Haha oh it's a porn game. I guess I was not expecting that from the title but I probably should have! Haha ugh

I wanted it to be like House of the Dead or something :(

Everyone should play DUKE games.

:dukedog:
Oh it's not actually porn game sorry, just, structurally, it has that very braindead gameplay of "talk to these folks," "walk over here and talk to these folks" Without anything really interesting going on regarding the setting or how you interact with folks. It got big though (by the standards of this kind of game) because in 2008 the developer did a remake of it with better graphics and it's about zombies so it caught on.

I got the chance to see some exclusive gameplay and I can confirm they are third-person open-world titles with a shitton of collectibles, a sub-par if not outright nonsensical story and an Aisha Tyler cameo.

A new generation means huge expectations for the instalments in different franchises and the last gen definetly was a dissappointed in that regard: MGS4, DMC4, RE5 and FFXIII were all more or less inferior to their predecessor, for example. I have no idea how things will turn out now, but this and The Phantom Pain are looking really, really good. Don't fail me now, 2015.

I think most of those games are considered good or at least had mixed reactions aside from FFXIII, so lol those are some poor examples to use.

DMC4 was pretty much objectively the best DMC game, and Final Fantasy 13 at least tried new things and was better than 12.

There once was a tiger-striped cat.
If DMC4 wasn't half backtracking and repeated bosses it would be infinitely superior to 3

And if half of DMC3's enemies weren't bad and the stage design wasn't so terrible it could be the best DMC too.

Honestly DMC4 is the only one that's kinda on the edge. I didn't personally enjoy it as much as 3 but everything is a matter of preference, of course. I'm willing to say that more people disliked MGS4 and RE5 than liked them. Then there's FFXIII, and some people like that too.

Captain Baal

It's weird to use those specific franchises as an example because for as long as most of them existed the fanbases have been divisive, especially FF. Like it's weird to say 13 is considered worse than 12 when upon release 12 was largely hated in Japan and mixed in the West whereas the inverse happened with 13. There are people who FFX is a step down from the playstation games or the PS games are a step down from SNES games too. The same goes for RE and MGS, those are all series with divisive fans who get their own thing out of them.

DMC is probably the only one where fans are actually in agreement for the most part and the only argument really comes from if 3 or 4 is the best.

Here's to the new us.
There is a LP of FF13 being done right now and I can describe every video to you: a boring character walks in a straight line, says some nonsensical gibberish that is supposedly a plot, and the LP edits out half the fights because FF13 is a garbage game.

I really like 12 although I don't know that I could play through it again even if it was the zodiac international diamond club version or whatever. Too many hours put into the original!!

It's hard for me to see people praise Xenoblade and poo poo on FF12 since they're similar and I honestly feel Xeno's combat is worse.
