That's not super uncommon for runningbacks, and he got hurt. He's also only had 3 years so for all we know he does come close to it again.

Those are the three at the top of the depth chart. Jones would be fourth and the Raiders wanted to cut him early so he can hook up with another team early. I don't think Jones would be happy as the fourth WR.

The Cowboys are going into the season slated to have Darren McFadden and noted underwear thief Joseph Randle as their starting runningbacks. Before the draft, I thought spending high round draft picks to trade for Adrian Peterson was a bad idea, especially since the draft seemed to have a decent amount of depth for the position as well. Now, I think I would be fine with them trading multiple draft picks for an aging back that will have not played more then a game in a year and a half to begin the season.

I was really hoping they'd be the ones to pick up Zac Stacy. Maybe they'll kick the tires on Doug Martin since the Bucs didn't pick up his 5th year option?

Doug Martin is still with the Bucs for the upcoming season. He just won't be there next year. I think the Cowboys' offensive line is so good that they are going to be able to get away with not having great RBs. The only problem is that DMC won't even be there for half the season so they better have some depth on the practice squad or something.

The offensive line is good, but the lose of Demarco is going to be felt alot more then people expect. Even with a fantastic line, you don't get the kind of production that Murray had last year with an average runningback. He will also be missed in the passing game, the step down in pass protection between Murray and Randle was clear as day last year.

Even if they had retained Murray, I would have expected a decline in production. But to let Murray walk (which remains to be seen on whether they should have paid him) and not pick up anything outside of a broken McFadden is really worrisome. I think Randle's inflated 6+ YPC last year as left them with a false sense of security.

The practice squad is pretty much just Ryan Williams, the former 2nd round pick that used to be with the Cardinals and has a history of injuries.

John Brown posted:

I don't know why you wouldn't throw a 7th round pick to the Rams for the chance to test out Stacy. Especially since you did nothing leading up to that point in the draft.

I would even be happy for them to throw a middle round pick towards the Bucs to test out Martin for a year. They just need SOMETHING else.

As poorly as DMC ran the coaches apparently stuck with him cause his pass protection, so theoretically I wouldn't be too concerned there.

As for running, ehh he showed some flashes last year I guess? I don't expect much but I'm still curious how he'll do with a better line and passing threat at this point.
