i had to do a drupal thing once and drupal uses 2 spaces https://www.drupal.org/coding-standards ergo spaces are bad, tabs that render as 4 spaces supremacy

u ever c sum1 who format a email to look on their monitor w/ spaces, so when u get it, and its all hosed u, u can resize ur browser all around till it looks like the author intended? not programming related... just on the 'spaces' theme...

jony ive aces posted:p. sure eclipse and visual studio both have built in things like this too problem with this is that the definition of java / c# is so loose compared to go that there are too many ways to write the same thing. You need to be really super anal with your formatter and even then it might not be able to take 2 files that are functionally identical and make them look the same

Everyone using different standards and pressing Ctrl+Shift+F to autoformat before each commit so every line has changes and you can't tell where code actually changed.

There's a wave of modern programmers that find 2-spaces to be divine. Unfortunately, the oldies (but goodies) are stuck in their wasteful ways of 4-spaces and tabs. We will just have to wait for them all to die out.

you can make a tab whatever size you want, just change some settings don't use literal individual spaces like a moron
