I have to admit, I love the image of all the participants in Sochi (especially in ice skating) being stereotypical stone-faced Russian military.

For anyone who doesn't know the full story, Sherman batted down a pass that was intended for Michael Crabtree, resulting in an interception that won the NFC championship. Sherman then went up to Crabtree saying "hell of a game, hell of a game" and tried to shake his hand. In response Crabtree shoved Sherman in his facemask. Sherman then made a "choking" gesture as he passed 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and gave the now-infamous interview.

So Obama, having beaten his opponents fair and square, is faced with petty tantrums from bad losers. While his in-your-face attitude may seem aggressive, it's perfectly understandable given what he's had to deal with. AGC.

To be fair, Sherman has had a lengthy public feud with Crabtree since long before this playoff game, he was more or less provoking a reaction with that handshake. That said, yes, the story was tremendously overblown.

This argument also never ceases to infuriate me.

Yes, legislation in a modern, complex society will often by necessity be written in a long exhaustive fashion, using a lot of technical terms, especially one concerning such a massive area as healthcare and insurance. This is good, because laws should be written so that they can't be exploited for loopholes, and so they be applied fairly and equally and be understood the same way by people all across a country and across years, decades or centuries.

Also important: The act itself is only about 900 pages long, which would make it about the size of a dictionary. (But far easier to read - bills are written in a big font with lots of spacing, to make things easier for our more hard-of-sight Congressmen.) The "gigantic stack of paperwork" that cartoonists like to reference includes not just the ACA but all the new regulations that the government's many departments had to draft in response to the Act.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, Amerigoons, but don't you have some sort of appointed judicial body dedicated to figuring out how the rather vague and abstract statements of your founding documents get applied in reality. I must be mistaken, because id that were true, Bok would be treating the constitution like some meaningless fetish to worship at, but no good rational conservative would ever do something like that.
