the guy who bought the images to post onto 4chan is going to try and pass the buck up to the people he bought the images from, but they will have been a hundred times smarter than him and more or less won't exist, so every computer the guy ever touched will be hosed over by the law and the sentence will take into account the lack of cooperation (because the judge won't accept that the people who sold the images really exist), and the guys lack of remorse (because he did this in the first place). gonna be glorious.

is it like a rolling thing too? is there one source who's just releasing a bit at a time? because that's PR 101 for making this way bigger than it otherwise would be, and makes me feel worse for the people involved

tabloids also have some small sense of decency, at least outside of the uk. you can work with them by feeding them pictures or pay them off to keep them quiet. this poo poo is the wild west, they're not even trying to go the blackmail route

http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/05/us/massachusetts-upskirt-photography/index.html (CNN) -- Massachusetts' highest court ruled Wednesday that it is not illegal to secretly photograph underneath a person's clothing -- a practice known as "upskirting" -- prompting one prosecutor to call for a revision of state law. The high court ruled that the practice did not violate the law because the women who were photographed while riding Boston public transportation were not nude or partially nude. so if you don't want up skirts, then go around nude on the bus.

(CNN) -- A hacker's leak of nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other female celebrities is now a case for the FBI. Nude photographs of Lawrence, who won an Academy Award last year for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook," were splashed on various sites Sunday. They appeared on 4chan, Reddit, Twitter and Tumblr, among others. Kate Upton's lawyer confirmed photos of the model-actress were among those leaked, calling it "an outrageous violation" of her privacy. "We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible," attorney Lawrence Shire said. uh yeah good luck with that. how is this any different from revenge porn, except that one guy at the top who committed unlawful access to a computer.
