So has everyone outleveled Moria yet? I finally have Nindurred to Moria and I was excited as gently caress about potentially doing the instances on-level but it sounds like I'm about a week or two late and a dollar short. :smith:

I've got a level 60 hunter. Pretty much 55 to 65 is more or less the range you want. I'm gonna be taking a short hiatus but if it's for group play I'd be happy to log on during the weekend if not evenings.

I'm holding out for an Ent class... would take forever to level up.

This made me laugh. Make the Ent race with only one class and they can't get a mount or use any travel skills, and they walk at like 25% normal speed. It would be gimmicky but hilarious, and I'm sure would result in tons of nerd rage.

They should totally do this once the game is retired to maintenance mode. Aren't they already going to have us playing an Ent in a session play that's in update 13?

I'm often unable to commit to an instance, but I'll have someone locked at 62 for the foreseeable future. Right now that someone is Agaranth (guard) until I get Nerdwulf (captain) there. So if you're ever putting something together I might be able to jump in.

That would be really fun. I know there's some level 50 unscalable instances, I don't remember where, Moria is comfortable up to 63 or so and Dungeons of Lothlorien are 60-67 or so.

After that they're all scalable. What level would we be looking for us to run? I'd be happy to participate for this, despite my crazy European moon times. While it wouldn't be impossible to get 24 people active at once (I think) I doubt we all have nearby leveled characters, enough for the lower leveled guys to enjoy the game outside of not dying.

I tried unsuccessfully to get goon runs going like 3 years ago when the game's population was a lot higher than it is now. I can only imagine it'd be drat near impossible to get anything beyond a 6-man going on Silverlode these days.

We've had some 12 mans going the past month or two...but it's rare because there is no consistent time people can agree on..

I would highly suggest popping in at primetime (between 6-8pm cst) just to see who is on and willing to run things. I try to get on as much as I can to at least check in and see if something is going on. Don't forget there is also the steam group, if more people stayed online we could send out event notices that popup in the corner of your screens.

3 years ago is when we were raiding this game's content on level so thats not quite so true. We did all the angmar stuff and all the moria stuff.

This was on my own trying to get people organized, but like half the people that committed to showing up never did. I tried at least 3 separate times then gave up. The old serious business raiding crew may have got some stuff going but I chose to not be a part of that group anymore after 2009 or so.

Yeah this game especially nazgun never really had more then 15-20 people that did the end game content as far as i'm aware on level anyways and even then we had a few pubbies to fill the ranks.

I think the most likely class is going to be a ranger of some sort. Where the hunter is more in line with the idea of an elvish bowman, the ranger will be more in line with the Dunedain or what have you. They are certainly mentioned in the lore, and more importantly Turbine can make some money off of selling the class in the store; a class that a bunch of people have been clamoring for for a while.

My Champ's almost to 65 which can still run Moria stuff and die in a single shot because when Moria came out level 60 heavy armor classes had 6-10k morale whereas now they tend to have about 3-4k unless specifically gearing to tank. Then they might have 7k morale. :v:

I usually hope on for a bit in the evenings (EST) and would run content on my champ, or captain when a 95's needed to bulldoze something. Evenings on the last handful of weekends we've had a dozen or so people on, including this last Friday/Saturday where we ran a couple Moria instances on level. We could've run 11-12 people this last Sunday (I think) as well but people were kinda doing their own things, though even running lower level new people through watcher and turtle doesn't hurt since it means when they do hit 60 they have the tokens for a pair of 1st age LIs.

Started seriously doing the Chicken Plays. All I have left is North Downs, Lonelands, and Trollshaws before the 8 hour marathon. They're pretty easy if you stick to safe roads or a river (for Evendim) just take a bit of time. Except for Trollshaws. On my first attempt I got stealthed by a lynx on the High Pass probably no more than 200 meters from the entrance to Rivendell. On the plus side the horrible tension crossing the High Pass is really fun. There's a very real sense of danger. The trouble is the 35+ minutes it takes to get there.

I just changed houses since I wanted to see how the elf floorplan works out, and I'm happy to report that contrary to popular opinion you do NOT have to repurchase housing chest storage.

In addition, all my decorations that would've had to be ported from escrow before were in the new house's chest. They work it like they did when they took away our accidental gift of wardrobe space. Chest is overfilled at 113/60, nothing new goes in till it's < 60.

Just stick to roads and you can make it. For Evendim swim up the Brandywine and through the lake. You can speed it up by walking on the shore but there will be enemies. The last bit of Bree where you need to go past the Far Chetwood can be a bit trying but there's ample space to run between enemies. When you get to Kingsfell in the North Downs use Paranoia to spot invisible spiders, stop moving when the buff runs out. Do the same after the fords of Tal Bruinen in the Trollshaws. I only died twice trying it. Once in Evendim because I fell off a cliff accidentally while trying the Overland route, and once in the High Pass right before Rivendell by a stealthed lynx. Paranoia will save your life.

That being said it those stressful moments, like High Pass etc., are really really fun if only because there's so much danger. The rest of it is a nice scenic dash along the roads of Eriador.

I'd love to plan to do the 8 hour session with you two even if it means doing an all nighter. If anyone else in the kin hasn't done it or wants to we should try organizing a whole massive chicken run.

Made it through bree and ered luin last night and got killed by a stealth mob on the evendim run. I'll take the water path next time. I was hoping to avoid having to use paranoia so much that I simply wouldn't move when it was down, but maybe it's necessary.

The 8 hour play would be great as a team, though I doubt we'll be there until next weekend. Maybe we could even grab a few escorts.

Very possible, though everything I found on the forums back when I was looking for something definitive was muddled on that point.

Something else they seem to have changed is, you do NOT get your excess upkeep refunded anymore when you abandon a house.

The update on April 14th sounds like it's going to bring a lot of long overdue improvements. Apparently the Misty Mountains revamp ended up making it in this update after all, along with North Downs and Lone Lands. Probably the most interesting thing to me is the game's first ever non-Loremaster pets, the mini Huorn you can earn by doing a bunch of poo poo in Fangorn (there's a new rep there I guess). They've said this is basically a test to see how the engine/servers handle lots more characters running around with pets, and if it goes well they'll start releasing more. It's tough to imagine what else they can do inside of the lore, however it kinda seems like having a mini Huorn following you around is pretty lore-bending, if not breaking, already.

edit: there's supposed to be a new producer's letter next month as well, apparently laying out the timeline for the rest of the year and into 2015.
