I haven't followed hockey since The Whalers were ripped away, so I have no idea what to take from this.

It's not Trump, and it's not Toronto (who had a better chance than ever after canning Bon Jovi).

Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula is on verge of buying the Buffalo Bills, per league sources, and the process is said to be "moving quick."

Very happy but I've been making GBS threads up these threads for months saying it was an inevitability :smuggo:

Now I'm sad again.

But yeah, as a hockey fan, has Pegula done ok? I really have no idea what he's about besides the fact that he wants to keep them in Buffalo hopefully.

He was criticized for what people might say was giving too much rope to an unsuccessful front office, gave a nebulous job to Pat LaFontaine because he was a fan favorite, and then inspired a power struggle by hiring a salty but promising GM, leading to PLF's ugly exit. Also hired a retread fan fave coach to manage the tank/rebuild.

He had pretty major missteps but seems to have learned his lesson re:staying out of hockey ops. I have no doubt if he buys the team it's here until the NFL dies. As far as success, I'd be optimistic.

Gutted the Sabers from the ground up looked at everything from nutrition to workouts and equipment, restocked the Sabres with a lot of young talent. Fleeced a bunch of draft picks from a lot of teams and hired some compitent people to run the team and is building a huge multi use hockey/entertainment complex in downtown Buffalo. So I think he's doing ok.

Yeah, this is the positive to the negative I posted. Wasn't intentionally that sour on him as it reads.

Here's the real question: Will he hire Dick Jauron and let him run the team for four years?

I'm feeling good now. Hopefully he got his mistakes out of the way with the Sabres. The people of Buffalo seems to be really happy about this, so that's a really good sign.

It wasn't even that great of a game till the fourth really. That first half must have been miserable for everyone there. On the upside you missed the berman/dilfer cast. It was horrible
