Everyone has roughly equivalent exploration ships. (And you'll generally want to use an Astero as soon as you can, anyways.)

If you've played two years ago, here's roughly what you've missed:
* They completely redesigned exploration; there are now minigames that you play when doing data/relic sites to unlock the cans.
* They completely redesigned manufacturing and research; it still sucks, but it's better than it used to be
* You can now buy positive sec status with isk
* Clone grades are gone, you never lose SP upon being podded ever
* Your training queue can now hold up to 50 skills with a duration of up to 5 years
* All ice belts are gone, ice is now mined in anomalies that get consumed and have to be refound
* Sisters of Eve became a pirate faction, and got three ships designed around exploration and cloaky ganking
* Mordu's Legion became a pirate faction, and got three ships designed around being utterly OP and murdering every ship within their point range
* There are now Tech-3 destroyers, and they're awesome

Yeah its a pretty awesome flick. It gets bonus points since apparently it is also pissing off a bunch of MRAs saying that its feminist propaganda because Charlize Theron barks orders at Max, ignoring that it's happened in all of the previous Mad Max movies.

They showed up in my anom, killed my drones, and then hosed off out of the system. :suicide: Left me there wondering what the hell just happened. I guess my fit makes it not worth his time, it would have taken them a long rear end time if not impossible to destroy my ship.

If I was looking to get into this, are any of the Steam starter packs worth getting? Regardless of that, is the Steam version inferior to just grabbing the client direct from the Eve site? Two paragraphs of warning on the store page made me wonder if it was some kind of half-assed hackjob or something.

Short version is you can grab EVE from steam now because you can give a steam account a real eve name. Unless something's changed, none of the starter packs except those with a PLEX are really worth getting.

How many jumps is it from VFK/YA0 to hostile space that actually has enemy fleets in it?

Is the roaming fleets still Interceptor's only, which defensive fleets found impossible to catch? I haven't heard anything to say that's being changed by CCP.

TM.com seems empty of news. One battle a week, little to no actual drama and little reason to read it. The new interface still has gaping holes, and a page of headlines only (with no context) makes me unlikely to read them anyway. EVENEWS24 is a lot easier to read.

Looking at the map, it still looks like that the old CFC still controls 1/3 of the map - I thought it was going to get smaller? Goonswarm Federation has decreased in size, but the top left third of the entire map looks to be friendly still. The lurking danger of Fozziesov dosn't seem to have changed the Imperial of Goons (which is too clunky to write- what does everyone call it? Imps? The Empire of Goons? I get the point that the CFC needed a change of name and it's a good marketing tool to use) actual control of space much.

With the short range of caps now, did Battleship fleets make a resurgence? All the battle reports I've seen seem to be supercaps, dreads, carriers and a Harpy fleet. Nothing in between.

For wat it's worth

http://crossingzebras.com/small-gang-tier-list-part-2-cruisers/

quote:

Tech 1 Cruisers

These are probably the most popular ships in EVE at the moment. Cruisers are cheap and can dish out a decent amount of DPS while still being fast.

Vexor (Borderline): Super flexible, extreme DPS using drones. This ship is almost cancer tier. I have even seen some people running setups using Geckos for even higher DPS. It has the ability to fit a massive tank while still keeping much of its damage. Is also hard to tackle due to light drones and energy neutralizers.

Caracal (Tier 1): This one of the best T1 cruisers for kiting. Despite the weaknesses of rapid light missile launchers due to the reload time, they can still apply good damage providing efficient anti-tackle. Fit with HAMs, this ship can hit out to 30km with a decent amount of DPS due to its missile velocity bonus.

Thorax (Tier 1): Fast, tanky brawl ship or long range rail kiter. Both are really good and capable of dealing a lot of damage. Personally I prefer the rail fit due to the high speed and tracking bonus that the Thorax gets.

Moa (Tier 1): This is probably the best T1 brawler cruiser after the Vexor. Deals around 600 DPS while keeping all its tank. It gets even better with logistics in a small fleet.

Rupture (Tier 2): Despite being a medium autocannon platform, it still deals a decent amount of DPS and has an acceptable tank. I know artillery shield fits were popular a while back, but personally I think that projectiles are a weapon system you brawl with. Smaller things need to beware of dual web armor fits. The neut, dual webs and good tracking autocannons will make fast frigate kebab.

Maller (Tier 2) If you are looking at extreme tank this is the ship to look at. DPS and speed are rather horrible for most of the fits, the tank is the only thing keeping the Maller in this spot.

Omen (Tier 2): The Omen is a decent choice for kiters. It has some really big problems with capacitor and tank though. It gets an A+ for projection, but in general a Caracal or a Thorax are better. Still not to be underestimated however.

Arbitrator (Tier 2): This ship is very similar to the Vexor if you just look at the bonuses, but what makes the Vexor borderline and the Arbitrator Tier 2? For starters, it has much tighter fitting than the Vexor, being almost 300 PG behind on an all V character. I don’t really consider the TD bonus to be that great because of the low speed. It is still Tier 2 because drones are really good and high slot neuts are annoying. Looking weak and getting fights that way also carries some merit.

Bellicose (Tier 3): Technically this is a support cruiser but it has some DPS and speed. Most people fit these as big frigate traps, capable of killing frigs and nothing else. Unfortunately, the Vexor and Caracal can both do this while still being able to fight ships in their own class.

Stabber (Trash Tier): This ship is pretty much a big frigate, unable to fight anything else. It’s supposed to be some type of kiting ship but it doesn’t have the power grid to fit artillery or the range to kite with AC. Horrible DPS, horrible tank and pretty much outclassed by every single other cruiser. Sorry Chessur, it is not a good ship.

They weren't defectors, to defect you have to actually play eve and join a different side. Same with fuckgoons, it's difficult to goonfuck if you never open the client. A lot more "gently caress you dad" than fuckgoons.

Epsilon were the first squad to kinda decide as a group that eve sucked but they still wanted to hang out on GF forums & the TS lobby. Especially at they time when SA was going through the GBS moralist phase and GF.com was still oldschool SA culture. They were around for a couple years trolling goons and terrorizing pubbies, until Mittani banished the lobby crew in 2010.

So I've been reading up on changes...it looks like jump fatigue makes caps only useful over short distances now (e.g. defending local systems)? I had an alt in Capswarm flying a Nidhoggur...is it worth it to resub a cap pilot? Or over-rated these days due to jump fatigue?

We jump more using gates (caps\supers and titans are now able to do this) and manage fatigue to make it as low as possible. But now you can not travel all across galaxy if you have a cyno-alts, but in another hand you can not be dropped from another side of galaxy if you get tackled.

I'll be glad If you do this so I'll not be not the only nidhoggur in every fleet. :nid:
