Outrunners is probably pushing the limits of what they're able to do without the source code, I think. It runs on the most powerful version of their final sprite-scaling board (System 32) which is another step above the Y Board used for Galaxy Force and Power Drift.

Same. Or if Capcom did it theirselves, maybe they might put up Breath of Fire III and Dragon Quarters on the PSN sometime as well. Always weird how only Breath of Fire II (on VC) and IV (PSN) were only available digitally.

No, it means that Square is happy to license their stuff to publishers that care if it means they don't have to do anything, like they did with Lufia GBC.

Square ain't gotta do poo poo for VC, just sign a contract so Nintendo can playtest the ROM and throw it up. Not much difference really.

Probably explains why Mario & Luigi was able to get put up even through it has a Square copyright for Geno's camo. Bet it wouldn't take much to get Square to let them put up Mario RPG through.

That's not how it works, though. They're never gonna show up if Square doesn't even care enough to submit them for international release, and at this point it seems pretty clear that they won't. They are actively neglecting the international VC for reasons unknown.

Keep bustin'
Woohoo, the last round of post-play surveys from my old unregistered games have pushed me over platinum. Now to decide if I want a shirt or a handful of games. Shirt's tempting me because it's a slick, clean design, without some obnoxious "Kick it old school!" text splashed over it (which I'd expect to find on the nearest Hot Topic equivalent).

EDIT: I'm looking up coin values here, but it looks like only the registration surveys are being accounted for. Is there anywhere that lists the value for post-play surveys, or is that a fairly standardized thing (like X amount for any retail games, Y coins for VC games, etc)?

Wii U - Lucadian Chronicles, Zen Pinball

Some of these only give coins on post play surveys, I believe, and it's possible that some might. Not give anything at all. I know I got surveys for most of them, at least.

A bunch of games have skipped the Australian store due to the cost of classification. They can be purchased by switching your system's region to United Kingdom, but there's a couple of things to note: one, each regions store will have seperate funds (although unlike on the original Wii, your funds for each store will be saved when you switch and won't be deleted), and two, if you have a Nintendo Network ID you are permanently bound to the country you associated with it.

I messed around with Ironfall today on 3DS..
Very impressive engine, nicely detailed environments with a lot of effects and a rock solid framerate, it's especially impressive considering it was made by 3 people. Unfortunately there's not much to love beyond the tech, the cutscenes and voice acting are pretty rough, I don't even know if there was music but if there is it's super forgettable.
None of that really bothers me, but it did disable my c-stick system wide until I rebooted my 3DS.. I'll probably purchase when this is patched because hopefully the developers can add some dedicated artists and designers to the team after this game, and make something as creative as it is technically impressive

With the introduction of the NNID it's not possible to switch countries anymore on the eShop. It hasn't been possible to buy anything from the eShop without a NNID since that time either, so basically they removed the possibility to switch countries entirely for the 3DS.

For the Wii U, it's possible to add a secondary account with a different country associated.

Games not being released in AU/NZ isn't new but Sega is generally pretty good about keeping us in the loop, and they've already rated a bunch of games that are scheduled to come later on, so I dunno what the deal is with Fantasy Zone.

If you're really desperate, you can format your system, set your region to a EU country, buy a game, set your country back to AU and re-link your NNID and it'll merge it back into your account, but that'll delete your friend code and all your save data and force you to redownload all your poo poo, so... yeah, don't do that.
