So, before I update, I tested the waters to see what would happen come Dec. 1st if nobody signed. Reading the text, I was incorrect in my description. (I always skip through it, so I never actually read it)

"Any player who received a qualifying offer from their team (RFA), but did not come to terms are prohibited from joining a NHL franchise until July 1st next year (2021).
These players remain the property to their last team, but may not be used on the roster, and do not contribute to the team's salary cap.
The teams must choose to re-qualify these players in the Re-Sign phase next year, or they will become UFA."

So, if O'Rourke and Dangler don't sign by Dec 1st, they effectively hosed off to Russia for the season.

Starting this next offseason, any players whose contract expires will become an unrestricted free agent. I don't know what Danger and O'Rourke would be classified as, since they would have only played 6 seasons, where everyone else has played 7 seasons (the length to no longer be classified a RFA), perhaps they would still be restricted, since they would not be 27 yet.

UFA is 7 seasons OR 27. A player who signs and starts playing at 18 can be UFA by 25

I looked for players with expiring contracts, and they will be UFA. The contracts screen won't show me Dangler or O'Rourke's status because of how the game is coded, they are still showing as RFA (Qualified Offer) for 2020-21, and having no status for 2021-22.

Since they would only have played 6 years compared to everyone else's 7 years (through 2020-21) I think they would stay RFA until they play 1 more season, or they hit 27. Right?

They can become a different class of UFA if they're unsigned as an RFA and a team lets the right expire. This includes if they're extended a qualifying offer they don't sign
