Good. Shameless and Banshee deserve it. Good episode. Very Serious. Nice to see Lip's doing better in school. Fiona's prison scene was good. I figured her boss or his brother would bail her out. Laughed at the fat kid watching porn. Wonder what's going to come out of the family meeting Deb's boyfriend.

Enjoying this episode a bunch so far. Love Lip being the grown up and calling Fiona on her bullshit, love Mickey through the whole thing, Kevin with his gun, and Debs cutting herself and realizing how much it hurt/how dumb that is was great.

Edit: And now Carl being 82% retarded hahahaha

I'm loving the screentime that he's getting this season. He's a really fantastic actor and watching his character transform from the fuckhead he started out as to actually starting to come to terms with his feelings for Ian is really awesome. Seeing Carl become more of a character is great, too. I'm loving this season.

I'm assuming that Carl's last scene was him selling the "evidence" from Frank's room to some other kid?

I'm seconding (thirding?) all the love for Mickey this season. His character development has been amazing and I am really interested in where they decide to take his character. Quick question though, what's the reason behind Ian's lack of screen time? Schedule conflict?

Yeah, I think I heard somewhere that Cameron Monaghan was filming The Giver while most of this season was being shot.

Ahh okay thanks. When the season started I was a little bit bummed with the lack of Ian but the season is for sure growing on me.

Huh? He took the short bus. It was showing he fit in more with the "special needs" kids. Or was at least more accepted. That was his lunch bag.

That was pretty intense, huh?

This season really picked up the last couple episodes. So good and last night was another solid viewing. Lip calling Fiona out on her poo poo was heavy as hell; I've had heated debates with my siblings and cousins that were pretty similar, so that part really hit close to home. The focus on family looking out for each other this season has been pretty moving, have to say. Good poo poo, glad it got renewed.

BreakAtmo

loving great episode. Every actor and every plot was riveting. You guys are all correct, Noel Fisher is great. Macy is nailing Frank's selfishness and denial, Emily Bergl makes Sammi understandable even as she makes so many stupid decisions, Jeremy Allen White is tearing into Lip's excellent material, and Emmy Rossum is Emmy loving Rossum.

I was also interested to see Nichole Bloom get more face time in that scene after spending the season as generic roommate's-bitchy-girlfriend - she and Lip seemed to actually connect, and I'm interested to see where that goes.

I think as the guardian she still gets hosed even if not on the possession charge. The judge said when granting her guardianship she basically had 0 room for huge fuckups like the baby eating a half a gram of coke.
There's also the possibility they tested her for coke maybe?

Krowley
Feb 15, 2008

She also explicitly said it was her coke, which actually technically wasn't even true.

Of course, she was drunk and high on coke at the time but that excuse wouldn't have made any difference for obvious reasons.

Still don't know why she wouldn't snitch on Mike's brother.

Loved this episode though.

God, that awful look on her face as she realized that probation and being a felon for life wasn't gonna be a walk in the park. No way she's going 3 years/seasons without something out of her control fucks up her life.

I have a bad feeling that the previous episode demonstrated that her boyfriend is a stand-up guy (when he delivered Lip's work at the hospital and was generally cool) just so we can see Lip mess it all up by them ending up loving somehow.

Lip, Mickey, Kev, and Carl have all been especially amazing in the past few episodes. Ian appears more hosed up than Frank is which quite a feat, I'm guessing that maybe finally next week he might be somewhat coherent and we get to find out what the gently caress is going on with him exactly.

Anyone know the exact episode count for this season?

"Fuckin' hole standers"

The name of the episode was also "A Jailbird, Invalid, Martyr, Cutter, Retard and Parasitic Twin"

We already know. He got the poo poo beaten out of him. Then his boyfriend was forced to marry a Russian prostitute and also beat the poo poo out of him. Then he joined the army, essentially his lifelong dream or at least the past few years, with his brother's identity and hosed that up somehow so he's wanted by the army for fraud/awol/theft/who knows.

His life fell apart and he turned to drugs, and started working as a bartender/dancer/whore to get more drugs.

I don't know about the drug angle being the only possible explanation. Based on scenes from next episode he spouts a very Monica-esque speech about non-conformity and doing what he wants instead of what's expected, I'm all but certain they're going the Ian has bipolar route.

Yeah I still think that is a better explanation. His dissociation last episode was really unnerving, having "he's just doing lots of drugs because some bad poo poo happened" would be a really lazy explanation for his issues. Mickey playing bad detective with his badge was amazing...they've done such a great job with him this season, his character was completely insufferable for the longest time.

You know, there was something I was thinking about regarding Fiona's probation. Do you think they're going to cop-out with timeskips? Because it would be really awesome and ballsy for them to go the whole nine yards with it and actually have Fiona be on probation for the next 3 years or so. Like, maybe have her probation ending be the main plot of the Season 7 finale or Season 8 premiere, and until then have it be a main element of the show that serves both Fiona's character and the plot in the form of certain obstacles (but don't constantly bang the same drum over and over).

To be fair "flicking" a revolver is actually really bad for it and will throw the timing on the cylinder off. But when has Shameless been "realistic" on things like that.

I really liked the non verbal scene with Mickey and his wife with Ian on the bed. The scenes with Fiona being shuffled through the system is a sad/nice reality. You are alone and nobody gives two fucks about your issues at home there.

That makes the joke even better because Kev clearly didn't know what he was doing as evidenced by the way he handled the gun and the fact that he is apparently the only non-gun owner in the area.

The implications in my post were that he was like a teenager with a brand new toy, not that he's cool because he knows how to properly maintain and use firearms. Perhaps, you could say that Shameless WAS being realistic, in that that's exactly how someone who doesn't know how to use a gun would behave if they all of a sudden felt powerful and dangerous with a new toy.

And I'm not sure I understood the unspoken reference between Mickey and his wife. Was she sad because she knew she'd never have that sort of love feeling directed at her? Was she realizing that she was cast aside-able or something?

No no, I'm talking about how at the end of S2 she had broken up with Marco, was at the Gallaghers, saved Ian from Frank (expressing her anger about being abused by Marco), and last we saw her, she was spooning with Lip on the couch, clearly setting things up for next season.

Then S3 comes around, she's back with Marco, she never sees the Gallaghers (including Lip) ever again, and we never find out what happened between seasons. It was like they were setting something up for her that got completely jettisoned.
