Nagi was incredibly arrogant. Negi was absurdly modest. Touta has a more reasonable and moderate sense of pride.

Nagi also made a harem of all men. Negi made a harem of all women! Touta has men and women.

Touta truly is the bridge between Nagi and Negi

Especially since one of Touta's harem members is still deciding which one they want to be.

Up to chapter whatever when everyone gets scattered in the jungle. I don't know why I'm bothering, but maybe that Rakan stuff will be worth it :shobon:

You aren't, probably. I mean poo poo, here's a spoiler: the Ako subplot isn't even close to being over. More Ako, because presumably someone who can manage to give a poo poo about about her and her issues will appear. It hasn't happened yet, but I guess it is theoretically possible?

"Conspicuously coiffured"

I'm glad that he seems to be keeping the relationship between Touta and Eva as still pretty firmly parent and child. That kind of relationship is rare in any form in a manga and it adds to both characters.

I also like that his sword is now his sidestick, though the restriction that the sword can't talk when others are around is kind of dumb. Can't for the life of me think of who the conspicuously coiffured man is supposed to be reminding me of, though.

It's explained that it was a configuration instead of a restriction. So if Touta somehow figures out how to change that option to talk whenever anyone's around, we could have more open sidestick shenanigans.

The only person I can think of who talked that way might have been Kaede, but her somehow being the sword wouldn't make much sense given that she became a hyperspace ninja. Would be cool if it was her, though. Kaede was great.

That's only if you believe that this manga takes place in the Asuna-travels-back-in-time timeline, not the original, asuna-is-sleeping-and-negi-dies-early timeline.

Wasn't sure if they were meant to be the same characters from Negima or just a callback to some character designs from Mundus Magicus (or Inverse Mars if you prefer). The skull head dude kinda looks like one of the bounty hunters that went after Nodoka and her treasure hunting crew to lure in Setsuna and Kaede and who was wrecked by Negi using Magia Erebea.

And then there's the burly looking black dude from Nigeria, which I thought was kinda random.

Sword looks like it'll drop some background info next chapter, so there's that to look forward to.

The skull dude has been in the background before actually. He ws in one of the scenes of previous tournaments i believe...

So anyone else thinking that the hooded kid that attacked Touta might be the blond kid from the cast picture?

Akamatsu seems to like drawing those swords since they were all over the place in Negima, so I think it's unlikely that it's Asuna's or somehow related to it.

I'll hold off from the "I CALLED IT and you all said I was dumb and wrong" until we get confirmation on that, but yeah. I mean, come on, obviously he's not going to be Negi's real grandchild because that would imply Negi picked a girl, which Ken isn't going to let happen because he's a horrible bastard who hates closure.

The ultimate troll would be if Negi married someone who wasn't present in Negima.
