the old simpsons is a crazy good show, but the first seasons suck or are really dated to their time, and the ullman sketches suck outright, so there's this limited timeframe where you can find timeless simpsons episodes that ends abruptly in like 1997 so you basically have most of a run of a show that's completely terrible recycling itself or trying to make The Lisa Simpson Show work for the 900th time.

I am not that kind of simpsons person, Imo i would start in season 2 or 3 and leave by 6 or 7. Homer's Enemy is basically thought of as one of the last good episodes, you might want to see it if you want peak simpsons but beyond that i can't give specific recommendations. I can talk your head off about futurama though, because there's less of it and it exists on netflix.

I watched S1 of Futurama and was totally floored by how good it was. Then I started watching S2 and it started feeling real run of the mill. Does it pick up again?
