The Penguins system apparently actually calls for them to take tons and tons of shots from along the side boards down low where they have about 3 square inches of uncovered net to shoot at. At what point do we start to agree their comically bad shooting percentage isn't bad luck, it's a hopelessly dumbass system that revolves around very low percentage shots?

I remember last year Johnston saying something about not shooting from the points because you get too many big rebounds that turn into odd man rushes and I thought to myself "the penguins are not a team that needs to be told not to shoot."

I have no recollection but my assumption is that most of the Pens goals this season have been scored off the rush rather than from a cycle, because they have just zero gameplan in the offensive zone. They're getting pressure but it's just amounting to nothing.
