Mercutio meanwhile was pretty cool and was nice to Romeo but was dumb as a pile of bricks and thus ends up ruining Romeo's life anyway. I like how The Merchant of Venice is basically "look at how evil and greedy jews are" but we still make kids read it in school. So that rear end in a top hat who thought that because his ships sunk, even though he knew that was a risk, he should get a free pass. It's true that The Producers '05 also had bad music, lovely pacing and flat humor, but I cite Broderick as the sole ruining influence of that film because even if all those other aspects were completely on point, Broderick's performance was bad enough that it wouldn't have mattered.
