Callahan getting nothing was pretty much cinched when Letang returned to the game.

I dunno, he and Kunitz and Palat should all have been suspended and the fact the NHL doesn't give a poo poo about player safety really really makes me sad and kind of embarrassed to support the league.

e: also the Lightning claim Bishop is OK and just day to day and his screaming in agony and going off on a stretcher was no big deal. I'm sure the Penguins will totally fall for that and be shocked to see Vasikevsky start every remaining game. Coooooooooper :argh:

The only way I could see that pain and inability to skate with him being day to day is if he dislocated his knee. Incredible pain with no range of motion but relatively fast turn around as long as there was only ligament strain.

Even then, you can dislocate your knee and be able to gingerly walk a few days later, but that's a long long way from being able to play goaltender in the NHL. Pretty sure it would still be a 3-4 weeks type injury even with no severe ligament damage.

So basically the answer is that Cooper said Bishop was day to day because it's the NHL and they can just tell you whatever they feel like about injuries regardless of the truth of the matter.

That really sucks for Bishop though, seeing him go down like that was hard to watch :smith:

Actually it turns out that was for the previous round. I had just heard them mention it on NBC during the game 7 and thought it was about today, but it was a San Jose concert the 11th they were referring to.

And ShadowNinja64, hes pretty cool. For a Blues fan.

Blues will lose the series if they continue to take a million penalties. Their PK is terrible and SJ is just as good as Chicago on the PP. And unlike the teams they have faced so far, SJ has an actual defense, so they wont be putting up 4-6 goals a game anymore. Elliott is going to need to continue to play like goalie Jesus.

Its ok I'm nowhere near STL and truth be told I probably have a more intense and intimate dislike of that city than anyone else in America.

Also it is interesting how people are talking about Elliot...not that he hasn't been superb, but what he's done in the playoffs so far are basically in line with what he's done the last 5 years with the Blues. He's not playing out of his mind right now, he's a seriously good player.

He has been splitting starts his entire career (his 38 starts this year was his second highest) in St.Louis so yeah , its impressive to see him keep up that level of play into the playoffs.

e: His career playoff sv% is .895, just as a reference point.

Other two lines are the same. Also Maatta is likely to sit in game 2, and Schultz is probably in. I guess I'm okay with this since Crosby and Malkin aren't doing poo poo and I don't think the HBK line can carry them through yet another series.

for real though, I don't really have a big problem with the bolts and wonderllama is cool. Though I kinda had my opinion lessened after Callahan boarded the poo poo out of Letang and seemed unapologetic about it.

Still better than St. Louis, which tried to play the Canadian anthem to get Canadians to root for them, which reeks of desperation and is really sad. It's like a divorced dad adopting a puppy to win over his children
