That seems to be more of a Palin thing than a Duggar thing. Though if the Duggars got into weed and started citing their religion as overriding its illegality, hilarity would no doubt ensue.

Considering it came from the Gothard people and he's probably going to go to prison as a child molester… Not that inmates being beaten, raped, and killed in the US prison system is a good thing—it's a pretty horrifying failure at all levels—but it does have a nonzero likelihood.

By the time he's caught he will have a 'God's will' defense pretty well baked and sellable in whatever backwater court to which he gets the trial relocated. I can't wait until the pamphlets proclaiming that you must molest children hit the street. Molestation is just the next step from blanket training after all. gently caress those sick fucks.

They put the girl in a blanket and had several adults sit on her at once, berating her for not wanting to get out badly enough. They basically told her if she wanted to live, she would have to fight out. Apparently they taped it and the transcript just had this girl saying "I'm trying, I'm trying" until she just went silent. All the while, these people were demeaning her and saying it was her fault. She was smothered to death. Even reading the transcript was horrific. No, that's crazy-attachment-therapy rebirthing. Blanket training is using corporal punishment on your children, starting as babies. You put a baby old enough to crawl on a blanket, and tell it not to leave the area of said blanket. Smack the baby every time it crawls off the blanket, until it has learned perfect obedience to you and the Lord. Look up "To Train Up a Child," that's the guidebook.

There are accounts of blanket training in this thread. It's roughly: Take a baby who is learning to crawl and put them on a blanket. If they go to crawl off the blanket hit the, with a switch or ruler or something to get them to stay on the blanket. If they cry or whatever anywhere take them to the blanket. If they are bad, blanket. I can't even write more it sounds too horrifying and I have a one year old at home.

It is simply amazing that these are the people who think human beings aren't animals. From the mere sound of it, it's just the worst poo poo. If I ever hear some crazy boasting about "blanket training" their kid, I am calling child services like a quickdraw narc at high noon.

You forgot the part where you're supposed to seed the area with high interest items to entice the literal infant into defying your godlike authority. Then when they fall for it because they are literally infants, you beat them with switches or sticks or the highly recommended decent sized length of 1/4" plumbing tube.

That is part of the worst bit about blanket training for me. The child learns that wanting stuff is bad and they will be punishedfor it. The child learns that wanting to go outside, or anywhere that is not in the square of the blanket/home is bad and they will be punished for it. So they grow up into perfect cult members who fear and distrust anything that is outside/other/new.
