Within a few hours I had most of it down, and was able to leave a stop smoothly within a couple of days, though I still stalled occasionally leaving a stop for a few weeks (I was pretty conservative with the throttle while launching, since I knew how expensive a new clutch was, and knew a reman starter was a lot cheaper).

I actually do have a fax machine that's about 20 years old, but it uses plain paper, and a funky transfer film. Can't find cartridges for it anymore, but we've managed to rewind the current cartridge multiple times. I haven't plugged it in in several years though; it's slightly more of a PITA to fax using a PC, but scanning to the PC then using a :10bux: fax/modem to handle it results in poo poo that's actually readable.

What's funny is I had to show several coworkers how to use a fax machine at one job I had. Nobody except for the GM had ever used a fax machine... or a landline. That really made me feel ancient. Another job I had (10 years ago!) had some forms that had to be filled out with a typewriter now and then, and the majority of people who worked there had no idea how to use one. :downsgun:

I ended up taking backroads to the place, you're right about the revs, though I don't know if it was a hard cutoff or just turbo boost loving with it (the stock fuel map is already wonky so I can imagine no-MAF mode not being particularly robust).

Had codes for the MAF and fuel pressure regulator after replacing a battery. I don't have time for further diag because of classwork, so to the shop it went. They'll get to it tomorrow.

As long as the company has at least 50 employees, and she's been with them at least a year in full time status.

IIRC FMLA doesn't apply to small (below 50 employees) employers. And depending how the place is set up (IIRC she's in property management at a townhouse community?), the company will be set up in such a way that each property is a separate LLC.

FMLA has saved my rear end more than once (especially when I went to rehab - GM of the store I worked in at the time demoted me and cut my pay over it, but a short letter to HR got that fixed .... and got me bitched out by the GM), but a lot of companies take full advantage of every loophole in it.

If it felt like a hard cut, it was a hard cut. Boost cut would result in it surging at some RPMs, then falling on its face at higher RPMs, but wouldn't feel like running into a rev limiter. It'd feel more like a fuel pump that was dying (so intermittent full power, then "where's the power?" then more power, etc).

I know my Altima went into limp with the MAF unplugged; the Saturn doesn't, but it's extremely slow to respond to throttle input with the MAF unplugged (with it plugged in, it's typical GM DBW + GM hilariously heavy flywheel lag, which is hilarious by itself).

Well at all times it was sluggish as hell, and actually died if I turned the A/C on at idle, so it's whatever.

I'm just pissed at how quickly this escalated. I've needed a jump once a few weeks ago, then 2 Monday night. Had to get a jump yesterday morning, car idled fine but now suddenly would die with any throttle at all. Then on the next crank attempt it not only wouldn't turn over, but sucked the voltage down low enough to reset my radio. Checked the resting voltage when I got home, 11.7 V. Replaced the battery and now it starts fine and the alternator voltage looks fine, but now this fuel/MAF/whatever root cause issue is persisting even with good power.

The majority of fax machines I see today are usually laser printers with a modem and LCD built in.

We still have a fax at work - it spends most of its time printing fax advertisements (seriously, who the gently caress still pays for those?!? I'd boycott the companies advertising via fax, simply for trying to cost my company money with their advertising, since toner and ink add up in a hurry), and once or twice a day it'll get an actual work-related fax. Oh, it also functions as the 8x11 printer for the store, but it jams on more than half the prints/faxes it tries to deal with. Every store in the franchise has the same model, and all of them are pieces of poo poo.

(also Brother models - combination scan/fax/print units - supposedly they're replacing them company-wide "soon")

One thing that really bugged me was at 0:28... stupid car comes up, blinker on, clearly attempting to move into his lane but he keeps going at whatever pace he's going until the car moves over, then he starts screaming. Dude was not stacking the deck in his favor...

I did rewatch the video several times again, and there were a couple in there that were obviously unavoidable... But, I still get annoyed by all the cyclists out here that ride like asshats with no regard for their own lives and for some reason that video really triggered it.

I specifically said it wasn't his *fault*, but that he didn't seem to be paying much attention, just hauling rear end... Which is utterly dumb when there are all those moron drivers on the road! Cyclists seem to have far too much faith that cagers aren't out to get them, and that bugs me as both a (lovely, slow) cyclist and a driver. I hope you understand what I'm saying here.

What the gently caress are you talking about? In every single case there except the last one, he and no one else prevented the accident the car tried to cause.
In the last one, he is moving below the speed of traffic in a clearly marked bike lane, and as you can see if you watch the video went full on brakes almost immediately. If that had been a motorcycle doing the speed limit there'd have been a dead body on the ground and a bigger dent in the car.

Please get off the road before you kill someone. Seriously, if you think the cyclist had anything to do with that accident other than being present where he was supposed to be, you are clearly not up on safe driving. Go ride a bike for a week and get back to us.

Sad thing is that if he had been in the lane instead of a bike lane, he might have been noticed more often and certainly merged into less often, but they'd you bitch about how cyclists are roadhogs who sould ride of the sidewalk or some other such nonsense.
