Look man. I know Scrooge McDuck or whatever other propaganda cartoon made communism look really scary, but you should actually take the time to read up about it and approach it with a non-biased attitude. It offers a lot of useful personal insights as well as ideological. It's a good thing.

I even had one of those chinese hats and an authentic Little Red Book from China. Then I actually looked at how the "ideals" of communism have only ever been used by extremely evil men to scam millions of people. Saying "Communism is a good idea in theory" is very much akin to how "homeopathic medicine is a good idea in theory." Magic water that makes you healthy and surgery performed quickly and painlessly by crystals? Sounds awesome. Great idea. Admirable dream. In reality though anyone trying to sell you crytsal surgery is either a chump themselves or deliberately malicious. You will end up with no money and be lucky to survive whatever disease you left untreated.

Yes but not as much as they were. You can find a Soviet one for about $130-170 but a Finn is going to cost anywhere between 200-400, its worth it though because the Finns turned that piece of poo poo into some real quality merchandise.

If anything, police corruption/brutality is verifiably MORE frequent in communist countries.

Considering human greed is an impulse that can never be eliminated, it seems more realistic to go with the system that is actually intended to channel the human greed impulse to productive ends (capitalism) rather than the one that pretends it doesn't exist and also breaks irreparably the first time anyone is even slightly greedy (communism).

On the other hand market forces also provide the impetus for innovation that give us interesting new technologies. Commodity fetishism is generally a bad thing, but innovation for its own sake is still good. it takes a better planner than me to untangle all the issues here.

If you read anything about communism when you were posing as a communist, you would understand that communism does not ignore human greed, and in fact pays an acute amount of attention to it.

Capitalism doesn't "channel greed to productive ends", it declares that all human behaviors are the result of greed, exalts greed as the only thing that works for doing anything, makes greed the underpinning of society and then everyone thinks that the 2008 financial meltdown was an aberration, people trample other people to death on Black Friday, and real wages stagnate for 40 years.

Omi-Polari posted:like big avatars on internet forums. people pay for those. You have an understanding of history and economics that's about high-school level, since you're pretending that buying and selling are what make up capitalism, rather than being an activity that exists across a broad range of economic systems. Even, like, high-school-level econ teaches the basic story of the rise of industrial capitalism, and while that's inaccurate, it's still better than insisting that Rome was a capitalist economy.
