Did rampage get hurt from the oblique kicks? I honestly don't remember though I know he bitched about them alot. My point is more that there has never been a horrific leg snapping injury from them and he's been doing it for years.

The oblique kick is meant to stop people moving forward. Jones doesn't really put much hip into it anyway. He uses it so he can rake his opponent in the eyes anyway. There are some kicks I've seen in k1 where they kick from a more inside to out angle that can gently caress someone's knee but I don't think Cormier is going to plod forward like rampage and rashad do or did. Also Nick and nate are both bigger than people realise. Nate walks around at 180.

He does have another fight on his deal and I doubt the limit on his contract expired before the 1 year mark (they signed Eddie last fall for the first attempt at Bellator PPV in November, remember?) My guess would be holding on to Eddie Alvarez was a big battle when they had Bjorn and the old tournament format and such. Since that Eddie deal they brought in Coker, have shaken up the format, might be rebranding the promotion, have a better idea how their PPVs are going to compete with UFC, etc., so now Viacom might be willing to let Eddie walk so they can go forward with the new direction. I don't believe the rumor but it's possible with all the other changes going on with Bellator recently.
