Quick question, in the anime does Shinn actually kill the Zamza-Zah pilot, or does someone else stop him, or does his miss or what?

In the anime Shinn slices the Zamza-Zah in half and then single handedly takes down like six warships on his own. That's the reason why there's a party in his honor afterwards; he loving earned it.

Incidentally, that battle was the only time an Anti Ship Sword was actually used on a ship.

I don't think Shinn is in danger of losing his main characterdom, that's probably one of the biggest complaints of Destiny and SRW Z was super intent on making Destiny better. I mean the first thing you do with Kira is blow him up with battleship wave motion cannons (it strikes me as odd that even though the only way to get Kira shot down is to do that repeatedly, his comment on leaving is all 'oh no these unthreatening minions have gotten the better of me'), I don't think Banpresto was in any rush to have him replace Shinn

Plus they go the exact opposite route in Destiny's next appearance in K, where Kira's the protagonist of that from the very beginning and it follows him around while ZAFT serves as rivals until much later on. Being K and all I worry about how that one's probably handled, but it can't be that bad if it's at least consistent. At the very least it handles Stella's thing super awesomely, as far as I know.

I mean in that one Cagalli goes in the Strike Rouge and kicks Festum rear end in both of their first appearances. The very Festum that murder about half of the cast off-handedly in the show they come from, while they're in robots explicitly designed as the only weapons that could possibly counter them, so Destiny has to earn points on that front.

Ask me about being the best dad ever.

Welcome back, folks.
This time, it’s Roger and Loran who are launching as events; we still have seven deployment slots and, as such, Rag actually gets a chance to enter the front lines:
  • Rand, Sara, Bello
  • Jiron, Gavane, Joseph
  • Kei, Maai, Riea
  • Zambot
  • Gainer, Kouji, Maria (TFO)
  • Rag, Dyke, Miashey
  • Gain, Gauli, Adette

On with the plot!

We’re in Gainer’s room and he’s playing an Overman Battle match with Cynthia. They’re both very happy to be able to use the UN to play against each other (the first time since the world got all messed up).
Sadly, her avatar isn’t coming in very clearly so he can’t see her – still, that’s little problem if it means they can play regardless of where they are in the world. She thinks Gainer (whom she calls by his Overman Battle title: “King”) is exaggerating but he swears he isn’t.
He says that, since he’s travelling, he didn’t have a set place to access the game. She asks where he is right now and he says they’re closing in to the Catez Domepolis.
She thinks that’s perfect and asks if “King” would like to go on a date – Gainer, of course, stammers at the question...

Elsewhere, Zakki informs Asuham that a new model of Overman has been sent over and it’s serviced and ready to use.
Kejinan tells Asuham that the OverCoat is also ready to be used and, furthermore, Enge confirms that “those three” have already been sent to infiltrate Catez. Asuham figures it’s all in place: the Overman, Overcoat, the helpers and the Moon Race.
Kejinan asks if everything’ll be okay as those new helpers looked a little…iffy. That may be but they also have HUGE mechs which will help even the playing field (especially against the “Blackman”, whom the new guys seem to have a beef with) – the plan will surely work.

Zakki, inwardly, figures Asuham’s trust in them is due to their shared desire for revenge. Either way, this is all to defeat Gain and stop the Exodus (in that order), so Asuham’s not about to be choosy regarding whose help he accepts.
Jaboli asks for their orders, promising to risk her life to see it done, and Asuham is thankful for the cooperation of such a pretty Siberian flower such as herself.
Kejinan, silently, calls bullshit on that “cooperation” bit because Asuham forced them to be his subordinates and is almost wishing to have Yassaba back. Enge wonders if they should wag their tails at Asuham like Jaboli but Kejinan figures, if he does any more wagging, the proverbial tail’s just going to fall off.

quote:

:eng101: Information Corner – Topic: Overcoat :eng101:
A large garment worn by Overmen: capable of producing various effects, including amplifying existing OverSkills or conferring new ones.
Though thought of as specific to a given Overman, other Overmen may be able to wear a given Overcoat and unlock its hidden OverSkills.

Asuham has noticed them whispering and asks what they’re talking about.
Kejinan reacts quickly and says they’re just eager to help Asuham and Enge realizes that they don’t really have any other option. Asuham tells Gain that he won’t allow him and his cohorts to become heroes of the Exodus movement – he’ll capture him with this new plan and give him a suitable punishment.
Zakki has to wonder if the vengeful Asuham realizes that they're out of second chances if this operation fails.

Back in Yapan’s Ceiling, our group starts talking about the events of mission 19 (Pacific), so we’ll skip past that.

Miashey tells our group that, apparently, Roger failed in his promise to help the refugees get integrated into the Domepolis.
Sochie thinks it is shameful how he made all that posturing and failed to deliver but Jiron argues that it’s not his fault – the situation at Catez is just way more complicated than expected. Indeed, from what Burume has heard, the Moon Race arrived in the area and they’re certainly not your common refugees.
It seems the Moon Race is demanding the people hand over Catez to they can use it as the foothold of their advance into Galia – they’re pretty much threatening to invade the Domepolis, Loran figures. Jiron figures there’s no need to worry as Diana surely wouldn’t let things go that far.

Of course, Rag isn’t so sure remembering that they were desperate enough to try robbing our Market in the past. Loran thinks it’s only a matter of time before the entire Diana Counter turns to banditry and he needs to find a way to switch Kihel and Diana back before that happens.
Sochie tells him not to look so troubled, though, because we have Roger and Gwen currently negotiating with the Moon Race to stop an armed confrontation – if anything, Roger’s determination to see things through is impressive.

Either way, considering we can leave that issue to Roger, Bello figures we should go to Gainer’s place and try our hand at his game.
Kouji has heard that Gainer’s room has an UN connection and is interested in trying out one his famous Overman Battles. Gainer stammers that the net's been acting up lately so he can’t get a match going.
Of course, Maria sees through his story and asks if he doesn’t want them coming to his room. Kouji tells him that no one here, except maybe Sara, has a problem with him living with Adette.
It seems that, despite Gainer’s best efforts, Sara put two and two together over the past few days but she insists that she doesn’t care who Gainer lives with.
Gainer takes this time to quickly say that he has some business today – he runs off, asking them to try again tomorrow. Sochie is surprised at his weird attitude and Bello figures he’s hiding something.

Kouji deduces, from how flustered he got, that it must have something to do with a girl – Maria wonders if he’s a date with someone but Sara says that’s near impossible. Maybe, maybe not, because Chil remembers seeing Gainer entering Kei’s room yesterday.
Bello figures Gainer went to get some advice from the legendary womanizer and Kouji wonders if the kid’s finally going to confess his love.
Sara’s face starts turning red at the thought but she says that it’s because it’s a warm day (there’s a blizzard outside, Jiron points out). Either way, a member of the Gauli squad keeping secrets from one another is unacceptable – she’s going to talk about this with Gauli and correct Gainer’s attitude!

Location: Siberia Domepolis Catez

Milan's heard Roger and Gwen state the people of Catez's case but he refuses the offer, insisting that they want to use the Domepolis as their base.
That said, the people still want to be paid to allow the Moon Race to use their city and the stuff in it but Milan says the value they’re asking is far too much – or is it an Earth costume to extort people?
Roger says this higher price is simply due to them showing up out of the blue and demanding use of the place. Phil is getting annoyed at Roger’s attitude while in the presence of Diana and Gwen, silently, asks if Roger shouldn’t lay off them a bit.
Rather, Roger says he’s deliberately provoking them as a way to discover the other party’s true intentions: for instance, during Roger’s verbal attacks, Milan and Phil got exalted while the queen remained neutral, and Gwen realizes that this probably means the plan to confiscate Catez must be their own, not Diana’s.

Either way, Milan sees no need for further talk and decides to stop the negotiation for now. Roger’s fine with it, as his main intent in coming here today was presenting them with the price offered.
Roger hopes for a more pragmatic discussion with them next time but Milan sees little point if he’s just going to present the same “outrageous” offer again. In that case, Roger says the people of Catez do have a backup plan but it’s not to ask the New Federation for help, as Phil thinks.
Rather, Roger says we have more than enough power to protect ourselves without the help of the army and we’re willing to fight even if there’s no chance of victory.
Furthermore, Roger adds that lawlessness will always yield to the law: even if the Moon Race should win by force and gain a toehold here, the other Earthlings won't stand for it for long - not that Roger believes Diana would wish such a conflict in the first place.

Just then Angel shows up with a list of things the Moon Race would want from the Catez folk and Phil tells her to hand it to Roger.
Roger is quite surprised to see her here and it seems she’s been hired as the Moon Race’s on-site Negotiator. Still, he’s surprised that she also came here from Paradigm City.
She does make it a point to say that she didn’t follow him over but Roger isn’t as conceited to think so in the first place. That said, he asks if she thinks their meeting here is a coincidence.
Her answer is a coy “Hmm, I wonder…”.

We later find Gainer waiting for Cynthia to arrive and, hidden nearby, a bunch of our people are having a laugh at how ridiculous he looks.
Sochie can barely contain her laughter and Maai and Riea need to remind her that they’ll be spotted if she doesn’t keep it down. Gainer isn’t really listening to anything, deep in thought as to what kind of person Cynthia will be: he’s never seen her face but, from talking to her, he has a mental image of a beautiful, smart girl that’s a bit older than him.
Bello asks about the suit and Kei says he lent it to the kid and the hairdo was also part of his sagely advice.

Mel thinks those don’t suit Gainer at all and wonders if Kei’s sabotaging him.
Not at all, Kei says Gainer requested the suit and a new hairdo in a bit to look more like an adult so that’s what he did (Setsuko thinks it’s cute that he’s doing that for his date). Rand is disappointed as he could’ve taught the kid how a grown man works his magic but Maai and Riea think, in his case, it’s less “grown man” and more like “old man” – no respect.

Either way, Kouji thinks Gainer would’ve been fine if he’d kept things simpler but Rand sees no problem: it’s common for teenagers to want to act all grown up and he can even remember those days.
Maai has a hard time picturing a young Rand but Riea is certain he would’ve been some kind of thug – Rand sighs, saying that their jabs are harsh even by his standards. Either way, Maria notices that there’s someone else that doesn’t seem interested in Gainer’s older look.
Sara gets indignant at the insinuation and Kouji needs to remind her to keep it down. She’s not willing to stay anymore, though, as peeking on other people’s dates in a bad habit (she’s the one that suggested it in the first place, mind).
She’s stopped when Miashey spots a girl approaching Gainer.

: Um…are you Cynthia?
: Huh…
: Ah, I knew it. You’re just as I imagined.
: That’s…umm…
: What’s the matter, Laura?
: Ms. Kihel?! And Laura…!
: …It’s me, Gainer…
: L-Loran! You’re dressed as a girl again?! Is this a hobby of yours or something?!

Whoops.

Actually, it’s something of a mission: Kihel wanted to have a look around Catez, so Loran decided to accompany her as a guide.
Gainer gets that but why the cross-dressing? Well, seeing how the Diana Counter is in the area, Loran figured dressing up like this would’ve made him more inconspicuous.
Kihel asks what he’s doing here dressed like that but, upon Gainer’s hesitation, decides it might be for the best if they don’t ask too many questions to each other - not that it matters to Sochie, who’s having the laugh of her life from watching the two boys.
Kei figures the kid is way too inexperienced with girls but Rand has feeling that most guys would easily try to hit on “Laura” (indeed, Toby says he would…). Bello and Kouji, staring intently at Laura, agree and Kei needs to remind them to get their heads on straight.
Rand quips that Mel could learn some femininity from Loran and she angrily says she won’t even dignify that with a response. Their attention, however, is shifted as Rand spots some sort of commotion nearby.

The civvies are panicking over having their bikes and cars stolen and T-Bone is quickly to yell that it MUST be the Moon Race’s doing!
Of course it is, as T-Bone has heard they have mysterious thievery powers and Dav says they’re obviously impoverished after being kicked from America so they decided to start stealing over here!
Loran’s Moon Race friend, Keith, tries to ask what the hell they’re talking about but T-Bone quickly tells him to zip it. Geraba is the last of the rabble-rousers cries out at how underhanded by Moon Race is – if they, the people, leave things like this, Catez will surely get all sorts of messed up!

The people start buying the story, taking the Moon Race as a group that spreads conflict and chaos that must be kicked out of Catez!
Despite Keith’s appeals, everything is going as planned for Geraba and the others and, once the Moon Race and Catez start fighting each other, it’ll quickly drag Yapan’s Ceiling and “crow-boy” into the mess – that’s when they’ll begin their own attack.
Keith stops their whispering as he gets in their face, asking what the hell they’re up to badmouthing the Moon Race like that. Who is he? The Baker!

T-Bone is about to make him pay for making a fuss when Kihel steps in to stop them.
She asks if they’re trying to start a battle between the Moon Race and the Domepolis – Dav quickly bends under Diana’s commanding aura and confesses, much to Geraba’s annoyance. He moves to silence Diana but Laura intervenes, saying he won’t allow him to lay a single finger on her.
“Another cutie came over!”, T-Bone yells and Geraba decides to deal with the women later. What he wants is to beat up the closest man and that happens to be Gainer.
He commands the “nancy-boy” to die but a strange knife flies over and hits near him!
“…That’s an eight-bladed shuriken…The next one will shred your throat…!" a mysterious man says.

Who is it? Gauli, THE NINJA! :ninja:
Turns out he’s been shadowing Gainer but he’s willing to reveal himself since the Exodus can’t afford to lose him – he’ll use all his techniques to keep him safe. Gainer inwardly realizes that Gauli’s REALLY fascinated with Yapanese stuff.
T-Bone isn’t impressed as he has a bullet with Gauli’s name on it but, as soon as he shoots, Gauli easily parries the shot with his Hanzo Steel. He prepares to follow it up with his “Flame Wheel” technique and Dav is smart enough to know that they can’t take him on.
Geraba calls for retreat as their mission is already complete – the rest is up to Asuham.

Loran is relieved that they’ve been saved but Keith comes over and recognizes him as having also been driven out of Inglessa (Loran can’t explain the clothes to him at the moment, mind). Gainer thanks him for the assist and Gauli says he has a debt to repay Gainer.
Sochie arrives with the others and, thanks to Gauli, everyone seems okay. However, between Gauli, Gainer and Loran, Rand has to ask if they’re having a dress-up party around here.
This works for Mel, who whips out her camera and snaps a few shots for posterity!

Mission 19 (Galia Route) – National Blizzard

We cut to the Soreil, right outside Catez, where it seems some of their own stuff has gone missing too. The ship’s captain tells Phil that these events have been happening across all divisions of their army since yesterday.
Phil is already blaming the Catez folk, figuring they’re not satisfied with just gouging the Moon Race and have decided to steal their things. Things get worse when Poe comes in bringing news that a large posse of Catez dwellers have suddenly started a riot against them.
Milan figures they’ll soon try to rush the Soreil and Phil has had enough – he orders all troops to launch and attack in self-defense while also ordering Harry to protect the ship.

Roger isn’t happy when he sees the DC troops, figuring Phil has decided to pull a preemptive strike.
Dorothy figures this is another failed negotiation but Roger disagrees: his contract was to find a way to avoid a direct confrontation between the Moon Race and the Catez folk, so he hasn’t failed just yet.
Norman says the arrangements are complete and, as Roger sets out, he tells Norman and Dorothy to smoke out the rats behind this incident. Poe orders the troops to keep the damage to the Dome to the minimum, since that’s where they’ll be setting camp next.
Inwardly, Harry asks Diana if she’ll tolerate these actions – maybe she’s consenting if, as the queen, she considers this to be advantageous to her people?
The troops halt for a moment when a soldier spots someone in front of the Dome.

Indeed, it’s Roger and Big O, which immediately intimidates Poe with its massive size.
Roger gets in touch and tells them that negotiations are still ongoing so use of military force is unacceptable - he requests them to retreat quietly. Poe isn’t having it, asking how he dares say that after what the Catez people did to them (“impudent thief!”)!
Roger’s laws do not offer leniency to unfair people, though, and he’ll now pass her sentence. Poe orders all troops to attack and destroy him while Harry orders his troops to protect Diana.
“If your intentions are set, then I’ll readily oppose! BIG O, ACTION!” Roger yells.

Mission Objective: Shoot down Poe’s WaDom and Harry’s Gold SUMO
Mission Failure: Any allied unit shot down, Soreil shot down
Skill Point: Clear the victory conditions within 4 turns.

No enemy’s in range during the first turn, so Roger moves ahead.

Enemy Phase!

The closest WaD squad comes over and it’s in our best interest to kill at least ONE during this attack.
This isn’t difficult but, to save on energy, I’ll have Roger just use Arc Line.

: You disappoint me, Moon Race. As the subjects of Her Majesty, I'd expected you to act with logic and intelligence.
: Although I can be sympathetic to your plight, you unilaterally ended the talks. Due to those unfair actions, you force me to take a stand!
: But it shan't be with negotiations – I’ll be with my Big O!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9Bh_Sy5A34
You ain’t getting through here!

Only the mooks move in for now and the Soreil protectors are also staying put.

Player Phase!

Loran soon deploys, telling everyone to stop fighting as the riot from Catez people was incited by someone else.
“Diana” and Harry recognize him but Phil won’t believe it if he cannot present the person responsible. Problem is, Loran doesn’t know who’s exactly behind this action but he’s sure it’s someone who’s trying to stop the Exodus.
Roger understands how provoking the Moon Race to attack would help towards that but, unfortunately, the enemy’s too enraged to be stopped by mere words – we must take away their means to attack first. Seeing how it’s inevitable, Loran also agrees to fight.
Roger's a big fan of black, but he has to admire how well the white of Loran's Gundam suits him. So, why not make it a friendly competition between the two black and white units?
"Kihel" is aboard Loran's mech too and he hopes he can get her to the Soreil. She tells him to concentrate on stopping the fight first.

To make good time on the Skill Point, we need to take out the rest of this squad right now and Roger easily swats another WaD down.

Loran should be able to take care of the rest with his hammer.

: Why won’t they listen to our side of the story?!
: It’s truly sad but such is the state of the Diana Counter…
: Your Majesty…
: Kihel should be at her limits, too. I must switch back with her at all costs.
: Understood, my lady Diana…!

Very nice.

The rest of our team soon arrives, much to Loran’s relief.
Sochie isn’t very happy that Loran just took off with her sister and brought her into the White Doll with him, mind. More importantly to Gain, he ask Gainer what happened to this hot date.
Gainer doesn’t understand how he knows but Kei confesses that he told Gain about it (despite Gainer asking him to keep a secret). Regardless, Sara isn’t about to let him off the hook just because Gauli came over, as him keeping secrets from the rest of the Gauli Squad was his first and biggest infraction.
Kappei yells at everyone to forget about that since the Moon Race’s right in front of us and Gavane agrees: our priority is to stop them and protect Catez. Gwen does remind everyone NOT to attack the Soreil, as Diana is aboard.

A hidden Asuham was expecting us to deploy and he moves to play a little with us: he sneaks over to the Turn A and attacks it.
Loran is confused as to where the hit came from but, more importantly, he soon notices that the Turn A’s weapons and shield are gone! Kei asks if they were stolen during that attack just now but Loran isn’t sure what happened.
Kouji wonders if it could be the same thief that hit Catez and, when Gain asks, Rand explains that some guy went around stealing cars, bikes and a whole lot of other stuff – even people who took their eyes off their things for just one second were robbed.
Gain and Gainer seem to have an idea of what it is but, for now, they need to focus on the enemy in front. Asuham is watching, happily telling Gain to attack the Moon Race in his confusion…

Indeed, killing one enemy squad triggers our reinforcements, which is why it’s important to do so ASAP.
Everyone in the team casts Accel and starts moving over to intercept.

Enemy Phase!

Without his trusty mace, Loran fails to oneshot WaDs when he doesn’t crit. :(
He also gets attacked by a WaDom and takes some damage.

Oh, poo poo. We’ve got a real go-getter over here.

Get wrecked, kid.

Player Phase!

Gain and the King Beal are next and Mimsy yells that they, too, were attacked by an invisible enemy and had their ammo stolen.
Maai and Riea want to know what to do as they can’t go on fighting if their ammo and missiles are getting stolen. Mimsy and Mome are quite pissed that this guy has the gall to steal in front of Emaanians – they’ll hunt him down and make him pay for what he’s taken!
Kei and Gauli don’t know how they’ll do that and things aren’t looking good if we have to deal with the Moon Race and this kind of enemy at the same time. Gain tells everyone to hurry up as, if we don’t stop the Moon Race quick-like, things will only get worse.

Yeah, welcome to the gimmick of this stage: at the start of every player phase, Asuham will choose someone at random and take away all their ammo (thankfully, he can’t do anything against EN tanks).
This isn’t a big problem to our Super Robots but, to our more ammo-reliant real robots, it can leave them in quite a pickle.
Gain can hold his own for now with Brunhilde’s Arm but I might need to send him inside a ship to resupply.

First things first, we’re at turn three and we’re nowhere near getting the Skill Point.
So, Jiron boosts ahead and readies a TRI attack on Poe.

Her two WaD squaddies are dealt with.

Elchi and Kouji start wrecking the WaDom squad that attacked Loran, killing the two WaDs.

Might as well let Rag take it down as it’s unlikely she’ll get in range of the named enemies in time.

Dyke is still catching up on levels…he’s currently at 16 compared to everyone else being around 23-24.

Loran and Roger quickly cut Poe down to size.

This’ll allow Zambot to take the kill and give Kappei some much needed morale.

: You ain’t putting one finger on the Domepolis!
: Aki, Kouzuki and the others are getting help there!

Halfway there! Poe drops another Strategy Manual.

Once again, Poe is left without excuses for her pitiful performance whilst Phil is fighting for the Moon Race.
Without a choice, she retreats…

I reckon this is enough for now.

Expect the next update in a couple of days, whereupon we'll see if we can't put this misunderstanding to rights.

See you all soon!

Got to say, I feel real bad for the moon race: they started as big fish playing the part of glorious crusaders on the verge of finding a new homeland, and instead they've ended up in a shark tank where you have to anticipate the moves of multiple major world powers months in advance (or be able to overcome said moves by punching the moon) just to have a hope in hell of keeping what you already have.

And the moon race is instead being completely played by an idiot. It really does show just how screwed they are.

Well, in their case, being able to anticipate the Federation's moves wouldn't do any good because of the humongous gap between the two groups.

I reckon any of the four original Federal powers could give the Moon Race a run for their money by themselves; as it is, the only option the Moon Race had was to head outside of the Federation's sphere of influence and try to make a living in Galia (which isn't happening with their dwindling resources).

Combine their increasingly desperate state with the narrow vision of their non-Diana leaders and you've got a powder keg that's very easy to ignite.

Speaking of which, it's actually kind of impressive that no one in the moon race has formed a "surrender to the feds" faction: when your leadership is basically divided between trying to steal resources to survive (and failing) or begging for resources to survive (also failing?), becoming a federation red-shirt is actually a fairly decent step up; especially with all the aliens driving a serious need for more warm bodies inside mobile suits.

At least they wouldn't be going hungry while getting shot at, which is 50% better than what they have now. That shows their either really dedicated to their independence, or really bad at basic planning; 'do we need food to eat' levels of bad planning. Or that none of the Feds want them either, which would REALLY suck.

Pretty much. They're vastly outnumbered in pretty much every way, and have no permanent base of operations. Although it is kind of amusing how incredibly powerful Moon Race stuff is compared to, say, UC Federation units. Harry's SUMO has a pair of pistols that pack the same kind of punch as the high-end beam rifles from Zeta did, and the WaDom is packing a Mega Particle Cannon, which is battleship-class weaponry in the UC setting.

Ask me about being the best dad ever.

A quick hit from Kei clears the last WaDom of his squaddies.

While that’s going on, Rand inches forward and repairs the damage Loran took.

Gain, Glomar and King Beal clean up that WaD group that went for our ships.

Now, I never showed this before but, if you’ve a ship standing next to a squad, you can select the “Recovery” option to pull that squad into the ship you’ve just moved.
I’ll be doing this with Kouji’s group to have a backup in case I need one more attack to down Harry (mind, while a unit stays inside a ship, it loses 5 morale per turn but has its HP, EN and Ammo restored).

Enemy Phase!

Here comes another group of WaDs, this one going after Loran.

“Her majesty doesn’t wish for war!”

Gain and Kei get attacked, with Gain scoring an easy kill against a weakened WaD.

Some soldiers of Diana’s Royal Guards have deployed with Harry and they’re using the new Silver SUMOs.

Even regular mooks have special lines: “This thing isn’t just big?!”

Here comes Harry, making a beeline for Loran.

: White Doll! Is it you piloting it, Loran?!
: Please stop attacking, Lt. Harry! Her Majesty is—
: Don’t, Loran…! Kihel could be placed in danger if we act imprudently!
: Y-yes…!
: (I’ve no choice but to fight Lt. Harry if I'm to protect Lady Diana…! But, can I actually pull it off…?!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3dH3HNWKXQ
Might as well take this chance to show off Harry’s TRI attack (and an example of mook hive-mind) .
Also, Harry taking a weak hit from the Turn A: “It seems I overestimated the White Doll’s capabilities…”

Player Phase!

Asuham keeps attacking ammo-dependent people and, this time, it’s Rag’s turn.

Either way, we need to deal with Harry right now if we’re going to get that Skill Point.
Thankfully, he moved right in range of Roger’s Chrom Buster and King Beal’s Ion Cannon (everyone needs Strike to hit him reliably, of course).

Work your magic, Kei.

Good man.

Let’s take some extra cash and experience before we wrap this up: Kappei takes out the last WaDom, while Rag and her team get working on a group of WaDs.

Might as well give Elchi something to do.

And it pays off! She learns Prevail L4 and Support Attack L2!

Gain quickly punches the last WaD into oblivion.

Alright, let’s take Harry down.

Jiron versus (I think) good-looking men: “Looks don’t decide fights! Here I goooo!”

Harry drops an excellent Megabooster (like a Booster but gives +2 to movement), while Jiron and Joseph, respectively, learn Prevail L6 an L4.

Harry wonders if his defeat was caused by his doubts.
However, he inwardly thinks that maybe he’ll see whether this Diana is the real deal or not if they get their backs against the wall. With her safety in mind, he retreats.

:toot:

With both the advance troops and the royal guard destroyed, Phil angrily orders an attack on the Dome itself - "Diana" has had enough, though, and orders him to stop.
She addresses every living person in the battlefield, asking them to lay down their weapons and listen to what she has to say: she introduces herself and says she doesn't want this battle.
The Catez people are also watching, this being their first time seeing the Queen of the Moon (and “commander” of the Diana Counter) in person.
She says that Earth was once a ruined planet, where no man could live: “this frozen land of Siberia also bears the scars of that era…the Black History.”, she says.

However, it seems that the people of Earth have forgotten about that – why would that be? Because it’s the sad nature of humans to want to forget painful experiences but they, the Moon Race, have been living on the moon, waiting for the world to recover.
The world did regenerate and, although it was mixed with other ones, she knows humanity will prosper. Thus, the Moon Race has returned home and they wish to work together with the earthlings to prevent the mistakes of the past from being repeated.

The Catez folk are surprised to hear the Queen speaking of peaceful coexistence with Earthlings and Fran knows a scoop when she sees one.
Even the real Diana has to admit to Loran that Kihel is saying it better than she could – he, too, is very impressed with her. Kihel continues, saying the people were able to gain the power to recover only by sealing their legends and the Black History away as it would’ve been impossible for them to recover if they only had those terrible memories.
Thus, their interpretation of the Black History period was, in some cases, changed and, in other cases, completely overwritten. Roger sees a parallel with Paradigm City and wonders if their memory loss also served a purpose of concealing some kind of dreadful past event.

At the end of the day, we’re all humans – there’s no difference between the Earthlings and the Moon Race. Aki and Michi are also listening, understanding that she means that we CAN co-exist.
Kihel says that she came to Siberia in hopes of building a nation for the Moon Race while also living in harmony with those that already lived here. That being said, her group is willing to be leave Catez but she asks them to understand that they are the humans’ own kin who seek to come home.
Gwen and everyone else are impressed by her will and Loran wants to get to the Soreil before it leaves but Diana says she can entrust the Moon Race to Kihel for a while longer. In the meantime, she’ll continue to observe the Earthlings of this land with her own eyes.
Kihel orders all troops called back and, while Phil protests that it’ll embolden the Federation, she won’t take no for an answer.

Diana has new fans in the form of Dav and T-Bone but Beck isn’t as happy: thanks to her, their plans are completely ruined!
They have bigger problems, though, as Dorothy and Norman have just found them and the butler is very eager to hear the details of said plan. Beck and company try to make a run for it but Norman is packing a machine gun and starts shooting.
Our people notice the gunshots and so does Asuham, who rushes over to stop Norman. That’s the chance we need and Gain tells everyone to shoot where he indicates.

The attack strikes Asuham, destroying his camouflaging overcoat and revealing him.
Gain points out that him covering his mooks was his undoing and, as they expected, the thief’s invisibility was an OverSkill and Asuham is pretty pissed that he can’t use it anymore – Kei’s still impressed that Overmen can do such things. Gain’s rather disappointed that Asuham’s fallen so that he’d resort to stealing in order to take advantage of the ensuing battle.
Asuham yells at him to shut up as he’s more than willing to take him out personally when his plan has failed.
He calls for the usual backup and Jiron isn’t about to forgive Hola for trying to use the Moon Race like that – Hola insists that this is a little something called STRATEGY!
Roger, however, knows that it was their fault that his negotiation fell through so he’ll now lay proper punishment upon them. Asuham says that won’t happen, though, because they’ve hired suitable opponents for him.

That’d be Beck, Dav and T-Bone and Norman apologizes for being unable to catch them.
Roger figures that’s fine as it allows him to pummel them personally and his fancy way to speaking is ever so annoying to Beck. each of them has their own Victory Deluxe which Beck was finally able to mass-produce.
Roger figures Beck probably fled Paradigm City to escape the police and Beck’s knee-jerk reaction seems to confirm that. However, he insists that TODAY is the end of the road for Roger and prepares to pay him back for all the trouble he gave him before.

Beck asks Asuham to let him deal with “crow-boy” and he does but tells him to make sure to take him out for good.
“Come, you hoodlums. As per Galia’s law, today I will outright face you via brute strength,” Roger says.
As for Gain, he doesn’t have time for this reunion with Asuham, so he’ll have to make him leave. Good news is that Kona has finished setting up the Turn A’s spare equipment, so she calls Loran over and quickly returns his stuff.

Gengoroh tells everyone to focus on downing the enemy leaders so we can wrap this up quickly. Mel understands and cheers her darling to take out the “thief and gold hoodlums” – Asuham isn’t amused at being called a thief by a little girl.
Gain says she’s only calling it as she sees it. Asuham has had enough of Gain and promises to settle everything with him right now.

Dav and T-Bone don’t really warrant a closer look (they’re worse pilots than Beck on all accounts and only know Prevail L3 and Support Attack L2) but let’s take a quick look at our new Overman enemy:

Jinba (Asuham Boone)

Asuham has done a wee bit of leveling up since our last encounter (his Prevail is now L4) but, overall, he’s the same. The Jinba, however, is quite a bit different than his Golem: compared to the old Overman, this one has higher HP and mobility but lower defense, accuracy and attack power (its TRI attack is stronger, though, but Asuham’s flying solo).
Two things you need to worry about here: the first one is that he’s equipped with an A-Adaptor which gives all his terrains A rating (this is what Roger wants to fix his terrain issues); more importantly, the other problem is his OverSkill which, when over 130 morale, gives him permanent 100% hit rate.
Not nice, especially considering that he’ll likely use it against Gain so watch it (not that him being shot down would matter, what with Roger’s Negotiator skill but…).

Gainer needs to boost his morale, so I send him right to the frontlines and after Geraba.

Geraba’s easily double attacked by Gainer while Kouji and Maria, in Wide Formation, deal some decent damage to his squaddies.

Enemy Phase!

Gainer gets attacked by a bunch of things but he dodges every single attack before dealing some decent damage in return.

During all that, Maria gets a level and learns ESP L4.

Hola isn’t wasting time today.

: Cut it out, Hola! Go and find some real work instead of staying on that sinking ship!
: Shut it! You, a gold digger, dares lecture me?!
: I didn’t fall in love with Elchi because she’s a captain! I did with the woman, Elchi Cargo!
: Aw! You’re embarrassing me, Jiron!
: Uuuurgh! QUIT SHOWING OFF!!

Good man.

Everyone else goes after Gainer and so does Asuham: evasion decay has skewed the numbers a bit but I think it’ll be fine.

: Pilot of the silver Overman! I might forget that I saw you if you surrender that unit nice and easy!
: King Gainer is mine and I'm not about to hand it over to anyone else!
: Besides, your Overman's already a perfect fit for your dirty tricks!

Sure, sure.

Player Phase!

Destroying Hola’s mooks would be annoying, so I just send Zambot in to cut him down to size.

With that, the way is clear for Roger.

Roger’s line against Breakers (or just Hola/Geraba?): “Although you were hooked by the reward, you really should’ve been more selective of your employer”.

Hola drops a High-Spec Radar and Roger gains a level, learning Spirit.

Hola asks why he can’t win against Jiron – especially when he’s already so much more good looking.
Jiron's got the real answer: Elchi hates droopy-eyed guys like him. Hola yells that he’s lying just as his mech explodes and Sochie figures Jiron’s words were the final straw for him.
Gavane notes that Hola did manage to eject but figures his pride is what took the most damage.

Bye, Enge!

He had hoped that siding with the Saint Reagan would improve his situation but things are the same as ever and he’s certainly not willing to put his life on the line for this.

Geraba and company have already taken some damage, so let’s have Jiron join in on the attack.

: Geraba! Your biggest issue is that you’re a terrible judge of character!
: Zip it! I took a gamble with my bro! We’ve hit a rough patch but we’ll still make it big!
: Whaaaa? So you knew that Hola’s plan was going down the drain and still stuck with him?
: Time to pay the piper, then! You better not get mad when you lose!

Jiron takes a small hit but it’s alright.

Give him what for, Rand.

: Come on, The Crusher!
: …
: Wha-?! HEY! Get angry like you always do!
: Sorry…but you're just so sad that I can’t even bring myself to do it.
: Y-you’re actually a good guy...sort of…
: Aw, shucks. Relax, I’ll just give you a teensy, tiny dismantling today.
: After all that, that's what you do?! You ARE The Crusher!!
: You said it twice!! Even God gets pissed if you hit him twice! Grit your teeth!!
: Darling…destroying proverbs is never okay…

Going in with Wide Formation allows Bello and Sara to take out his squaddies, too.

FYI: the proverb Rand's playing on is 仏の顔も三度まで, which, essentially, means "even a saint will get angry if insulted multiple times(lit. Even Buddha may be upset if his face is hit thrice)" - Rand's change comes from replacing 三度, thrice, with 二度, twice.

Bello takes a level and learns Invincible.

As his unit blows up, Geraba yells that, if things are gonna go like this, it would’ve been better if they had stayed in Zora.
Keiko notes that he was crying while running off and Uchuuta can only feel bad for the guy – especially once those tears start to freeze up.

Gainer TRI attacks a squad of regular Under Golems (activating his OverSkill from the kill) while Loran takes a shot at Dav.

Also, I totally forgot that he had lines after Kihel’s speech:

: (Mistress Kihel was magnificent as her majesty’s substitute…!)
: (Then, my mission is to protect the real Queen Diana! I must succeed!)

Just need to weaken him a wee bit more.

Good, good.

And Shaia takes him down.

Dav isn’t to up being shot down here and freezing to death, so he quickly ejects.

Enemy Phase!

Gainer gets jumped by Asuham and sniped from afar by Jaboli and Kejinan.
Meanwhile, Elchi is attacked by T-Bone, Zakki and a Saint Reagan Under Golem, having no choice but to tank the Overmen’s attacks.

Player Phase!

Zakki is using Asuham’s Golem so he’s a bit more resilient; still, the size difference between it and the King Beal means nice damage is done to his entire squad.

Let’s see how Gain does with some help from the Iron Gear.

Adette’s Wide Formation attack takes down one of Zakki’s squadmates , so she levels up and learns Support Defense L2.

I could focus on the bosses but Overmen enemies give a nice amount of cash, so I want to shoot those down.
Kei takes a couple while Elchi downs Zakki’s surviving squaddie.

Do it, Rag!

Very nice.

Everyone takes a level but Dyke learns both Support Defense L2 and Iron Wall.

Zakki complains that everything would’ve been fine if they had destroyed the exodizers before Gain came back – this awful turn of events is all because of Asuham vendetta!

A quick jab from Rand and T-Bone is also downed.

He’s also not willing to die while he’s enjoying his hard-earned freedom, so he ejects.

Beck’s coming after Roger but we can have Zambot and Loran intercept.

Time for Roger to teach you a lesson.

“You don't have what it takes to be a professional criminal! You should just go back to jail!”

Beck also drops a Hybrid Armor.

Beck is very annoyed that he’s been defeated twice and Roger just makes it worse: “It seems you missed one, Beck. If you consider the first time I got you arrested, this would be your third defeat.”
Beck tells him to shut up as those annoying coppers aren’t here to bug him anymore – he’ll make a comeback for sure and, when he does, the first thing he’ll do is come after Roger.
As he leaves, Roger quips that it would’ve been safer if Beck did his speech AFTER escaping. Still, petty parting threats are the mark of a hoodlum, thus Roger will respect it this time.

Next in line is Jaboli who falls easily against the combined powers of Jiron and Gainer.

Kouji takes a level, getting Prevail L5.

She has little excuse to offer but, as she retreats, promises to pray for Asuham’s victory.

Enemy Phase!

Kejinan takes my bait and attacks Gainer, taking some nice damage in return.

While the last two Under Golem groups decide to gun for the Iron Gear.

And that’s the story of how a tiny Overman survived a battleship being dropped on top of him.
Elchi did take out one mook in the other group, though.

Eeergh, Asuham has activated his OverSkill so Gain will need to defend this.

: Despite all that strategy, you’re nothing short of a thief! You’re a disgrace to your family name!
: Silence, Gain! You are calling me a thief?!
: Stealing someone’s heart is private matter. Karin won’t like it if you keep being such a mother hen, bro.
: I WILL NOT BE “BRO”'D BY THE LIKES OF YOU!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uHCsMAyA98
Ow.

Player Phase!

Alright. Time to wrap this up, so Jiron quickly dispatches Kejinan.

Everyone takes a level and Gavane gets Prevail L3.

Kejinan isn’t happy with these so-called Saint Reagan “elites”: they make him work so hard and, in the end, still fail to deliver?

I tried to get Adette in range to attack him but it didn’t fly:

: Batter up, Kejinan! I’ll put a final stop to our history right here!
: But, ma’am! What about my feelings?!
: Not my problem. If you want to tell me something, show that you’re a strong man first!

Now, Shaia and Loran quickly take down the last Under Golems while Roger leaves Asuham in the red.

Adette has saved enough SP to cast Bless, so we do that for maximum :20bux:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_216Bg-5iXg
:byewhore:

Asuham drops his A-Adaptor and Kappei learns Accelerate!

Asuham realizes that his Jinba isn’t suited for head-on combat but Gain says “I could’ve won with a stronger Overman!” is a poor excuse.
Asuham has no choice but to admit defeat for today but, of course, he promises to return and with even greater power than today. Dyke sees that Asuham’s a real sore loser and Burume wonders if he shouldn’t be getting fired after getting his rear end kicked twice.

That’s fine with Rag as she doesn’t want to run into him again and Gain only wishes that he would let things go.
Either way, all enemies have fled so Gainer would like to ask what the hell Asuham’s problem with Gain is. Rand is also interested as, from what he’s heard, it seems to be about someone called Karin.
Indeed, Karin is Asuham’s sister and Rand immediately figures that she must be Gain’s Ex but he says things never got serious like that. Kei sees that Gain’s just as much of a sharpshooter at night and he somberly agrees, seeing how Karin apparently gave birth to a child of his.

Either way, this is a problem between him and Karin (and Asuham) so there’s no more to be said – plus, he’s far more interested in hearing about Gainer’s little date.
Bello wants to know who the mystery girl was and Sara intends to have him explain everything once they get back. Inwardly, Gainer notices that Sara seems angry so maybe that his situation with her isn’t entirely hopeless.
Still, he knows that he’ll have to apologize to Cynthia for standing her up and, coincidentally, she saw the whole thing from Catez and is even more interested in the King. Angel is also present: “An Early Overman, a Turn Type, Fallen Angels and a “Big” Megadeus…is it a coincidence that they all gathered in this frozen land? Or is it destiny?”, she wonders.
Either way, she hopes to meet Roger again…

Aboard the Soreil, we find Kihel asking what Milan and Phil are up to. Harry says they’re planning their next move as her words today will likely force them to leave Siberia and head south.
This means Zora and Harry’s heard that it’s a land just as harsh as Siberia but she sees that as all the more reason for them to use it as their new home: they’ll restore that inhospitable land for the future generations.
“Ideals alone will not keep the army under control, Kihel Heim.”, Harry says and warns her that Diana wouldn’t have such naïve thoughts. Kihel protests that she merely looks like that girl and, as her underling, Harry should do as she says.
They’re interrupted as an incoming transmission is received by the Soreil crew: from Durandal…

Back at our team, Loran is thinking that Keith managed to open a bakery in Catez and Fran is an UN reporter tracking the Moon Race’s activities. They found a place to live in Earth, so surely the rest of the Moon Race can do the same.
Keiko is nearby, telling Kappei that it’s looking like the caravan refugees were accepted into Catez. Kappei says he’ll have to thank Roger later but, from what Kei’s heard, with the Moon Race leaving the area, there was no reason to deny them entrance anymore.

Kappei figures it wasn’t Roger’s handiwork, then, but he interjects saying that, while the Moon Race’s retreat certainly helped, this result was derived of the negotiation he had with the Catez folk.
Well, Kappei thanks him either way and Roger says it would’ve been a shame to leave without clearing that misunderstanding. When Uchuuta asks, Roger says that, while he was hired as a negotiator for Yapan’s Ceiling, there’s no further need for his services as the Saint Reagan will have to pull back for a while after today’s battle and our destination lies straight ahead.
Still, Sara says the aliens and Fallen Angels are still around and, when they attack, the power of his Big O would be needed. Sadly, fighting such things isn’t really in line with his job as a Negotiator – that’d be more of a self-defense service.

Well, Kei thinks Roger could easily make a living as a bodyguard but that is not his true calling. Furthermore, we’ll be getting people more suited for this job as we’ve received a transmission indicating that our Pacific team is coming back.
With that in mind, Roger will be returning to his true professional duties and, while he wouldn’t call her a replacement, Tiptree will still be taking a ride on the Iron Gear. Despite the Caravan folk finding a new home, it seems she and her people have voyage of their own to complete.
Kappei does find it strange that she’d do that after the trouble she went through to get here but, as a Vodarac cultist, even this blizzard is seen as just another manifestation of nature so she won’t shy away from it.

Mome is saying her farewells to Dorothy and she’s spent a good part of the past days teaching Dorothy how to properly perform her maidly duties. Dorothy doesn’t see herself as a maid but, since Mome went through the trouble of teaching her, she’ll give it a try.
Mome also tells her to remember to smile but Dorothy neither expects nor seeks Roger's approval that way.
Roger sees that Dorothy made a friend and it’s a shame that they have to leave like this. Still, Rand figures we have some sort of connection, so we’re bound to run into each other again.
Roger agrees with his assessment, seeing how they managed to have this reunion despite the size and state of the world.

It’s a promise, then, and Rand says he and Norman will make Big O all shiny before his departure – Roger thanks him and heads back to his train. After he goes, Mel is a bit silent and Rand asks if there’s something wrong as he’ll also need her help with said maintenance.
She asks about the place where Rand said he met Roger, Paradigm City. It seems she’s heard that town’s name before from Asakim and Rand’s surprised that he knew the place (Toby was also told about it while he chased Asakim down).
Mel remembered it because, just like Rand, she also mistook it for “Paradise City” when she first heard it. Either way, Rand wonders if there’s a connection between him, Roger and Asakim with the town.
Mel asks what about her, then, and Rand says she’s a little girl who shouldn’t try to muscle in on the friendship of GROWN MEN – with that, he quickly heads out to get Big O fixed up.

Bright has just finished giving Heizaemon the sitrep on the pacific, including Orb's union with the Federation.
With that in mind, Durandal has told them to join back with our team and head to Japan. The reason for that is that Japan holds a similar position to what Orb previously held, so Durandal wants to see if they wouldn’t be willing to cooperate with Zaft.
Heizaemon sees no problem with it, so he tells Ichitaro to set up a meeting point while Bright gives everyone his best and starts headed to the set area. As he cuts the comm, Heizaemon thinks that, with Orb’s alliance with the feds, the world will become even more bipolar.

Gengoroh figures humans each have their own principles so conflicts are inevitable BUT the problem is that the aliens can take advantage of this. However, because people don’t understand the gravity of the situation, even those who aren’t interested in the conflict end up having no choice but to fight.
Right then, Ichitaro receives a transmission from the Gekkostate: it seems want to do business with the Glomar/Iron Gear's Market, so they request to meet up with us. The irony isn’t lost on Gengoroh that the same Gekkostate that Talia spent so long chasing around is willingly coming over.
Heizaemon ponders how we’re all gathering in Siberia again and wonders if fate’s drawing them here…

Both routes join up from here on out so we’ll see the rest later.

So, while waiting on updates, I figured I'd watch some of the shows featured in this game. Since Killer the Butcher seemed like such a jovial sort of guy, I decided to watch Zambot 3.

It's, uh...

Something, all right.

I'm guessing there's a Zambot secret to avert original ending, right? Will you be showing both the Tomino version and the happy version? There is a happy version, right?

Pacific Route Chapter 19 Part 1

Last time on Super Robot Wars Z: Shinn flipped out, and Amuro (and Katz) joined our team. Shinn got a party and good times were had by all.

Current Top Aces:

1. Setsuko - 45 Kills
2. Holland - 35 Kills
3. Kamille - 30 Kills
4. Quattro - 29 Kills
5. Marin - 28 Kills

Roybea finally leaves the Top Aces, mainly due to Holland being back this stage. Poor Setsuko, didn't get a single shot last time. Hopefully this stage lets her go up to Ace status.

Garrod, Holland, and Eureka get some upgrades, and I head off to the next stage. Katz isn't usable this stage, so we'll look at the kid later

Location: Sector L5 – Plants’ Capital: Aprilius

We find ourselves at a dock, with Athrun having just arrived to meet Durandal and Meer – she finds that Zaft’s uniform really suits him.
Durandal hopes that this means he’ll now listen to his request; indeed, he paid a visit to the graves of his friends and comrades who perished in the previous war and has decided to not waste what power he has to help the Plants.
Durandal feels the same way and that’s why he gave that uniform to Athrun – so that he’ll be able to do what he wants to do; Athrun’s convictions are firm once again and, to help him in his mission, Durandal has another gift: a FAITH badge.
Durandal would rather Athrun wasn’t placed in a normal chain of command (and he figures it’d be troublesome for him, as well) so he figured this was a more convenient solution; Athrun need not swear allegiance to the military or even the Plants, but only to his own convictions.
He’d taken Athrun as the type of person who unwaveringly follows the path the believes in and is ready to fight when necessary; Athrun hopes to be like that, yes, and Durandal thinks he can do it, which is why he wants him to use this power whenever it is needed.
While Durandal concedes that this may appear too grandiose, he’d like Athrun to act not just for Zaft and the Plants but for a world where everyone can live in peace - to help with that, he saw fit to prepare one last gift: the ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam.
Though its specs are different, it was developed at the same time as the Chaos, Gaia and Abyss Gundams and he now entrusts it to Athrun.

quote:

:eng101: Information Corner – Topic: FAITH :eng101:
Short for "Fast Acting Integrated Tactical Headquarters", a Zaft special forces squadron; only the most capable, accomplished fighters are assigned to this squadron after endorsements from the Secretary of Defense and the chairman of the Plant Supreme Council.
The silver badge denoting membership always commands respect and admiration from those who see it.
Though called a special forces unit, its members are not attached to any specific chain of command; rather, they are permitted to act and issue orders on their own, including trumping the ordinary tactical chain of command.

With that in mind, he should hurry as, not long ago, Orb has officially declared it’s union with the Federation while also announcing Cagalli and Yuna’s marriage.
This gets Athrun’s attention and, considering how worried he must be about the current situation in the country, Durandal thinks it’d be best for him to join up with the Minerva at Trinity City; mind, the Rivalry Zones may be thinner in that area but he still wants Athrun to take care.
Durandal has high hopes for the ship – that they might serve a similar purpose as the Archangel in the previous war – so he asks him to lend them a hand in his own way; Athrun prepares to leave, with Meer wishing him good luck.
Inwardly, Durandal thinks it was very fortunate that Athrun returned to the Plants when he did; “they” should carry out their mission later and, if successful, Durandal’s Lacus will become the real one…

Back in Orb, we find Cagalli already in her wedding dress, wondering why things had to end like this – is this really for Orb’s future? Yuna comes in to check that everything’s in order.
Cagalli is getting cold feet but Yuna figures it’s a bit too late to talk about calling the wedding off, no? Furthermore, their marriage is a beacon of hope to their citizens who have been living in fear.
She’s unconvinced but he suggests that she drop that disagreeable way of speaking today; the people will get upset if she, the motherly figure of this nation, continues to act like that.
She’s not a child anymore and, while he does feel bad for putting her through this so quickly, there wasn’t anything that could be done – they are both Naturals and Orb is joining the New Earth Federation.

If Cagalli understands that, he wants her to take off the ring she got from Athrun; this annoys her but Yuna says there’s no real point in yelling…or would she rather call off the wedding and let the people know that she chose a Coordinator? That she wants to ally with the Plants again and fight the New Federation?
Would she abandon her country and her duty while keeping the name Athha?
Mind you, he doesn’t hate the Coordinators but, whether it’s with Athrun or her brother, Kira, they can’t have them around her – Orb’s representative; either way, the ceremony will begin shortly and he’d suggest that she practice smiling until then.
As the scene fades, Cagalli can only think of Athrun and Kira…

At Onogoro Island's secret dock, Waltfeld and Maria are admiring the swell of Trapars gracing the area today – a perfect day for Lifting (except for that wedding, of course).
This’ll be the last time that they’ll be able to drink coffee here, so he's gone all out in roasting the morning's batch; Maria takes a sip, noting that yesterday's blend was better for being more moderate, proving the old maxim that "Less is More".
Either way, Waltfeld thinks Orb’s decision is quite unfortunate but there wasn’t anything else that could be done; they’re both sure Cagalli did her best to try and stop it, too.
Still, even as the representative, it’s too difficult for an 18 year-old girl to get involved in politics when the situation is so messed up – he doesn’t intend on blaming her for how things turned out.
Maria says the problem is that, with Orb’s entry into the Federation, Waltfeld, Kira and Lacus will lose their home; indeed, Waltfeld's sure the Federation still holds many people sympathetic to the old Blue Cosmos' ideals, meaning any of Orb's advocacy of harmony between Coordinators and Naturals is destined to fall.
Maria thinks all of them would’ve been happy to just live out their lives in peace but it seems even that’s not allowed; which is why they’ll be leaving, too, in search of another place to call home.

”They” meaning Maria’s crew - Neumann and Chandra enter to say that everyone’s accounted for and all systems are good to go; Murdock, the ship’s mechanic, asks about Kira and Lacus.
They’re back at their home, bringing some stuff over…it’s been a while since they left, though.

They're saying their goodbyes to the house they lived in and to the whole nation of Orb.
Lacus wonders why they must be driven out of this peaceful life and asks where they can even go to after leaving the country; Kira doesn’t know but they and everyone else will search some place together.
Their talk is interrupted when Kira tells her to duck just in time for an explosion to hit the outside of the house.

Assassins soon start pouring into the house and Kira notices that they’re gunning for Lacus (plus, there’s something odd about the way they move).
The assassins prepare to open fire…

Chapter 19 - Resurrected Wings

Down by the beach, Lacus has made her way to Waltfeld and explains what happened.
It seems Waltfeld’s hunch was right and he asks about Kira; Lacus says they escaped together and after that...she’s interrupted when a joint force of Mobile Suits and KLFs enter the area and Waltfeld’s surprised they’re going this far to take down one person.
Lacus says they’ll be fine, though, as Kira’s coming right over.

The enemy forces quickly recognize the Freedom and decided that, once it’s out of the way, there’ll be no one to protect Lacus.

: I kept it set up just to be safe but...
: Now I have to use this power in a war again…
: Kira…
: …It’s fine. I’m alright, Lacus.
: It’d hurt me even more if I couldn’t protect you and our loved ones…
: So, I’ll…!

: We have to run right now, Lacus!
: Kira…we’re counting on you.
: I’ll keep you all safe…!

This is a simple stage. We have three turns to beat all these enemies. A nice little breather after some tough stages.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
Kira Yamato - ZGMF-X10A Freedom
Voiced by Soichiro Hoshi(Japanese), Matt Hill(English)

Skills:
* SEED - At 130 Will the pilots attacks will do 1.1 times more damage.
* Blocking - If the mech is equipped with a shield and/or sword, can use Sword Block and Shield Block. Sword Block will neutralize melee and missile attacks, while Shield Block will reduce damage taken. Activation rate is based off the skill stat.
* Counter (Level X) - On the enemy phase, will sometimes attack before the enemy. Activation rate is determined by the skill stat.

Spirit Commands:
* Sense (20) - Casts both "Strike" and "Alert" on the caster.
* Focus(10) - Increases hit and evasion rates by 30%
* Mercy(10) - If the pilot's skill stat is higher then the enemy's, then an attack that would normally defeat the enemy leaves them alive with 10 HP.

Squad Leader Bonus
* +10% Accuracy, +20% Blocking activation rate

The Freedom is good, it's not a powerful endgame upgrade like it was back in previous games, but hey technology has moved on. It has a post movement ALL attack, which is always good. Kira himself is a good pilot, he has a good ranged stat and a pretty high skill stat, he'll be blocking a lot of attacks with that and he'll hit fairly hard. The Freedom has EN Regen so you can be a bit more free with it's energy consuming attacks. He can be made even more dodgy for tying with Setsuko for cheapest Focus thus far. Plus he has an S Rank in Space, that's handy.

Right, we have three turns to defeat these enemies. There aren't any squads so what you see is what you get. The vast majority of the kills will be from counter attacks.

Get as close to the center of them all as possible and let the smackdown begin!

: If the world will not leave us alone, then…
: I’ll act, despite my doubts…! To prevent the pain and sadness of those days from returning!

Yeah, this is not a hard Battle Mastery to get.

Enemy Phase comes and...

Counter kicks in so the first shot doesn't even let the poor grunt get in a final potshot.

These guys I won't be attacking on my turn, I still have a time limit and it's best to let them die to counters.

The Windam actually has a decent chance to hit Kira, let's see how that goes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egMTwn79j5U
Uhh... never mind. v:v:v

On my turn I mark where the far off dagger can move to, this way I can stay in his attack range for the counter on the enemy phase, allowing me to attack this KLF

"As expected, we'll have to eliminate the Freedom...!"

"Freedom...you troublesome watchdog!"

Pretty much every enemy here has special lines for fighting Kira.

And my plan works!

Kira even gets another level of Counter out of it.

Final turn, two weakened enemies left, honestly I have this one in the bag.

Just in case though, I target the one with the higher health.

Precaution unneeded, come enemy phase...

:toot: Next part to come later in the week.

I honestly don't get why you showed a video of the normal Beam Saber when you could've shown the rather cool kill animation instead. Even more since, IIRC, Strike Freedom doesn't get one for some unexplainable reason.

Also you can see how important the Freedom will be in this game by how barebones the Hi-Mat Full Burst is. Not even a multilock animation. And there's the incredibly silly version where the Freedom does a 180º turn, and shoots legs-up for no explainable reason.

Because that can be a video for a later update. :v:

Ask me about being the best dad ever.
I appreciate how this gave the Freedom's deployment scene a much needed trimming; the original anime dragged it out soooo much and filled with Kira and Lacus angsting about having to fight (it was around 10 minutes between them reaching the hangar and faffing about before Kira actually launched).

Then there was about 30 seconds of fighting before Jesus Yamato made everything right.

Not my favorite episode but I had to sit through it to check stuff...

I didn't even know regular Freedom was in this game! I'd presumed for a moment that was Strike Freedom and was all 'that looks way less neat then what I saw of it in Z2'.

This is admittedly partially a filler post to help get to the nest page, but did you used to have a Dai-Guard avatar? For some vague reason I seem to be conflating your name with that show, and it's bugging me slightly.

Not at all. I've used Bless ever since the W LP (and that was the first one I got, mind).

Huh. That's an odd battle mastery to see this late in the game. It's like something you'd get in a tutorial.

Yeah. Regular Freedom's...kind of lame, really. It's a decent unit, but not as powerful as it gets hyped up to be even in Destiny, and the animations are pretty janky. Strike Freedom, however, is loving awesome, because this game has squads and Strike Freedom has funnels, a map attack, and lots of attack power. Add those things together and you get a drat good time.

Or in Z2:D, which is nothing but. The games after it have had good challenges, though.

Actually, in Z, some of the most interesting challenges are secret ending flags.

If someone says it one more time I'm having Florina show up as a corpse. I'm not even kidding, I was pissed off with people doing that shit back in 2010, and I'm not dealing with it now in 2016.
Well they make it pretty blatant here that Durandel ordered the hit on Lacus, in the anime itself, he never implicates himself in any way and thus "Sure they're using new ZAFT Mobile Suits, but this is Comic Era and everyone steals everything from EVERYONE, the plot of this show kicked off with the Federation stealing 3 ZAFT Mobile Suits".

Something else I never really got, Durandel is the bad guy here, so why did he give Athrun the FAITH power?

We're not that late in the game, for one thing.

This is Stage 19. There are 60 Stages in the game. :v:

Also, SRW does tend to follow fairly hard stages with a simple one. 18 was pretty difficult, tough terrain, and a very narrow time limit.

The show makes it super-obvious. Beyond the actual many scenes of Durandal scheming, the assassination attempt is ordered only after Lacus declares her intent to return to PLANT right after we find out Durandal has a fake version of Lacus Clyne who he is using as a propaganda tool. Also the assassins were Coordinators. There is literally nobody else who has the means, motivation or ability to do so.

As for the second: Because he was trying to get Athrun on his side.
