Clearly there are successful 1st round DT picks just like with any other position, but they end up fat and lazy busts way too often for it to be a comfortable pick.

I'll be pretty upset if Ted takes a tackle tonight.

Pretty sure DT is statistically one of the safer picks in the early first.

Yeah, I just pulled up a list of the ones drafted in the first from 2000 on, and there's way more hits then misses.

Bunch fall off pretty early into their 2nd contracts, but there's some seriously great players in that list.

And the only two listed officially as nose tackles drafted in the first in the 2000's are Casey Hampton and Vince Wilfork.

To be fair it seemed like there was no room for him, and it did end up moving previous first round pick Quinton Coples to a position he sucks at.

DT in the first round is always a good option. The only thing to be worried about is if the guy has had "motivation" questions and has often been overweight.

Our fifth round pick is gone for Flynn, our sixth for Schaub. We got extra 7ths for Palmer and Pryor. We're starting the man who set the record last season for most consecutive games with a pick six. I think we should just give up.
