How did Dada 5000 pass a prefight medical? I always wonder how they find Doctors willing to sign off on fighters being totally fine after watching them take multiple shots to the head from cageside.... But in this case all I can imagine is the doctor looking at a sheet of alarming test results but assuming that a joke was being played on him coz it belonged to "Dada 5000" so he stamped it anyway.

It's up to the commission to tell them no and the Texas board is garbage. Before Pettis/RDA they were proudly advertising how Texas doesn't drug test

Fix your poo poo or we're no longer going to recognize your ____" or something. I can't fill in that blank, though.

Does Texas use instant replay? Is Gracie/Shamrock going to get turned into NC because he went down from a groin shot?

kimbo305 posted:I'm not sure which test would have revealed that his heart would be at the limit for this fight. A quick and lazy google found the WBFs prefight medical info: http://www.worldboxingfederation.net/articles/general-medical-guidelines.htm I imagine its more a medical testing for disease as opposed to workplace fitness etc. The info I have read so far is that Dada had massively high post fight potassium levels so I would assume he gave himself rhabdomyolysis from over exerting himself in the fight which put him into an arrhythmia. So yeah he probably could of benefited from the medical you have to do to work at a supermarket or whatever. Edit - from http://mmajunkie.com/2016/02/after-bellator-149-loss-dada-5000-hospitalized-due-to-renal-failure “The doctors have now informed us that Dada had accumulated extremely high levels of potassium in his blood which led to severe dehydration, fatigue and renal failure,” the statement reads. “The high potassium levels were likely caunsed by his 40(-pound) weight loss in preparation for the fight.” "Fighters are required to submit medical documentation that proves they are medically fit to compete; 5000 hadn’t fought professionally in five years when he stepped into the cage against Slice." So it's the honour system for the fighters to clear themselves to fight? And I would guess they had no prefight ECGs, or blood or urine tests coz they would of all potentially showed the excess potassium. turntabler fucked around with this message at 22:23 on Feb 21, 2016 |

The main event is Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock. I’ll be commentating some on that night. They are having me get my feet wet. Maybe later down the road, if I do decide to fight, the chances are one percent that I fight and 99 that I don’t. I don’t plan on fighting, but if I feel good, my body is going well I might consider it down the road. But right now I’ll say no. But I do enjoy being part of Bellator. They have their own theory with what they want to do. They take chances, and I love it. They are different.
