Clearly the solution here is to load up a cropduster with hydrochloric acid and just kind of mist that stuff over the neighboring lot.

So given the Canadian election results, I might have to change my plans. Anyone want to help me buy the lot next to me and start a cannabis farm once it's legal? :v:

I think you could do with a heated and lighted greenhouse. your biggest problem will be the gasoline bill for the generators and security fees to local mobsters.

gosh! i like both the islanders and the rangers!!! :^)

Sink the greenhouses half into the ground for added insulation. Maybe a wind turbine to get some power from chinook winds and ease the cost of gasoline that's gonna power your pot farm.

I'm not a botanist, but couldn't you just grow gasoline plants in half of the greenhouse to provide your own gasoline for the generators for the marijuana plants?

Grow grain, ferment it and distill it to make your own whisky. Discard the backset from that as it will be loaded up with organic acids and drop the pH quite a bit.

This is the best plan because on the way to growing your weed you get booze and that is just beautiful.

Not just for breakfast anymore
Your ground dirt is suboptimal if your soil pH is anything other than 6.2. Also if you've got hard water, you soften it, you are going to want to switch to a potassium-based salt rather than the sodium-based. Sodium kills plants, and you've enough salt in your dirt already.

Another alternative would be to lay out some eaves troughs on a slight slope and run some fertilizer water down it. Suspend plants over said eavestroughs and their roots will absorb nutrients from the solution. It's not easy to manage nitrogen levels with this technique but you'll be able to expand quickly and cover a lot of ground once harper's legislation is repealed.

There's a thread that might be of interest to you. As far as I know posting in it won't get you automatically arrested.

I've pretty well discovered that I am terrible at gardening and should not be allowed to care for plants.

The only plant I've managed to keep alive for any length of time is a seven or eight year old venus fly trap. That dudes only still around because I keep it in the kitchen window and can see how much water it has daily, since I keep it in a little glass teapot. Plus it gets nice clean distilled water with no salt, and I feed it all the flies I can catch alive. (Cathartic as hell, let me tell you.)

I need to concentrate on metal, cars, BBQ, and not completely falling out of society.

To that end, and related tangentially to nearly all of those, my project is moving at a snail's pace. I appear before the county council next week for an appeal to their draconian building bylaws, wish me luck :getin:

Town council doesn't have any real power, except for what I seize for myself. We collect no taxes and are only responsible for the administration of our community hall.

The county runs everything. We're just a little farming/bedroom community hamlet.

Man what the gently caress? Someone hydrovacced the gas and electric lines last week? What the gently caress for?

Oh.

(man I really need to sand and primer this wood and repaint it, gross)

Huh. Whatever this is it looks pretty big.

Kinda moist down there... Must be an underground stream, this is one of the dryest springs/winters I have ever experienced.

Oh I see now. It's a foundation for a fuckoff huge workshop. Rad.

So yeah, several attempts at gardening failed for lack of consistently commit-able time and a vague disinterest on my part means that I have this huge yard and a bunch of grass that I hate mowing. Also, a complete desire to continue my pursuit of ironwork, welding, and fixing cars, but a lack of space to do so (because my existing garage is packed to the gills and I have to spend an hour excavating before I can accomplish anything). Solution: a 40' long, 30' wide and 12' interior ceiling shop with room for two lifts and a buttload of tools (maybe even a lathe and mill) with enough electrical power cabling to run all of it without hanging extension cords everywhere.

Buckle up folks, we're back in hardware mode :getin:
