalone episode than upload a 25 minute entry when something SpOoOoOoOoOoKy happens. Think of it as the trash leading up to a raid encounter or whatever video game pacing mechanism you want. No one is ever going to be 100% happy with what we put out and that's fine. Some people wish there were more jump scares. Some people wish it had more puzzles. Some people wish it had no puzzles. Some people want us to hold their hands through every question they might have and others don't want anything answered whatsoever. I'm not saying fan input isn't important to us, it is. However, when you are making a series like this that kind of exploded out of no where you have to filter a lot of white noise and, at the end of the day, just stick to your guns and make it as best you can since hopefully people like that and that's why it got a following in the first place. As for freeing up time for a personal life, there is absolutely nothing wrong with our priorities and there is no argument that can be made to change my mind on the matter.

Maybe this whole thing will finish up and I'll eat my words but at this point as someone who has spent a lot of time in the story and bought the first DVD (but skipped the rest) I think it's meandering and hasn't held my interest. That's no knock on the guys. It's certainly better than I would have done but that doesn't mean it's above criticism. I may not have put much cash into the whole thing beside the season one DVD but I don't think it's right to say "it's free so your opinion doesn't matter".
