Yeah that is *really* easy to do. If anything is a cause for a captain to go insubordinate, telling them 'Drive through this cruiser' should be.

It's surprisingly easy to do if you're manually controlling all your ships but if you've got some just flying attack patterns around the enemy the AI does a good job of not ramming friendlies. That said, burning retros and coming to stop has saved me several embarrassing collisions when I was microing movement.

Yeah, Tyranid fleets are pretty beastly, but if you can manage to take out their central controlling Hive Ships they're suddenly very easy to outmaneuver.

They also have another fun gimmick: If Tyranids board one of your ships, your captain can decide to nope the gently caress out and try to overload the ship drives to self-destruct. Your ship will be utterly destroyed, but when you're being boarded by 'nids, chances are your entire crew is about to be horrifically massacred anyway. That way at least you'll still cause some significant damage to the 'nid ship boarding you.

I really hope they get added in later, eating battleships sounds fun.

I could see them doing necrons if they made their ships absurdly expensive like 250 points for their light cruiser, that way you'd have 2 light cruisers and an escort against a single necron light cruiser. I feel that eldar, SM, and orks are going to be the MLG choices. Eldar and space marines will be the micro master's since eldar are going to be absurdly fast and space marines are going to have fewer tougher ships. Orks are going to be powerful because if a good player uses them they are going to be insane with a ton of rams.

A good hint to remember is you don't get penalized for losing escorts so if one is near death without much weapons ram that fucker into something, better then letting it get slowly killed.

One thing I will give torpedoes is the most hilarious moment I've had in this game so far was ramming a chaos cruiser in the nose, leaving ahead full on, and spinning it so it ate an entire wave of friendly torpedoes aimed at one of my other ships. Completely unintentional, I'm not actually that good at this game.

Being able to run around with ships stuck to your windshield will never stop being funny and i pray that orks are even better at kidnapping ships with a ram and running off with them.

Apparently Orks literally have something called "Klaws" which are made to grab a rammed ship and drag it along. Not to be confused with those copyright infringing Tyranids and their "Claws". Which are clearly crude imitation of proper orky Klaws.

Yeah during assassination missions when your enemy huddles with asteroids to his back just ram his ship into the asteroids its goddamn hilarious. High energy turns are also amazing for broadsides since they have a cool down, shoot 1 side then 180 and hit him with your other side and just keep repeating.

Definitely going for 1 inquistion, 1 admech for my dauntless selection. Admech for your micro cruiser and inquisition for your automated cruiser--that free rank to navigator means you can always warp the inquisition ship out without worrying about it getting lost in the warp for a long duration. I figure your cruiser is always going to take a beating and be your primary micro ship so the extra skill and faster repairs seems a no brainer.

Won a 500 convoy defense tonight as chaos by using 1 light cruiser and the rest juiced-up escorts. The other side had brought a cruiser, a light cruiser, and an escort.

Escorts raped the cruiser and escort to death pretty quickly. The light cruiser was way on the other side of the map, trying to kill one transport and failing. So, all three got through.

Now I have a brand new Styx and I'm going to ride it as far as it will go until the assault boat nerf hits, then switch back to kite fleet.

Does anyone have a good chaos kite fleet build? I'm mostly stuck on favors (Tzeench all day?) and escort upgrades, now that I have two slots.

Chaos is so goddamn OP in chase missions when you don't have a nova cannon--caught the guy with his pants down and rammed his admiral and brought him to half health super fast but he just burned away and kept circling me until he jumped out. I don't get why taunt seems to be ignored is it a roll or something? I got it on my dictator and its a 50/50 chance that the guy will turn towards me or ignore me.

Best way to power up a new ship is to save enough renown to buy the ship+admech favor then begin leveling it up with its 50% discount.

It's quite fast paced when you level up your admiral and get access to a bigger fleet. A lot of things you can set to automatic which takes off a bunch of strain and is actually better at times as the AI seems to activate it instantly after a cooldown! There's also a slow motion button but you only have a certain amount of juice in it so you can't use it all the time but there's a good amount for most battles.

You can also just pick abilities and ships which are okay managing themselves like dumping torpedos for lasers. If your warhammer a fan it's worth trying.

You can slow down time for both you and your opponent during your games at will. You can also set ships up to auto attack shipsnbased on a variety of conditions, including attack style (prow on or broadside) engagement distance and even set abilities to auto fire.

For example you can set your sword class escort frigates to engage at 3k meters prow on and Fire their torpedoes whenever they can and basically forget about them.

The best (or most galling) part is that while the AI might not yet be able to really set priorities right, it can certainly handle timing properly- it certainly autocasts plasma bombs in better positions than I could manage, for example.

Wow they really need to loving add scaling, i did a data retrieval mission with 1 cruiser, 3 LC's and the rest escorts. What was i against? 2 despoilers and 2 cruisers. I at least got 1 despoiler near death due to some lucky torpedo shots. Ad mech is so necessary for your cruisers, i can repeatedly go through BS missions and come out with decent ships in working order.

Heres some tips to make your life easier:

- select all to quickly automate large groups of escorts
- click on enemy ships and select what sub system you would like to focus on
- automated ships will plow through mines and asteroid fields
- escorts cannot warp away and simply must die, when retreating find the weakest enemy line ship and ram them all into it for free renown
- good players will disable your sub systems very quickly but even the best cannot manually target 6 escorts
- invest in escort upgrades before you move past cruisers/400 points, these will make up the bulk of your fleet against your opponents who will likely all be in the BS/700 point range

At this point every game is me either vs multiple chaos capital ships that have twice my weapon range on all their weapons or against imperial players who drop 2-3 nova cannon shots at a time.

I am finding as well that people can't handle swarming. Big capital Chaos kites in particular fall apart when trying to snipe six escorts. What to do with orientation when you're getting charged by a swarm of light, fast ships isn't exactly clear.

Speaking of which, what SHOULD a chaos sniper kite do with orientation if it is being chased by a swarm of upgraded escorts?

Light cruisers are actually very good at murdering bigger ships and super useful in assasination and data retrieval. It's great fun when the enemy spend all their points on like 2 big ships and get utterly swamped. I think it's a bit of an oversight that they're just as good at boarding as much, much bigger cruisers.

Yeah I did really well at the light cruiser level but now I am just getting wiped off the map by Nova cannon barrages at the start of the game or just pecked to death at long range by big chaos fleets. I am now at the stage where I can't afford to repair anyof my ships, I haven't been able to buy upgrades for awhile and I keep getting matched up against cruisers and battle cruisers with all I can manage to field usually being 1-2 light cruisers and a load of escorts.

The big slow ships aren't as exciting as the smaller faster ones. Hurry up Orks IMO.
