projecthalaxy posted:D:D2 is a really good game, my favorite of the 5 core games. Having the Cheat Shop, non-reset promotions, and so on is nice, and I like the story. Plus the stat absorption in LoC and Rasetsu make the endgame both bigger and easier, as well as not having that stupid nested-random-drop Assemble the Flonzor garbage from D4. I know I have really enjoyed the 3ish hours I have played of it so far. My favorite thing is how all of the available items show up the in shop all the time, so no more exiting out of the menu 300 times for a certain item. Edit: Flonne just saved my rear end at the end of Episode 2. Her and a Red Skull were the last ones standing against the boss, the Skull doing low double digit damage and Flonne healing him up every turn. I was slowly whittling the boss down when it got a lucky hit on me and took out the mage. I figured what the hell and attacked with Flonne's Love Knuckle! attack, mostly to see what it looked like. She loving one shotted the boss! It wasn't until after the battle I actually looked up her evility and saw that the healing she did during the battle beefed her up to probably double her normal stats. I have a feeling I will be using her a lot more now. edgeman83 fucked around with this message at 02:45 on May 3, 2015 |

Yeah if you pupil some elemental spells over to Flonne and keep her at a little range, she is an amazing striker. Keep some meat shields in front of her, keep them healed up, she'll kill anything within 7 squares. In my current mid-endgame (currently bouncing off Pringer Z-LoC), she and her Galaxy Skull pupil are my only humanoids that can still do things. Then abuse Cave of Ordeals and monster riding, and you have Priere, Raspberyl, and any other monster you like to 9999 in 10 minutes. They really made Monster classes very useful.

gently caress, I just remembered D2 was a PS3 game, not a PS4 game. Blalaualaugh. I don't want to hook up my PS3 again.

Oh yeah I forgot it's backwards now. Make some element mages and make her their pupil through the Character menu.

As someone who is currently playing Disgaea 4 Vita, and played D2 a while ago, is Disgaea 3 Vita worth it or not?

I dont think D2 was ever planned to be a vita title. Then again they never really announce the vita ports until they are already underway.

OK I guess I just need to get further. Also, how does Star Magic work in this game? In past Disgaeas it was learned by the Star Mage tier. But in this game there Mage/Skull classes are like the other classes and simply seem to have normal tiers with you simply picking the element. Is there a way to "pick" Star Magic? Because I've always made 2 Mages and Two Skulls, each one having all the magic of one element.

Dr Pepper posted:OK I guess I just need to get further. Get an elemental Skull (or mage, I assume) to tier 3, by getting a fresh Skull to level 20, promoting him, getting the resulting tier 2 skull to 40, and promoting again. That will allow you to learn Star and Mega Star, with each tier up unlocking the next spell.

I'm dumb and may not have fully retained whatever the Pupil system in Disgaea 4 is. Would someone please explain?

Lizard Wizard posted:I'm dumb and may not have fully retained whatever the Pupil system in Disgaea 4 is. Would someone please explain? Disgaea 4 doesn't have the pupil system, but it does have a similar thing with Evil Areas. The leader of an evil area will receive extra gain stats from their submembers, and you can stack multiple evil areas. Meanwhile skill/evility transfers are done through the Character World, where a character can learn from anyone else in the same evil area as them, no need to be the leader.

How do I unlock the Nekomata monsters in the Vita version of Disgaea 3? I defeated one in the item world but that didn't unlocked it (I assume because it was a specialist and not a normal enemy).

nekoxid posted:How do I unlock the Nekomata monsters in the Vita version of Disgaea 3? I'm pretty sure that should have unlocked it. I've unlocked monster classes in D2 by beating an Innocent of that class. I think that there's also a Nekomata in one of the Rutile and Stella story stages.

Once you beat the main story, an NPC appears at the base called the Parallel Worlder, talk to him and you can do the new stories.

This may be a silly question, but are Tower skills good? Is there any particular reason to use them?

Lizard Wizard posted:This may be a silly question, but are Tower skills good? Is there any particular reason to use them? It lets your Melee characters use their considerable might at range (I think it's every two people in the tower adds a square range. In addition, you can toss a low-level character in the middle and they will be both protected and leeching full XP from tower kills. Just put your strongest dude on the base and voila.

Lizard Wizard posted:Is there a reason a lower-level character would be less protected or gain less XP from being NOT in the middle? If they're at the base it'd be really easy for them to be attacked. And I think the available attack skills are determined by the guys at top and bottom.

Lizard Wizard posted:Is there a reason a lower-level character would be less protected or gain less XP from being NOT in the middle? In a tower, the only unit who can be targetted is the one currently on the bottom. However, the skill Tower Move will cause the whole stack to reverse in order as a side effect of moving. Therefore if you're going to be using a tower a lot, it's best to put your strongest two on the bottom and top. EXP is shared equally among all members of the tower, but I'm not sure if it splits the enemy's EXP or gives it to everyone equally. Mokinokaro posted:And I think the available attack skills are determined by the guys at top and bottom. That would be whoever is currently at the bottom, but since it's reversible you want both of them to know them, else you'll get stuck in one spot.

E: Answered clearer above. But yeah, put your trainees in the middle for maximum safe leveling.

I think everyone gets full EXP/Mana in D2, though.

NIS' fiscal report came out. Someone translated it: quote:Nippon Ichi FY 2014/2015 results (April 1, 2014 - March 31, 2015) EDIT: That's an absolute pittance of a profit right? Also if you live in Europe there's a collection of the PS3 Disgaea games coming out. Probably without DLC. HGH fucked around with this message at 10:52 on May 15, 2015 |

There's been a series of these packs for games like the three Neptunia games, the Arland Atelier series and so on. Really great collections, but they're just the base games, sadly, otherwise they'd be amazing value. Still, well worth picking up if you don't own the separate games.

Wow, NIS is cutting it a little fine on the "making literally any money" issue. Still, those plans are pretty cool. I know their mobile games probably won't make it over here, but Steam support is pretty rad.

Not amazing but they probably just sunk a decent bit of capital in expanding to PS4 releases.
