My uncle took my aunt to the doctor in Canada for a year, begging them to find out what was wrong with her. They'd give her some pills and send her home. Finally, he took her to a doctor in the USA. Pancreatic cancer, too late to treat. She died and left 3 babies behind. Socialism is poo poo. You get what you pay for. Does it cost a lot? Could there be ways to decrease costs. Absolutely. But single-payer is not the answer.

Tips for Canadians:

Go to your doctor, cases like Slipknot Hoagie's idiot aunt (Real Talk: I'm very sorry about your aunt) not getting the care she needed because she was to loving stupid (Real Talk: I'm very sorry about your aunt) to insist from her doctor that something was wrong are far and few between. Just because some dumb bitch bacon-eater (Real Talk: I'm very sorry about your aunt) went and stupid-died and made the world a better place (Real Talk: I'm very sorry about your aunt) doesn't condemn a great system.

That's my guess, but would that clear everything off my credit record? I also noticed sometime after the fact they had my birthdate wrong in all of the paperwork (no idea if they ever realized this). It was a minor error and obviously just a typo, but I'm guessing that's the type of poo poo that can make going to court even more annoying.

Request that they validate the debt (in writing, certified letter). If they don't confirm it within 30 days or something like that it comes off your record. You can do this via the big 3 credit agencies too, just click and wait

This works really well with small annoying poo poo on your credit too. time cost for the collection agency to check their numbers + validate is going to be > the 17.2% average recovery rate or whatever they would be expecting if they chased you for it so they just punt

Explain yourselves immediately, americans

The american medical system has gotten built upon the insurance industry which never allowed americans any options as they were typically given one choice of insurers through their employer, and now it is being propped up by the government via obamacare, and now it is considered racist to suggest this system is poo poo. There really is no hope for the foreseeable future.

My personal preference is to go without insurance and work deals with the local hospital, who so far are willing to work with me. I pay $50 cash for office visits, and the one surgery my wife needed was $300. The surgeon was willing to take $50 for his hour of time but the anesthesiologist was being kind of a jerk. Our kid in 2005 cost us about $1500 which we paid off in monthly installments for a year, because there were complications and my wife had to stay for 2 nights. Sharing this information a couple years ago is what got me my custom title.

Ten minutes outside of Toledo. Had a similar system at the hospital in Jacksonville, NC. I've never talked to a person in the billing department not willing to take money.

There's a pub right beside my local medicente, so I go check in, check the wait time then go have a beer then go back. It's a great system.

Also I live in Canada so the beer costs more than the doctor.

yeah idk this country is really against communists or something

when I was in Germany I paid 70 euro a month for health coverage and it covered completely everything with no copays or whatever. the only thing I had to pay extra for was if I went to the Dentist there was an additional 10 euro fee per quarter. so like the first time you go that quarter you gotta pay 10 euro but then after that it's free every time until the next quarter.

in the USA I pay almost twice that and get decent healthcare coverage but I still have to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket if anything happens. and it doesn't cover vision or dental because lol why would it those are 'luxuries.'

I'd gladly sign something that says I don't have to pay health insurance premiums, and then when I turn 70 you can kill me.

Saves the insurance companies hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep my old crippled rear end alive, saves me money when I can actually use it.

My last hospital stay I was in for 2 nights, and they asked if I was on any daily medications. I was on a generic thyroid medication that I had a full bottle of at home, and it cost me $10 for a 90-day supply.

The cost of 2 of the same pills during my hospital stay? $50/each.

So have someone go get your meds from home if you're ever in the same situation.

I don't know about everyone else here, but since Obamacare my health insurance has gone above 30% of my gross salary, my coverage has gotten worse, and my copays went from $0/$10 dental to hundreds of dollars. Group Death is the only thing I can afford now.

That all said, pre-obama care, a Canadian friend of mine got tricked by a nurse into having a wristband put on him (she snuck up behind him and attached it to him in the waiting room, in front of me and his family) and that cost him almost $3,000 so I don't think that system was very good either.

Basically our healthcare was awful and it got worse, not much more to the story.

If you're talking about your premiums through a work plan going up, that would qualify you for an Obamacare plan on the exchange. Employer plans can't exceed more than 9% of your salary.
