SWMadness posted:Arbitrary code execution glitch runs are the BEST. My favorite example of this is a TASbot running Wario Land (I think?) that goes off script, randomly flails around on a stage, and this SOMEHOW skips it straight to the end scene. Nobody knew about that before the bot randomly discovered it.

Seriously if you've never played Earthbound go buy it on the VC or something. Its one of the most charming games ever made.

It's been a while since I've seen a stream, but through Onett they do some stuff which allows for guaranteed Smaaaash!s against Titanic Ant and the Captain Strong.

No, that was a TAS that was supposed to be an any% run and instead desynced on a different version of the emulator it was made on and warped to credits. Here's the thread for it: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16135 the OP has been edited to reflect the desync.

Kind of reminds me of Kris Straub's Broodhollow where the main character believes that his OCD compulsions actually do affect the universe the same way a speedrunner manipulates RNG (It's a really neat spooky little webcomic, everyone should be reading it)

Abu Dave posted:How does he trick the battle system into giving him Smash's and not getting hit He basically knows that because he moved this way and that way on his walk over to the fight, and then hit B 20 times at the start of the fight, that the enemy will roll a miss and he will roll a crit, then if he hits B 5 more times he'll get another crit, etc. Basically one they figured it out they probably used some kind of debugger to track the values, and then they just memorize what to do.
