The sound was the best part of this movie, the dude complaining about it must have been in a lovely theater or is a 75 year old conservative because drat the sounds of the ship and everything owned and owned hard, and the music rule too. I'm not a righteous turbos-cinema sperg though so I'm probably wrong

I saw it in a regular theater and yeah there were a couple of places where the music drowned out what the characters were saying. Nolan brags this is his avant garde directorial technique and not just the music being mixed too loud.

"I am map man I'll map everything with these here laser balls WHOOPS I AM LOST", add in the obviously-not-a-real old guy and zombie monkey man and a bunch of other 'what the gently caress is this' garbage it undoes all the things it does right. Interstellar is dumb for it's own reasons but I was never taken out of it until AFTER I had watched the movie and thought about it, Prometheus I went 'what the gently caress is this' as it was actually happening, and I went into it thinking it was going to be rad.

Gone Girl is either lovely boring airplane fiction Fincher, an MRA disgusting gently caress you pig for liking it garbage, or a subversive feminist revenge black comedy depending on what Internet opinion you decide to align yourself with 2 hours after watching it and then have to pretend to have come up with on your own Btw if you went into Prometheus expecting some late 70s relatively small scale middlebrow Ridley Scott you are clinically dumb and probably think Michael Bay is the worst thing to ever befall cinema despite not watching anything of his since bad boys

What I don't get is that McConughy spends the first half of the film with his daughter, he's tanned as gently caress and she's a pasty white ginger. Then he spends 100 years with Anne Hathaway who is also pasty as gently caress but he stays tanned as gently caress. Does he just walk around infront of women blocking the sun keeping all the women in his life in the shadow or something. It doesn't make good scientific sense. Also why would you send "quantum data" in morse code (instead of binary or something). Morse code is only really for sending letters of the alphabet so unless the message is "the secret ingredient is love" or something stupid instead of an equation or a number and then that lets you build space stations I don't get it.

Or to put it another way, it is a useful benefit to be stupid and unable to think critically when watching many films. Smoke a lot of pot and/or shoot up heroin if necessary.RobattoJesus posted:Also why would you send "quantum data" in morse code (instead of binary or something).
