The tag match was pretty fun too, Sandow is now tag team champs. Its pretty hilarious how over Sandow's gotten in comparison to the guy he's imitating.

At least Miz gets legit heel heat instead of silence. I hope they don't break them up because the adventures of Johnny Cage and his stunt double have a lot more mileage, it's better they break up over a single's title anyway.

I hope that Miz insists on carrying both belts around and Sandow has a pair of hilariously tiny novelty belts (just like during those 20 minutes when the Miz was IC champion).

So there really was no post show? My wife and I just got finished watching and she was screaming at the TV for the Stinger :3:

Exciting stuff. It certainly dragged in places but the Miz/Mizdow dynamic is interesting, Adam Rose is going interesting places, Ambrose is already booked for TLC and Cena did gently caress all while Ziggler looked like a hero.

I'm glad because the Divas division getting to the point where only like 3 women were allowed to hold the belt would've been kind of silly.

I wonder if he really is. His character might be going the Leo Kruger direction to hopefully give the midcard another viable heel, but it could also just be the Brodus Clay "main event player" booking where he turns heel, loses his face supporters, and gets relegated to Superstars/Main Event evaporating his remaining heat before getting released.

Fandango is now Flamenco, his escort is Rosa Mendez (who is awful at everything; a complete 180 from Summer Rae), and yeah, now he wears dress pants and a buttondown shirt that's way too tight.

Watching the end of the PPV again, Stephanie's reaction and subsequent tantrum after realizing what happened was just perfect. The gesticulations, the crazy eyes, the screeching, shaking the ropes like Warrior and flopping on the ground was absolutely fantastic. She truly is her father's daughter. Minus the ketchup steak wraps, though.

Skimming over it again this morning, I'm feeling much better about that PPV overall than I did at the time. The opening is out of place for a PPV, but then the tag match is fun, the Divas SS match is not objectively bad though the 4-0 murdering serves nobody, Ambrose and Bray do good even though I'd rather have had a more explosive end than a drawn-out DQ and the Rose-Bunny-Slater-Gator and AJ/Bellas things are harmless non-matches that it's easy enough to just fast forward 2 minutes and be done. Main event is superb from start to finish and I'm still nuts for Sting. I don't care how old he is. As long as he can put on the face paint and wear a trench coat, I'm down. Steph is absolute gold.

edit: Fandango's moved from generic 10 Dance to Paso Doble and/or Argentine Tango. It just means more scowling.

RBX posted:

Just heard on the observer podcast Aj and Nikki were going over their match then got told they had 20 seconds RIGHT before they went out.
If that's true it really lends weight to the rumour of AJ leaving. You don't surprise people with a squash the moment before they go through the curtain on a PPV unless you're purposefully dicking them over or something really hosed up. If it was just a case of them running out of time you'd think—as little as they may have cared about Nikki-AJ—that they would decide to cut a video package or ditch the Bunny-Rose thing, instead of cutting a match down out of the blue.

... Or, y'know, Observer could be totally wrong and we'll never hear this mentioned again.

Still didn't really care that much for the Wyatt/Ambrose match. It just felt stakeless, especially coming out of Dean's previous feud. Bray said "hey Dean your dad's in jail". The match itself was okay, but without a good story to invest me in it it just fell flat. Post-match beatdown seemed unnecessary, though I didn't have a problem with the ending.

Maybe it would've been better to switch HiaC and SS. Ambrose joins Team Cena because they keep interfering in his attempts to kill Seth, The Authority is defeated, and now he's free to have his revenge without interruptions. Bray could be on Team Authority, and you could plant the seeds of him seeing Dean as a kindred spirit/fellow crazy person, so he shows up after Rollins is beaten to start that feud.

Or, even easier, Seth is defeated, Bray shows up after to start this feud. If they were worried about it hurting Seth, just have him out for the leadup to SS, Triple H saying he's their ringer and he'll lead the team to victory. Then in the match he shows his worth by putting out Cena and Ryback, two of the biggest babyfaces in the match, with his finisher.

In summary, I do not care for this Dean Ambrose/Bray Wyatt feud. And I don't care about Sting, either.

k this is gonna sound kinda bizarre, but no kidding my current personal trainer worked with Sting for around 3 months or so earlier this year. the dude isn't in bad shape, at all, and is still obvi really frickin strong, he's just rather heavily limited with how he can train. the knee issues are well documented, but he apparently has other minor nagging issues also and therefore has to make physical compensations with various exercises. so if any of you were disappointed that he's some old fatso now, he ain't exactly that, so turn that frown upside down :unsmith:

I say this as someone who is relatively new to wrestling and doesn't have any nostalgic connection to Sting whatsoever

EDIT: Also, I love the fact that Triple H's elbow drop onto the 2nd ref nullifies the fact that the refs hand still hit the mat a 3rd time.

Sting debut and all; that match ending was mostly hot garbage.

There's so much stuff that was just over the top mind boggling stupid. I guess its wrestling and all, but in the so called "reality" era dumb things happened such as:

a.) Rollins should have been dq'd at about 3 different occasions, most obviously the ref assassinations
b.) Just because Sting's music plays, the last ref can't put his hand down one more time and ring the bell for a Rollins win? Does Sting's entrance music (incredibly lovely btw) create that much shock and awe that you forget to do finish job for 1/2 second then stand around looking like a big dumb idito?

Sting looked old as gently caress shuffling around the ring. I would have been happier with a Randy Orton run-in/RKO out of nowhere. It would have at least made sense. Sting should have pulled the trigger a couple years ago when he was "99%" close to signing with the WWE to face Undertaker.

That said, Stephanie saved everything with her incredible acting at the end.

I was preoccupied during the show and wish I could have caught it live, going through it having been spoiled robbed it of some drama. Ziggler looked like a fighter out there but I couldn't help but think of the old Mankind title win - a big moment in the sun handed to them (if not on a silver platter, exactly) by a more important worker. Obviously still good and cool, but Sting did kind of steal some thunder there.

It's Sting showing up at a WWE PPV. Yes, that much shock and awe.

If you can get past Irish whips, 450 splashes and Figure Fours, you should be able to get on board with the idea of someone's mere presence making that much of an impact on proceedings.

This is one of the things that made me kind of chuckle, too. When they were circling each other, Triple H kind of just walked around like normal, eyeballing Sting. Sting just shuffled side to side instead of actually walking, and in that huge trench coat it just looked so silly. Like an old man shuffling around in his bath robe or something.

I think so too. Part of it is that I'm inherently skeptical of them pushing Ziggler for anything and another part is that there's so many returns coming in the next couple of months that he's going to be bumped right back down to where he was or worse.

I honestly don't get what the story is with Cena as well. The Big Show turn on him seemed pretty justified since he didn't help Ziggler at all when Trips was beating him down.

I liked Survivor Series.

Tag Match was great as was Miz, Sandow and as usual Cody Rhodes working in the crowd. Like, they recognize them as a participant, in this case teasing having Sandow tag in, versus a lot of wrestlers sort of going about their business or storyline or cheap popping.

Divas SS was pretty decent I thought. Summer Rae was entertaining and the Divas had character and personality. Little nods like Layla poking at Alicia with hand gestures.

Bray vs Dean was pretty solid. I wish Bray still had that aura of mystique around him that was killed due to feeding to Cena and that the storyline would have had more of a psychological thing to it. But the finish was acceptable with Dean following through on what Cena didn't.

It'd suck if Nikki and AJ weren't given time but that was match of the night. Good way to do it. I'll probably see it again on the network and take notes.

Survivor Series main was good I'd say though didn't need Sting. I wonder if Dolph got Bryans spot at ending the Authority. I loved Hunter just taking out Refs left and right and them going overboard. It wasn't necessary but good on them doing the Henry moment just to surprise. Also it was a good move to have Show knock Cena out and send everything into question and give Dolph a huge moment. I thought the Russev thing fell flat but it would have been better if he'd have eliminated more people by himself first.

I am sad for Cesaro. But Yay for Barrett!
