Honestly, Ulysses is a terrible person and all, but that's mostly brought about by being an idealist in the loving Fallout universe. Though yeah, considering he pretty much went "hey, kill these children because I think this guy I don't know is a seeerious douchenozzle" he's not exactly sympathetic.

Also yeah, there's like 6 or 7 confirmed books for every skill if you have all the DLCs, and then Honest Hearts has like 25 crates that each have like a 4% chance to drop a random non combat one. So it's actually like 72-84ish skillpoints from one perk, which is pretty good. Plus the magazine benefit, yep.

That's a useful thing. The middling amount of extra skill points from skill books is a neat side effect, but requires the hunting of skill books, and that is lame/lovely/dumb effort.

I dunno, compared to FO3 where half the perks were 'get +10 to some skill', getting up to 80 free skill points for one perk is pretty good. Even if I only find like 10 of the books (which is easy, I probably found 20 on my first playthrough) that's as much bonus. But I say that as a person who doesn't play with jsawyer because i like my skillpoints

New vegas has piles of perks that aren't that and gives you more than enough skill points to max out useful skills and combat skills so I never understood that. poo poo if you're playing to like level 50 you can have an astronomically low INT and still have enough skill points to get crazy high gains. Personally I take Skilled and Fear The Reaper to get max perks BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY and give me better starting skill points. Even getting perks every level I have so many more i want to to take.

Cheyenne, stay The gunfight in goodsprings didn't go so well this time around Starting up Vegas again, this time trying something new with Jsawyer and a bunch of mods from the OP (thanks guys!) including one to affect aim wobble when my character's hungry, thirsty etc. It's pretty neat and a lot more interesting than my usual tactic of looting everything and unloading 15+ 9mm pistols, Merc Charmer outfits on the nearest vendor, now I just have to take what I can carry based on how useful/valuable it is.

Also probably play as a woman because I've only done that once before.

Ahaha holy poo poo. Did your Cheyenne just appear like that? I think mine lost its eyes in the gunfight or something. I want to vote automatics but energy weapons are just so much fun. Most of my recent runs always seem to end up going "INT, Speech, play a Good Guy as well", so doing a proper Stealth/Guns/greedy hoarder orientated run like I first did in Fallout 3 is very fun. Apart from the occasional dude not caring about his buddy's head suddenly flying off there's just so much more to like about stealth in NV, what with actual silenced guns and what seems like way more stealth boys lying around. Might even get some points in Melee and go hunting with Throwing Spears!

You know, one other thought: assuming you fix the B29, it means the Boomers have access to a fixed wing aircraft with a range of many thousands of miles. That means contact can potentially be made with people outside the US, now...

I don't know about how well a B-29 could handle a transcontinental flight, but the NCR has vertibirds, so they've had that capability for a while.

It's also palpably lower tech, so potentially people can start building their own versions.

I managed to take down a Deathclaw Mother with three or four shots from the same gun.

You'd be surprised-the B-29 was a technological marvel when it made its combat debut in 1944, and overall the cost of development was actually greater than that of the Atomic Bomb. Heavier-than-air aviation is pretty complicated stuff, and without the proper manufacturing facilities, industrial base, or technical knowledge there's no way anyone could replicate anything more complicated than a Spad-XIII. Hell, the Russians got three intact B-29s in '45 and look at how long it took a modern, developed country to replicate it in the form of the Tu-4.

That's an interesting point, though. The Boomers have qualified aircraft mechanics and aviators, and the NCR airport-base has a lot of aircraft husks plus the wreckage buried in the sand by Jean Sky Diving. If they were to pool their talents they might be able to cobble together something easier to replicate.
