Yeah? From 2010 on their drafting has been quite good.

2006-2009 was loving dreadful though, yeah.

That's the narrative in the media as long as Billy B. is there and they're winning. He's still riding the draft guru reputation because of the 6th round Tom Brady pick despite being pretty lovely at evaluating QBs. They are actually pretty bad at drafting in general and field some shallow teams when it comes to depth.

Honestly I think general reputation for drafting tends to end up being 4-5 years out of date due to how long classes take to develop.

But yeah, the Patriots were quite good in the front half of the 2000's, really, really bad over the 2nd half, and pretty good from 2010 on.

Yeah, that's why people start cringing when people lay down the "You're not going to succeed without a QB!" draft approach.

They're kinda right, but you're also not gonna succeed if you're drafting Jimmy Clausen

Honestly the one constant draft strategy I subscribe to besides "draft a franchise QB" is draft by BPA.

I'm not accusing him of anything but MattW (Quest for Glory [SA names are stupid compared to IRC shorthand names]) legitimately thought Lefevour would be a great NFL QB. We all have those prospects that we irrationally think highly of though.

I think he has to go to a FCS school for at least a year a la Janoris Jenkins, but gently caress if I know how the eligibility stuff actually works. I do know he's not eligible for the supplemental draft this year, because he was a true sophomore.

He would actually go to a Div 2 school because FCS is still considered Division 1. Also, since he was cut from the team, I am not entirely sure if the transfer rules apply since he has been released of his scholarship.
