We also just got 40 cats in from a hoarding situation, with almost all of them being black. So what I am saying is, I know where you can get a black cat army on a budget.

The two times I went to go pick out a cat, I've always gone with the intention of getting a black cat and I walk out with very loud mackerel tabbies instead. It's like a horrible curse where no matter what I do, I end up with the same loud-rear end brown cat, every drat time.

Oh, also, before I forget, I want to mention that one time I saw a duck sleeping on a damp piece of concrete, and this was the same day that another duck had to be "escorted off campus" for attacking a student at the bus stop. Ducks are good. It is OK to duck.

Besides which there's something like a million cats in shelters the USA in need of a home, many (most?) of which are full of personality, love and cuddles, even if they don't look like leopards. I adopted two adult cats - inseparable brothers and the cutest, sweetest cats I've ever known. They have just the sweetest personalities. I don't care what they look like, they're huge sweetie pies. You can do soo much good by adopting cats from a shelter instead of buying from a breeder or pet shop. SO much good. Ducks are good. It is OK to duck. Place I worked years ago had four little enclosed gardens in the main building (i.e. access only via the air or the building itself). Every year ducks would nest in them. Two of the gardens had ponds; security and other staff would put water into the other two gardens for the ducks. The other thing they did each year was once the ducklings were big enough, they'd put tarps down the corridors and herd the ducks from the gardens with no ponds to the ones with ponds.

One thousand times agreed. I adore my shelter baby, and he adores me in return! Jack and Kenpachi, on the other hand -- the two bengals pictures in my post -- are complete jerks. Sometimes sweet, often a lot of fun, but far, far from the loving darlings that Norris is and will always be. I will always get shelter cats. Can't speak for my friends who own the bengals, but I guess the fascination of their appearance and personality was too much to ignore. vv To each his own. If someone gets in their heads that they want a special breed of cat, it's hard to get them to change their minds! My roommate has at least also adopted a shelter cat to be BFFs with her bengal Jack, but Kenpachi is the only cat in his household.
