Bill and Dubya were probably the two most normal humans to be president in the last several decades imo Bush was kind of a whimsical doofus. iirc there was some memoir by wolfowitz in which the wolfster basically says how excited he and the rest of the cabinet was because they realized Bush was a "blank slate" when it came to foreign policy and they knew they could just convince him to do whatever and just went whole hog on the nation building empire deal

And let's not forget that Bush used to insist on getting to bed by 9 PM no matter what was happening, and used to effectively take Sunday off (he insisted on there being no daily briefings on Sunday, etc).
